  • I never thought I would miss this simple design so much. For the longest time it was my favorite, and I incorporated it into so many of my doodles, but for some reason I left it behind for newer and more exciting designs. In this video I show you how I draw dynamic flowing surfaces using just simple curved lines. Whether you choose to keep it simple or you add lots of complex curves, this design is sure to become a staple in your drawing practice. Excellent for beginners and experienced artists alike.

    At first this looked like the ribs of an onion to me, and then a complex hairstyle. I love cooking and I love hairstyling, so of COURSE that's what I'd see. I think anyone would see what they love and want to see here. Thanks for the inspiration, maybe I'll draw an onion braid soon? 😊

    This "flow" is a good filler for me. I was changing style and tools completely to ink and dip-pen and like organic look-a-likes. so this flow often enough is a flower stalk or something and there is a lot going on between to of them. I mix it up with shells and snails and flowers of fabric ribbon (thanks for Your inspiration btw :) ).
    The shadowing is a hit. You can slowly build up a good looking 3D like visualisation. I like it a lot and is easy done. May the art be with You. And patience and confidence and inspirations. I have an abo on your channel, but do not feel stalked, only motivated. :) Greetings

    I’ve noticed this before on your pictures, and thought of hair. Or kelp forests, if it was with some marine type creatures. It didn’t especially appeal, in that I wanted to do it, until I saw you actually do it…then it was, oh yes, I get that! I found that interesting, that it wasn’t about the looks so much but the creation, the movement. And I really see how it is addictive and meditative and connecting…I am definitely going to experiment with it. I said ‘flow’ just as you did too, made me laugh!
    I think sometimes we can really love doing something, it’s a real passion, then something else takes our attention and it fades. I do this a lot, sometimes I go back to a thing, rediscover it and enjoy it again, sometimes not. I used to think it was a fault, but now I just see it as wanting to experience everything I can.
    Love watching you do these, love the commentary too. Thank you 😊❤

      I think that's why it's easy to find so many folks using this design. It might not always have the wow factor that other patterns have, but the joy of drawing it is immense. It's why we keep coming back to it 😊.

    Hi Betsi, thanks for showing the lines. Just by drawing lines and letting it flow can create so much movement and beauty.
    Do you use sakura micron pens for your drawings? I have many of them. Just wondering whether they are better as opposed to this pen you are using.
    Thanks

    • @betsi_jae
      @betsi_jae  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have never really been fond of microns. They are wonderful at first, but they feel much too delicate. If you have a gentle hand you might enjoy them, but my personal favorite pen when it comes to big brands would be the Fudenosuke from Tombow. The smallest pen I use now is a 0.1 made by pentel called the pointliner S20p. I prefer these over microns.

    • @chenkeith7272
      @chenkeith7272 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the recommendations. I agree with you on the microns. The flow of ink are not always great and after a while there isn't any flow of ink anymore. It happened to a few of mine. I never understand why.

      Because of health issues I'm often drawing while laying down. And I use a lot of colored pencils. So I like a pencil sharpener with a receptacle, that is one that contains the shavings. I'm really enjoying the Prismacolor sharpener which has two options. One is for the regular shorter point and another option offers a longer point. Plus, it's really good for the colored pencils which are softer and tend to break easier.
