  • Erica Herbst shares her remarkable journey to recovery after a devastating stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis. A lifelong athlete, she was used to having teammates pulling her up when she needed it most, and in her time of need, that team was Monmouth Medical Center.

Congrats on keep it at bay. When I was on chemo to fight triple negative BC stage 3. I ate a lot of organic broccoli sprouts, and it did sure seem to help shrink the tumor remarkably. This was my experience. I grow them now in qt wide mouth jars. One caution I have is that if you are hypothyroid you need to check with your Dr before using the broccoli sprouts. I send you so much love, light and healing energy! You are a true warrior. ♥ If you research the broccoli spouts you will learn that they are a very powerful way to fight cancer and cancer stem cells, it kills the stem cells.

Hi there, for the broccoli sprouts, how much did you each per day/week? I’m a little unsure on serving size for anti cancer benefits!

They might want to get rid of that bell, often when they ring it, there are other folks who are terminal and will never get to ring it, have some compasión for them please

It's for anyone who completes their last round of chemo. I got to ring mine after round 12. It's a happy thing. We have to be happy for others who complete their chemo. It doesn't mean they are cancer-free. The fight goes on forever.

This is misleading. Many people get a complete response to stage 4 with treatment... that doesn't mean it's gone for ever. If she's still cancer free in 5 years, 10 years, then that's a story! I'm stage 4 and got to N.E.D., no evidence of disease for 2.5 years. Then it came back. Still working on it, 5 years into a stage 4 diagnosis.

I agree. Just because a person rung a bell doesn’t mean they are cancer free. They deserve it.

My doctor started me on tablets (ibrance and letrozole) and not chemotherapy. I have the same diagnosis (estrogen positive) and I do not understand why my doctor says she will not give me chemo. I'm so confused and I don't trust my doctor. What is going on?!?!?!?

I have estrogen positive stage 4 breast cancer. (spreads to liver and bone). I consulted 5 doctors for treatment opinion. Only one doctor tells me to treat with hormone tablet, but others suggested 2 cycles (6 chemo) of chemotherapy and then continue with hormone tablet. Now I have completed 5 rounds of chemotherapy. Now I have no lumb in my breast. Completely disappeared

You don’t “recover” from stage 4 mTNBC. You can be disease free of progression, but not considered actually removed. There is no cure as of yet for stage 4. I am currently stage 4 mTNBC
