Well said. This is Ukraines gamble of the year. The last counter offensive did not work out for Ukraine, why would this work? Russia was caught with its pants down. How much of an army does Ukraine have? Reserves? This is a very dangerous move, and will not work out for Ukraine.
But it looks more like NATO now not Ukraine but they will deny anyway
Ukraine simply doesn't have the sufficient number of troops to capitalize on this temporary "victory" in Kursk. For them, most of them this was a one way ticket.
Yeah if they really got like 10k troops together for that "raid" thats a pretty poor outcome to be honest and as you said they totally failed to get through the Russians in Ukraine.
Therefore they picked a way easier fight but 28 villages als settlements ? Okay then

Basically, they dig their own graves.
From a Russian perspective it's easier to destroy the AFU by having them come to you rather than to go hunting for them.
It may have been that the Russian military stood down so that the Ukrainians advanced towards Kursk. This formed yet another cauldron for the AFU in which the Russian military is now eliminating.
Agreed.👍👍
No exactly. Russia cannot use their overhelming artillery advantage into their own cities.
Actually their is a Theory that Russians let it happen for the frontline in the east to ease. Ukraine invading Kursk, civilians evacuated from Kursk and now Belgorod. It means Russia can unleashed its fire power with no restraint without civilians.
Russian frontline in the East is expanding fast currently 15-08-2024 10KM before reaching Proskov, they are now getting closer and closer to the main goal. While Ukraine's focus is their Kursk invasion their Eastern defense got weaker.
Agreed. And it has worked out quite well, as Ukraine has gambled and failed to get its ultimate prize the Kursk NPPSrtation. As we speak the incursion is being driven back with less and less territory being captured by Ukraine. What a waste of manpower and resources.
Russia could announce upcoming nuclear weapons "testing" on its own territory. They don't actually have to use them. They just give a time/date and see what happens.
It's not the most interesting thing, it was leaked online that the U.S. is making chemical weapons in Georgia
All this will do is redeploy Ukrainian forces from the Pokrovsk region where Russian troops are gaining ground. Its only a matter of time before the small Kursk incursion is cut off with no supplies. Zelenski trying to set up a Ukrainian administration in Kursk shows this comedian never fails to provide more entertainment.

😂😂😂👍🏴
I'm gonna post another guy's post because I think it's insightful. Take note, this is a repost of another person's comment whom I think knows what they're talking about!
//Everyone who posts about "Ukrainians taking territory in Kursk oblast" or "Russians retaking territory in Kursk oblast" is either really stupid or lying to you for clicks. That is not the kind of fighting that is occurring there. It's mostly small teams trying to spot each other and then hunting each other with drones and artillery, or trying to ambush each other. There is no frontline, and most of the map painting for either side is based on a 5 man team driving through empty villages and snapping a pic while pursuing the enemy. The truth is that we simply don't know who has fire control over what village at any given moment, and it's not the kind of positional warfare where that matters. The Ukrainians are trying to find places where they could dig in and establish supply lines; the Russians are consolidating a defensive perimeter and gathering reserves from where they won't weaken the actual strategic battlegrounds. The actually important questions are whether/when the AFU can establish supply and when the RuAF can coordinate the resources for a sweeping purge of the afflicted area. Russians driving through a village and not seeing the Ukrainian DRG team in the woods nearby does not matter for the overall situation; neither does Ukrainians posting pics from villages they drove through four days ago. Neither of these is newsworthy or has strategic impact.//
Interesting analysis. 🤔
Correct, but the West does love to exaggerate
WELL STATED SEBASTIAN
YOU HAVE SOME WELL EVALUATED THEORIES, AND VIEWS.
I ENJOY YOU'RE COMMENTARY.
KEEP IT UP.
You thought that russians "invited" them in this raid? They invited them deep in Russia so they can keep them occupied when the chess is done in another areas? If you look at the map, a russian attack in the south of the pocket can izolate all the ucrainean forces into Russia???? They practically are in a pocket!
I honestly don't think the Russians "invited" them in, even though it can make perfect sense. I honestly think that there was gross negligence at play on the part of the Russian Command. For these ukrainian forces it's a one way ticket. There's been others, much bigger ones who entered Russia (Napoleon, the mustache man). Getting into Russia was never hard, but getting out if it ... it's impossible.
I fully agree with you I gave a similar remark❤
@@Sebastian_SasI think we should see the forces that was deployed on the flanks that was not activated when the raid started. I think they are drawing them in to cut of elite forces. Russia punishes incompetent commanders quickly. There is a bigger plan, even their artillery strikes seems inaccurate but it looks more like they are pushing the Ukrainians forward. There is no way Russia did not know about these plans.

