Man I absolutely love this TV show back in the 70s! I think every kid from that time. Wanted to be a c h p officer especially a motorcycle cop! I'm now 51 years old living in New York, and still wish I had pursued a career in law enforcement. The chemistry in this show was perfect! It's so cool to see the locations 25-plus + years later
The guy who ignited the flames also played a bar tender on an episode of Three’s Company when Jack thought a nun was in love with him. Keep these coming. Going home on 3hrs.
Recognize that area Slauson Ave and La Tijera in LaDera Heights. It has not changed much. They used to film CHIPS alot in the Playa Del Rey area also near the airport.
Notice in most of these that you can see the Chips camera crew’s lighting in the reflection of their sunglasses. Also I can’t believe how much smog there was in the 70’s. That background tower near the end is way clearer in 2017.
I believe it's between the 5700 block of Shenandoah and 5700 block of Sherbourne Drive. In the episode "Supercycle" season 2, they referred to this scene as the "Wall of Fire"

It would have been a lot better if they had used a shark tank instead of a flame curtain. ;)
