Yes he's wound up tighter than an 8 day clock BUT you can hear him and he explains everything in detail and visually. How many videos on here have you watched where you can't hear or see the person and you really don't know what they're talking about ? I was a little annoyed at first but then I realized he was passionate about beekeeping and what he was sharing/teaching.
If you fill it with frames of foundation the bees have more room to hang out, stops the clumping. And grab a plastic gate from your hardware store for the front hose entrance👌🏻
This is the best vac concept I have seen. I am finishing off our vac today with one modification. Instead of the holes in the top I am using vacuum blast gates to regulate the pressure and connect the hose. Excellent video. Thank you.
I built mine pretty much the same way except mine has a removeable screen panel in the top section. This way you can set the hive on top and pull the screen open slightly or fully open allowing the bees to migrate upward into the new hive. All without the use of protective equipment. I also found that if the vac is primed and painted, it seals the small gaps in the woodenware that cause suction loss. This way you can use a smaller quieter vac.
Nice, staying with the subject, telling whats needed, and not a whole life story like most others on youtube. No need to make 3-4 videos over 30min each, to show how it's made and used. Thumbs up
Al is an excellent teacher and very passionate about bees. I've been to home when he was removing bees and he was teaching those watching while he worked.
Elegant design. The only improvement I'd make would be to mount the vac motor on top, rather than have 2 hoses, and an extra slider board connector. Keep up your enthusiasm!
I built one similar to that design last year and it worked great, as far as the shouting if you were paying attention you could hear others making comments leading me to believe he was trying to teach a class without a microphone
Super agree with all the positive notes here. I am a "experienced" HA, Bee keeper but this was incredible. I was planning to do something similar but was stuck on how to weaken the vacuum cleaner's power. Thank you for some very easy and creative answers. Same for the weatherstripping idea.
On two occasions I have captured swarms using a robbery vac similar to your design. The question is, why do the bees that I suck die even when I adjust the suction force? If I reduce the suction force too much, the bees do not enter the bee vac hose.
I am just getting to your video! I love it. It isn't clear to me about the 3/4" x 3/4 strip and how it forms a lip for the top panel to fit flush since I think everything I make is made of 3/4" wood....Are there more detail to your design somewhere?
People actually laugh when he said to put it inside the car. Let me tell you something, if you build this box set up right, it’s safe to carry inside your car
I'm having a problem in what is the purpose in the bottom box other than attaching the vac. hose. why can't you just use two deep boxes with a bottom on one and make a top box to go over to deep boxes
why couldn't you put screen on top of btm box instead and just reverse which hose you hook to vacuum? That way you don't have to flip boxes over for bees to drop?
Hey! Didn't you teach shop at a State Prison for the slower prisoners? I knew I recognized you!!! You forgot to demonstrate right and left handed nails :)
+David Gormley-O'Brien I was just thinking that very thing I couldn't be around this guy long he no's what he's talking about but he's aggravating to watch
+David Gormley-O'Brien I think the reason he is so loud is because he is giving a "how to" with out a microphone. That is why he is sooo loud. And yes, you have to speak slowly when doing it because we all know how some people are when they are being shown how to do things. ha ha

I'm using this design for sure. Much better than all the others I have considered.
Thanks for the high energy presentation.
I still havent built this. Doing it today. April 11, 2020
@@f.demascio1857 Good luck with it, I might try it soon enough.

I agree great design I will be using thanks so much for the post

I would like to thank you for sharing. I have built your bee vac and it is awesome! Thank you sir!

Excellent information. Would love to see the rest of it. Thank you very much for your knowledge.

Probably the best thought out bee vacuums system in youtube land. Could be a bit better refined, but that's up to the bee keeper!
I think he swallowed a handful of yellow jackets before doing this bee vac presentation. ...which is very good.
DAMN!!!!! I like this brother!!!! He's very detailed and lives nothing to chance. And, he's very organized. Wow!!!!
EXCELLENT video, and good CLEAR instructions.
Going to build one myself!!
This is awesome Thanks Al!

Perfect. Nicely done, and love your enthusiasm. Thank you sir. :)
Is there anyway to get dimensions and instructions on busing that box
wouldn't it be a good idea to add padding around the bottom layer to absorb much of the impact on the bees hitting the side or the back of the box?
SOUNDS LIKE A BEESY KINDA GUY...
Who the hell keeps going, "Ooooh"?
How do you get the brood into the box?
Is there a place I can get a written plan for this
Awesome! Thanks alot!

Really good information. Thanks.
Is this guy selling sham-wow or oxyclean?
Use blast gates from dust collection systems in the holes
hello
do you sell one?

great vac build. Don't know how long I could stand to listen to this guy though, holy flying F***
good one !
you very good Sir.God bless You! what is your name?
NO MORE COFFEE FOR YOU!
tried your box today and it shouldn't be used with aggressive bees.. you tend to keep that little piece of wood shut
Amazing, thank you

and this kids is why you don't do drugs.
why are you shouting!!!!!
Oakleaf CJK He’s obviously teaching a class and wants everyone to hear (people in the back, older folks, etc.).
I bought instruction from woodprix and I build it very very cheap.
What an annoying instructor! Does he think he is in the army?
