    Your little buddy definitely idles you. When i was little I always loved going up the street when projects like that would be going. Trust me that kid will forever and always appreciate these moments.

    Excellent, I love the look! Much thanks to the previous owners for installing those 4x4 posts and all the extra hands was a definite plus!

    Looks great man! I would probably run a board on top of the joist to keep them from twisting on that front edge. I had done the same thing sitting them on top and toenailing after about a year they started twisting so I just added a 1x on top .

    Excellent video. Thank you. How do think having wood that will invariably dry out attached to the house? Do you think it turn into kindling??
    My pool equipment is in an area of my house that gets up to 115 degrees and i live in a very dry area. I worry a fire but will probably do something like this anyway

    Wow what stamina you have I could never do all that low level staining I think I would have to use a pole on my roller.

    Looks good. I think it would look even better if you close off the side at the corner of the house to completely hide the pool equipment.

      Thanks! I’ve seriously been debating that. Only reason I havnt is because those bushes will get really big

    • @PenaltyBoxWoodshop
      @PenaltyBoxWoodshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is! I’ll come back and use black deck stain or I’ll just spray it with clear coat.

    I know it's brick that you're screwing into so that part won't "rot", but are you concerned at all about moisture eventually wicking down the tapcon screws over the long term? I'm assuming you live were it doesn't get very cold in the winter? If moisture did find it's way in there and it did freeze I could see a potential issue there down the road. Maybe my thinking is all wet and won't be a problem.

    • @PenaltyBoxWoodshop
      @PenaltyBoxWoodshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, it doesn’t get cold enough long enough to be problem here but I see what your saying. Honestly I don’t know how you would prevent the water from wicking down the screw. Maybe, use a epoxy in the screw hole before driving it? What do you think?

    • @garywheeler1733
      @garywheeler1733 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PenaltyBoxWoodshop not real sure. Traditional "flashing" used when attaching a ledger board to siding would be difficult at best. Maybe a strip of the self sealing membrane that they use with shingles?

    • @PenaltyBoxWoodshop
      @PenaltyBoxWoodshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea that’s a possibility. It’s worth researching if you live in a predominantly cold area where it really freezes a lot.

      @@PenaltyBoxWoodshop yeah, I don't really know. I didn't ask the question with my own solution in mind. I asked to start a discussion about if doing something would be of any benefit. I tend to over think these kinds of things sometimes.

    • @PenaltyBoxWoodshop
      @PenaltyBoxWoodshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha overthinking is a good problem. Yeah, I don’t think I have a solution either but maybe someone will read this thread and have one. Thanks!
