    Nice live action Roly! Yes some would consider it gate malfunction, but traffic could get really crazy if gates didn't open if train delayed in station. I assume there is a default built-in to cause this "malfunction". The wise historian/archeologist was there at right time, perhaps even planned for our benefit! Always enjoy your posts and usually learn something along the way. Thanks Roly!!

    Glad to see the Tri Rail trains, one of those lines you knew exists but hardly ever see. I think because of the panel on the grade crossing poles there isn't enough room to put the small sidewalk gate. The nerve of that person disrupting your photo shoot. A half cylinder bike puttering away. Probably in a hurry to get to the market for a voodoo chicken.

    Nice train meet of the Tri Rail trains. Too bad the trains were not closer to your location for a better view of the meet. That is an interesting railroad crossing with the quad-gates to prevent people from going around the gates at the crossing. I presume that the quad-gate set-up is necessary because the crossing is so close to the station. The gate runners must have had hot dates because they could not wait for the gates to come down and for the train to go pass.

    • @railrol82
      @railrol82  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      On this particular line, quad gates dominate the landscape. Apparently South FL Regional Transportation Authority, who owns and maintains the line is big on safety. Thanks as always for the views and comments, Thomas

    The sheer number of fatal crashes in FL with the Bright line shows exactly why we MUST have a separate high speed rail system with absolutely no grade crossings

    Very cool catch! You got a 2 for one special. 😀
    In my state (Southern California) our local commuter trains are called Metrolink. The passenger cars look just like tri-rails but with different decals. Search them up on TH-cam.

    I’ve seen crossings malfunction before like that, it went up but then it went down again when the train is still stopped. Plus, Ive seen a car who sped pass the crossing when the gate is literally down already, plus, the M bell in heller lumber for Union Pacific is replaced by an e bell…. 😢😢

  • @georgettedebuhr2660

    Great video. Nice area. That wasn't exactly s malfunction. The gates will rise if a train is sitting at a station for a while. Those cars have a nice design going through the crossing. Have a nice day 😊🌈

    Thanks Railrol! It is amazing that Broward and Palm Beach Counties are far more serious about rail service than Miami Dade County, but then again, why should that be a surprise? There is serious talk about a light rail line for Ft Lauderdale and Broward got the Intermodal Container Transfer Facility that SHOULD have been in Miami Dade County but was shot down! Broward also is promoting the little used Pompano Beach line as a Connector between FEC and CSX for passenger service! Palm Beach rebuilt its Northwoods connection and added a new line to it while not abandoning the other connection it already had! Contrast this to Miami Dade County, which stands ready to tear out the southern 12 miles of the CSX S Line and is steadfast in its promotion of busways instead of rail no matter what! Add to this the tearing up of the Ludlam corridor (Little River Branch) and the ex FEC main line from Dadeland to Florida City, and the fact that Brightline, with help from FEC, is responsible for the improvement of rail service in the county and not the local or state government! And certainly not CSX, who hasn’t seen a branch line that to them is wasted expense because it’s not profitable enough! This class one’s leadership is terrible! They would rather see a line ripped up than sell it to a short line or someone else who would make a go of it and at least try to get more customers and businesses to use it, thereby giving them MORE business! In my opinion, formed by a public education, and self study, the only thing that will save the southern S Line or get the FEC line from Oleander to Florida City restored is a MAJOR freight customer! Neither line will be rebuilt for passenger service or preserved with the current politicians in charge, given that they are beholden to the highway and trail lobbyists! The busway is a TRAVESTY AND A TOTAL FAILURE, as I and others have said before! The politicians will NEVER admit what we can plainly see with our own eyes! That would prove us railfans correct in what we have always said! I wouldn’t be surprised if the southern part of the S Line is removed soon in order to build the southern extension of highway SR 874 or yet another busway! I hate saying this, but it unfortunately is far more possible than anything good in South Miami Dade County!

    Good catch on the 2 trains. I don't know about you but it irritates me when the gates go down and we wait, and wait, and wait, and then after a minute or more the train finally comes. What kind of morons program these devices. Enough of my rant for today. Have a good week. 👍🚂

    • @rupe53
      @rupe53 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      gates are likely programed by the same people who do traffic lights. It's all about the distance at the posted speed limit. If the train is not doing the posted limit on time then it screws things up.
