    FINALLY, the video I have been looking for. Everyone keeps showing you how to do it without accounting for the fact that some of us have a bolt on.

    Wow. I had no idea you could change this so easily. Thanks for the video! Why Schwinn didn’t do this from factory is beyond me. It looks virtually the same, cost and assembly wise. Too bad I sold the stock Al comp I had, I would’ve done this immediately.

      I started looking around after I repacked the bearings on a bike with a quick release. Turned out there are lots of kits. I may buy a few extras just to have them on hand.

    Good day , pls i am trying to buy a bicycle with a bolt on / solid spindle shaft from the factor , but i intend to take out the rear wheels and then mount the bicycle to a smart trainer that comes with a QR and thru axle lock system , pls i have this question that i would like to know before i make the purchase , will the bicycle rear wheel frame (that is folk slots and drop out ) be and issue for me to use it on the smart trainer that is after taking out the wheels ? ,, do i have to make any amendments to the frame (folk slots and drop out ) so i can mount it to the trainer , pls help , i am asking this because in this video u changed a bolt to quick release but u never showed if u did just mount to quick release finished wheels back to same frame using the same Folk slots and drop out from the bolt on wheel without any issue , thanks and hope someone can answer me ..

      I reinstalled the stock wheels. As to whether this will work with a smart trainer, I do not know since I do not have one. I suggest you contact the trainer's manufacturer.

    Let me see if I understand, when you do remove the wheel, you have to use the quick disconnect and pull out the entire axle/skewer?

    • @JimsObsessiveCyclingDisorder
      @JimsObsessiveCyclingDisorder  ปีที่แล้ว

      no, I replaced the solid axle with a conventional quick release unit. It's just like any other QR, you just loosen the lever and remove the wheel.

      measure the distance from each end of the axle, and choose the closest match, but not shorter.

    I'm looking into making the switch so I can use some other accessories that necessitate quick releases (new forks and a disc brake frame adapter), but some of the reviews said the axles had a tendency to bend. How have these been holding up for you?

    • @JimsObsessiveCyclingDisorder
