As a cheesehead, through and through, son of a son of a Wisconsin cheesemaker, birth to death, all of that...this documentary is the best I've ever seen. Thank you.
I am so proud to be a life long cheesehead & miss Wisconsin every single day. I hope & dream to move home to spend the rest of my life's journey in the state where I belong & love with every fiber of my being. Thank you, this is a treasure !!!
"That is until your mom & dad called for you to come inside." There were four of us children, who went various places to play. When it came time to dinner (supper, 6:00 pm); my mother would ring a very large bell at her doorstep. We didn't always hear the bell - - but some of the neighborhood kids heard it. They alerted us. I believe we never missed a supper.
Interesting video, I really enjoyed the shots of your home town. Except your first crush was a Greene, and the IGA across from the post office, the family photos with the twin classmates that I was in school for 13 years with. Yes I am from Cameron, even went to the class reunion your brother held in the old school for us. It all brought back many memories, thank you for that. Rob
Believe it or not, the name "Cheese Head" came from, of all places, Chicago, Illinois. A famous Sun-Times columnist, Mike Ryko, put it in his daily "blog". He was driving "up North" in Wisconsin, and got stopped by one of Wisconsin's "finest". He got a speeding ticket...and ALL HELL broke loose on his column when he vented about "all things Wisconsin". Someone on the South Side of Milwaukee read the article and made the FIRST triangular, yellow, cheese hat out of foam rubber. He wore it to a Milwaukee Baseball game. People saw it...wanted it...and the rest is history.

Wisconsin is America's cheese capital, and it's also where they make more toilet paper than any other state. All that cheese has to go somewhere, so grab it with something where it will do the most good. Don't forget it was the birthplace of Senator Joe McCarthy and the headquarters of The John Birch Society. They also love beer and alcohol. Never use drugs or alcohol. You could become Republican.
