Before this song even starts, I always have cried when I hear it and always love it. My husband would hold my hand and look at me like I was beautiful no matter what unkempt state I was in. That is but one reason I miss him so. He fulfilled that promise every day. He was my only dream. It mattered not where we were or how little we had or how much. As he wrote me in one of the last notes he wrote me, we love each other no matter what. I'd live under a bridge with him. Now my hope is I will live with him forever in eternity.
This is why they call him King George So Beautiful such a soothing sound .Love him His concerts are so much like the sound , just soothing and even though he just stands there, That's all you need! He doesn't dance around just his presence entertains Thanks for sharing You are right a great wedding song
This was the song my late husband was singing to me 4 days before he passed in Iraq. That's was 15 years ago. I hadnt listened to it again until today. Thank you for reacting to it.
Honey God Bless you!My late husband was a 20 year Military Man. Thank God he came back from 2 tours in Vietnam. That was 4 years in country. Took him awhile to stop lashing out in his sleep. We had a ton of broken lamps. Every time this song came on the radio he held my hand and looked into my eyes, my soul and he meant these words. My dream was just him. He gave me himself every day. I will never be anyone elses wife. I will miss him til I see him again. ❤
@@Teresia12 I'm so sorry for your loss. Trust me I fully understand. I have raised our two children alone. It's been 15 years and I still haven't dated. If you ever need to talk I'm here. Us military wives need to stick together.
@Jamie Miller I'm so sorry for your loss, and am honored that you were able to listen to it today. Welcome to the channel, and keep the faith---your comments are always welcome here. :-)
Needed to add another comment, as I wrote the first before watching. LOL at a lot to live to up to. He was only 21 when we met, maybe he didn't know better at the time. We did hit a storm and lost our baby at 38 weeks, after 10 years of infertility. I've seen many couples not survive a loss like that and I'm grateful for the love that got us through.
@A Day In My Life Ouch, I'm so sorry about that whole turn of events you went through. I just can't even imagine, but I'm glad you made it through with your man. I've seen these things break people apart too, which is salt in the wound. Thanks for sharing that because others deal with things that are brutal and it makes folks feel better knowing that there are others who can relate to whatever they're going through.
Don, have you seen Pure Country? If not, SEE IT TODAY! The soundtrack Pure Country all must own. So many great songs. One of the best “When did you stop lovin’ me”. Also, great movie! I loved seeing the old dancehall (Gruen Hall) that we used to go see him at, and the Texas landmarks and just the genuine “country ways”, it was not acting, it was so real. Lastly, the RESPECT George gave to his wife, although Pure Country was a love story, he never once crossed the line with the actress. A hug was all she got.
The video clip from the movie where he sings this makes it even more poignant. The girl he loves doesn't know he a famous singer and he puts her and her family front and center at his concert in Vegas and surprises her. Definitely a tear jerker ending to the movie "Pure Country".
Fair point. I am a much bigger fan of Straight than Jones, personally. I was way more into Haggard back then. But there is no denying the amazing influence of Jones.
I always loved this song. I watched the movie when it first came out n theaters. Seven years ago my wife was diagnosed with cancer. In the worst of it, she wondered why I was still there. I told her that I made my vows and that I would never break them. She looked confused. I said “ in sickness and in health til death do us part, you’re not getting rid of me that quick.” She is cancer free and we are still together. And I don’t see it ending any different from her after what was confirmed at that time.
This was the song we played at my wife and I's wedding along with "Forever and Ever Amen" I play guitar and sing...but can not make it through it in front of my wife
I almost fell out of my chair when i heard my screen name said! Yes I have a small channel here, but with kids out of the house, try and fill the time with work and DIY stuff. To follow up on my original comment/request, Hubby was super excited about the concert tickets on Christmas Day!! (Got him a new George Strait hat for the occasion as well) I'm still not sure how I kept a secret for over 6 months. He played this for me on our 3rd date. Didn't make a huge thing about it, just popped the CD in and asked me to listen to the words. We were married 3 months to the day of our first date, and will be celebrating our 22nd anniversary next month. Thank you so much for reacting to this for me!❤