I think you got it wrong ..this time .
The Kursk incursion was expected and got dealt with in a way ,that it was and is costing Ukraine/NATO big . The losses for Ukraine in men & machines are absolutely disproportioned to the Ukrainian gains . The occupied area is largely unoccupied...the Ukrainian troops are rattling ( after they were denied the occupation of the Kursk NPP )around in circles are getting destroyed day after day . The whole thing plays out to be of Russian advantage.
At the same time as the Ukrainian are making no progress in Kursk region ,western Donbas is getting bit by bit more liberated .

Though i have a thought all this is to end those talks of close negotiation and Trumps "I'll stop fights in a week". Maybe as a side task.
Russians already said "No negotiations from now on".
I think by the end of next week, things will become much clearer.
I hear a lot of people say that Trump will end the war. The reality is that the US cannot throw its weight around anymore. Trump claimed that he will support Ukraine if Russia refuses to negotiate, but the US is already doing that from day 1. Also, as soon as Israel needs help, he will ditch Ukraine in a heartbeat.
Sebastien is great at dissecting the invasion of Kerch, I really look forward to his commentary. He is smart and articulate.

Kerch?
Kursk, not Kerch.
Maybe Russia invited this. The situation is worse for Ukraine than Russia opening a new front, at least then they had defenders advantage.
No one is trying to see that. They just always assume Russians are "incompetent" for not doing this their own way.
I have to disagree. The Ukrainians can't keep soldiers there without draining them from important places in Donetsk. The Russians are almost breaking through to the city Procrovst which is the main logistics hub. Once that city falls, nothing will stop them from reaching the Dnieper River. The Russians were probably tempted to send troops to Kursch, but that would have been a mistake. As well, I heard the Russians knew in advance about the raid -- I don't know how true that is, but Ukraine is wasting a lot of lives for nothing. They haven't reached the Nuclear Reactor and are now fighting a needless battle that gets them nothing in the end. It's a bad PR stunt gone wrong.

It's very bizzare, isn't it ? To only have border guards and local police patrolling that area ... something just doesn't seem right.
My heaviest and the most big theories are the fact there is at least one or two traitors in whole chain of command in Kursk region RUAF
Somebody was doing nothing to spread word about concentration of troops and movements as well as moving troops to defend the area properly
The whole situation looks a bit like Krynky where one of the officers just gave plans of minefields and patrol areas plus guard posts to Ukies and that's why general Teplynski replaced previous commander of South forces under Kherson
So it kinda looks familiar

I agree with commenters who have said that this "raid" won't end well for the Ukrainians. Maybe as you note there were some tactical objectives, like a long shot gamble to capture the Kursk power plant or gain territory to trade in negotiations. But the first didn't succeed, and it's not likely the second will either. I think the incursion is more likely to harden Russia's stance in negotiations and its resolve to make certain its neighbor will never be able threaten it again. Meanwhile, Ukraine will have sacrificed 1000s of its best trained troops for no strategic gain. Yes, Sebastian, you were right initially. This "raid" was fundamentally a PR stunt to foster continued NATO support.
Thank you for your articulate and well-supported assessment.

