    I am fascinated how Bangladeshi food has influenced British Indian restaurants. In the US, there are no British Indian (Bangladeshi) restaurants, and while I still love Indian food there is something very special about Bangladeshi cooking. While we all see dishes like Madras, Dhansak, and Rohan Josh on ‘Indian’ menus in the UK, it is very rare to find these at Indian restaurants in the US. What is it about the influence from Bangladesh that brought this wonderful selection of food to the UK?

    • @faykelly1065
      @faykelly1065 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello - I visit New York City often. There are many Bangladeshi groceries in Manhattan 2nd avenue but mainly in Jackson heights you'll find a thriving community with great restaurants and snack houses. I have friends in NJ who frequent Bangladeshi restaurants. I just did an internet search and found many throughout the US - I do hope you find some near you - unbeatable cuisine.

    • @jay71512
      @jay71512 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The british loved the food we accepted it very quickly so it was easy for them to make a much better living here than at home so many followed. There was a popular restaurant not far from me the head chef owned the place he ran it for about 20 yrs then gave it to his cousin and moved home to a house he built with the money he earnt here. Lets face it if you could work away for 20 yrs then retire and build a house who wouldnt lol. Cant fault the guys.

      @j86485 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's sad how so many Bangladeshi chefs and owners name their restaurants "Indian" instead of Bangladeshi 🙄 In fact most "Indian" restaurants aren't even owned by Indians! More Bangladeshi chefs and owners need to claim the Bangladeshi name on their restaurants. I understand Indian sells more as it's more known to westerners but the Bangladeshi name can offer that unique feeling and can be mainstream as Indian in the future if more restaurant owners claim it

    • @krisray9
      @krisray9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The dishes you referenced have roots in various parts of india. Madras - chennai TN, dhansak- gujarati parsi, roghan josh- kashmiri. Why would you think these have primarily bangladeshi influence, other than that many a chef in uk "indian" restaurants cooking these very Indian dishes are bangladeshi ?

    • @yaffacake22
      @yaffacake22 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Guess you didn't watch till the end then. There were several women. Some you could just hear them talk.
      There's a lot of hard labour going on inside for the women which they need to manage in time for the men when they have finished their outdoor labour.
      Generally, villagers are more shy than the city people. Maybe they didn't want to come in front of the camera.
      After a hot hard days work I doubt hardly anyone from the English world would want to put their face out without smacking a whole load of makeup on.
      Housework isn't easy like the UK. But it's still amazingly lovely to see and feel all this.
      The smiles and love seem to pop out of the screen.
