I wonder why the penalty episode at 10:04 was not evaluated with the VAR and not even sanctioned. A penalty much more evident than the first one. There are too many episodes against Brighton. I understand that it is a small team, in the panorama of battleships in the EPL, but a little more intellectual honesty and objectivity would help to make it more correct and fair. Especially for the show that these small so-called teams are able to produce. Brighton have dropped at least six points in the table due to a lack of a political clout, weight. If they managed to rank for Europe, it would be a great achievement. In spite of a class of referees who, removed 3 or 4, are not at the same level of professionalism that most of the teams in the EPL are able to express.
The first one is a penalty as his hand is outstretched and stops a certain goal. The second one his hand is by his side, he's trying to get it out of the way and it blocks a cross not a goal bound ball. I understand it but as a Brighton fan I would've loved to see it given and us get 3 deserved points, battered them but they were very clinical!

The only exception is when the arm is close to the body. In the images, the defender's arm is anything but snug. Another hint: observe the reaction of the Brentford player immediately afterwards. Sounds like a regretful admission of awareness and guilt to me. I add that it is not written anywhere that it must be a shot on goal for a penalty to be awarded. In this specific case it is a cross that "could have" resulted in a goal. PS: I'm also a Gulls fan (at distance) and a daily reader (lurker) of the NSC forum. 👍
We couldn’t win this, and we’re bit frustrated about it, but it’s great to score 3 goals against Brentford, and I guess Brentford fans are more frustrated.