@@brianmurray1395 Russia wil become big North Korea 😂
That said!..........Had Russia beefed up the area defence it would have been a somewhat token concentration! Any raid to get to the NPP would need a substantial force ! Creating a potentially high casualty battle. That would have only slowed that advance by two days or so.
Leaving this rural countryside relatively unguarded was not a mistake but a calculated gamble! As long as the NPP was guarded , which it certainly is now! Secondly the US Administration had assured Russia it would not allow Ukraine to use its armour and weapons to cross the border under certain reciprocal arrangements! Being to do with Odessa.
Ukraine will not get the power plant ! Casualties can be kept low and Ukrainian losses will be high with a battlefield impact on the rest of the frontline! So in summary I agree that a major military conflict is never entirely one sided! Compromises are continuously made! Look at WW2 the back and forth looked ominous till the Soviets had pushed the Whermacht out of Russia half way back to Berlin in 1944. This raid was all that was left for a embattled Ukrainian/NATO force . Any failure was really at diplomatic level if you can call it a 'failure' dealing with a 'Hydra' US Administration ( mythical two headed serpent). I now believe this 'betrayal' was planned at least a year ago!
The ramifications in what is also a high stakes gamble by the US are ongoing with Russia declaring negotiations are now impossible! Certainly with this US Administration in power!
In short what did this Blitzkrieg raid achieve? It certainly took the conflict into a potentially pre nuclear stance and ensured it sustained to at least the elections .
A extremely toxic act that was the ultimate Rats 🐀 tail .
Which is a monstrous blow to the Ukrainian people by a ruthless demonic entirety, how many more Ukrainian people will be kidnapped off the streets to die at the front!
To satisfy the blood lust of this Ukrainian and NATO vampire cult.
Wars these days are like boxing matches where instead of normal 12,14 or 16 ounce gloves each team wears socker bopper gloves. I would love to be in charge of any random country at war in these times and show people how a war is won in just a few weeks.
I'd say that Belgorod raid was similar to this, but the entity as you say it responsible for the defense was much more competent, and also the attack might have been weaker.
Bravo for this video 😮😮😮😮
This is more like The Battle of the Bulge then Kursk Battle - the last move of a dead man! With one very importnt difference - the germans had a goal!
Agree Cosmin, this is Ukraine's last card. If this fails miserably (and we should know in the next week) it's lights out for them.
Also has mirrors with Arnhem in 1944 (a airborne incursion to capture the bridge over the Rhine to shorten the war) that was also driven, in part, by the serious manpower shortage the British army was beginning to experience in late 1944
If Ukraine fights too the last man. Who really is the winner?
all i can think of is lord denethor. an illegitimate leader sending faramir with some of his most elite units to a pitiful sacrifice. all for nothing. nobody learns from history. ever.
Not just the border. To have no reserves able to react in the area is unforgiveable! Fair play to Ukraine, they caught Russia with its pants down. However, Russia is not going to allow them to stay. They can dig all they like, it hasn't stopped the Russians till now.
Fully agree. This is why a country at war always emerges stronger from a military doctrine perspective. Mistakes will always be made and it's important to draw the right conclusions.

" Never check the teeths of a gifted horse. "
The attack of the Kursk region as you mentioned is very loud PR-spirited action, but don't forget the political charge and pressure, what is mounting on Ukraine's back neither. All of us already know, this kind of "gifts", what Ukraine get like supports are already over-reached the possible limits, what makes them to equal those bills, what they are need to pay it back once. Also, the Nord-Steampipe incident case is shading them hardly as well, maybe deeper then ever before. If they're can't make a critical success in short turn, they are lost, and that success need it to be the loudest as possible, and I think thats the occupations of the Atomic Power Plans, which is capeable to do massive damage for Russia if thats going to be reality. But I don't think so, 'cause Russia knows all of these, Way better then anyone else. Ofc, this is my opinion, and I just want it to mark these important issues behind these actions. I see it as a trap. Russia left the border sparsely protected because the leadership assumed that Zelenskiy's forces would not want to march straight into a potential cauldron. This implies that the leadership saw Russian territory as a cauldron -- and so it will become. Moreover, the world now sees the Kiev regime as an aggressor. What seems like a blunder is actually genius.

Ukraine is a minor issue compared to what Russia will face in the following decades if they don't resolve this fast.
