- In the context of the Moldovan National Program for the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (WPS), the Ministry of Internal Affairs from Moldova continues to promote an equitable framework in which everyone can contribute to building a more efficient and responsive security sector.
The video presented is intended for citizens and employees in the security system to understand how important women's role is in this field. In the informational film, women in security structures talk about what motivates them at work and how much effort they put into being high performers.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, which holds the Secretariat for the Implementation of the National Action Plan on the WPS Program, is engaged in an institutional transformation that supports a wider representation of women in security structures to ensure the principle of gender equality. All institutions in the field of national security contribute to this program, from the Police to emergency services and military professional training institutions.
Women currently represent 28% of the MIA workforce, with 9% in senior decision-making positions, showing progress in gender inclusiveness. Women within the MIA have demonstrated, through various roles in the country as well as active participation in international peacekeeping missions, that they are active agents of change in security, public order and defense. In the video product presented, they express their vision of a sector that protects the rights and ensures the needs of all people, emphasizing that gender does not matter when it comes to active contribution to this field.
The MIA’s commitment is clear: regardless of gender, all those who have the vocation to serve and protect citizens are welcome. Promoting gender-sensitive leadership, developing inclusive policies and integrating the gender perspective into all aspects of MIA’s activities are just some of the steps that are already being implemented in this regard.