@Fun Videos Speaking of accents, here's one I did a few months back. The dude in the video came on here and commented about the making of the video, so run through the comments and you'll probably get a good laugh. But the video itself is hilarious, especially the more you watch it. th-cam.com/video/0WL9GDpQr3g/w-d-xo.html
You can find a video with the scene from the movie "Pure Country" where he is singing the song but it doesn't hit home unless you know why he is singing it.....
@Mary Moody Funny, I was just at a southern wedding in South Carolina, with all those love bugs polluting up the joint---ha!! They didn't play this song, but I now know to look out for it. :-)
Don , have you heard “I got a car” by king George strait ? I would really like you to do this song !! It’s one of his later songs but deff a story telling song that I believe you will enjoy !
I finally listened to his new album as I was afraid I wouldnt like anything on it as much as the classics. My new fave of his is Old Violin. It sounds like a goodbye song to me.
I think you would understand the song better if you saw the movie Pure Country and you were able to put it into the context of the movie. Great movie!! One of my favorites.
Not my kind of song really, but I enjoyed reading the comments about how much this song meant to them and how many had it as a part of a very special place or relationship for them.
@Morten Christiansen That was my take on it as well, after seeing the comments. Sometimes I have no idea how much a song means to someone, and then the comments start pouring in....
8.1!!!!!!!!! You need to see the video from Pure Country or at least the ending of the movie where he sings this song. I had a young lady ask me what was so special about George Strait. I told her, he has been the most consistent man in my life (not including my brothers) since about 1981and he has never let me down. I have been to numerous concerts of his (some by myself) and he doesn't need flashing lights and stage shows, he just sings. He also knows how to wear a pair of Wranglers. (is that sexist?) I think if you knew the background of this song from the movie it would get higher than 8.1, but I am biased. Mr. Strait could sing a telephone book, if they still have them, and I would listen.
I agree with everyone else, you should watch Pure Country. Just not with my buddy, Paul. I’ll explain... Without revealing too much, in the movie, he plays a singer. At the end he sits on the edge of the stage and sings this song to his girl. It’s the perfect ending, touching moment, and everyone in the theater is crying. Except my buddy. Pauly stands up, mid-song, and says, “What a bunch of dopes. Am I the only one who noticed he didn’t even bring his microphone with him?! So there’s no way she can hear him right now. What a crock of sh*t, I’m done.” And out he walked. Of course, I was guilty by association so I left too lol To this day, I have no idea if that woman could hear George or not 😂
Sorry, cant listen to this one. My best mate came back from Iraq playing all sorts of George Strait, introducing all of us to his music. PTSD got him in the end, breaking my heart into a million pieces. I cant listen to any George Strait now - just too painful.
@Jolly Bridge-Burner Ouch, I'm so sorry about your friend and how that all went down. I totally get not being able to listen to certain music when it reminds you of someone and something that hurts so deeply.
My son was singing at a festival and he called his girlfriend on stage, proposed and then sang this song to her. 💕💕💕 They just celebrated 12 years.

George sings this song to his "love" in the movie "Pure Country".
George did a good job "acting" in this movie - since he pretty much played himself.
You have to see Pure Country to really get this song.
Great flick.!

Beautiful song
My favorite George Strait song! But I always go back to where he sings this in the movie that makes it a more powerful song.
Oh and, I guess when King George says, you'll never find a love as true as mine" you can bank it. He's been married for around 45+ years. ;)
King George II, King George is George Jones lol

He put out a collection of songs one time called "50 number ones". He through in a new bonus track and it went to number 1 too.

@A Day In My Life I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself with the potential chair incident!! And glad you enjoyed it so much--it was my pleasure. :-)
Hey you're right it's not super deep and it's kind of sap but those were the early nineties of country I guess.
He got his start singing at the Schofield barracks talent show when he was in the US Army in Hawaii

Can you consider doing “You don’t even know who I am “ by Patty Loveless? In my opinion, the Queen of country!
