The snake bit scene reminds me of the old Superman series with George Reeves. He confronts a bank robber and the guy starts shooting at Superman and Superman stands there with his hand in his hips with a smirk on his face as the bullets bounce of his chest. Then the robber throws the gun at Superman, and Superman ducks. I’ll never forget that!
Yeah just the makeup on her face as on the other film of Superman the 2013 version is a little better and the villain that is with Zod, has in the 2013 version is way better than the one in the 80's version of Christopher Reeves movie of Superman.

The snake isn't biting her. It's a nonvenomous gopher snake and when threatened, they strike with a closed mouth, bumping their snout against predators as a way of warning them. The snake she incinerates is a mechanical model built by Stuart Freeborn for the film.

@Declan Clarke A lot of people including myself wondered that and someone guessed that maybe their super strength and powers didn't fully kick in yet but temporarily were only able to fly and perhaps when Ursa did the laser eyes was when all the powers kicked in where maybe she didn't mean to do laser eyes but she was just looking at the snake with anger and then zapped laser eyes without knowing.

The more you re-watch the scene the more movie mistakes you see. The red and black patch turns about 90 degrees from 0:17 to 0:19 and Ursa goes from holding her wrist and twisting to both arms straight down when the camera angle changes. I do give Sarah Douglas credit for being willing to handle a real snake though.
