  • Join us on an exhilarating journey to the Olpererhütte, a mountain hut nestled in the majestic Zillertal Alps of Austria!
The Olpererhütte is a mountain hut located in the Zillertal Alps, specifically in the Austrian state of Tyrol. Situated at an elevation of 2,389 meters (7,838 feet) above sea level, it offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. The hut serves as a base for hikers, climbers, and mountaineers exploring the region.
The Olpererhütte is nestled in the heart of the Zillertal Alps, within the Tux Alps subrange. It is positioned near the foot of the Olperer mountain, which stands at 3,476 meters (11,401 feet). The hut is accessible via various hiking trails and routes.
The surrounding area offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including hiking, mountaineering, and climbing. Popular destinations for hikes include the Olperer mountain itself, as well as nearby glaciers and alpine lakes. The hut also serves as a base for climbing routes in the region.
One of the main attractions of the Olpererhütte is the breathtaking scenery. From the hut, visitors can admire panoramic views of the rugged alpine landscape, with towering peaks, glacier-clad mountains, and verdant valleys stretching out in every direction.
    By Car:
From Mayrhofen, head in the direction of Ginzling and follow the signs for the Schlegeisspeicher Dam. Continue straight through Ginzling until you get to the Breitlahner toll booth. Toll of €15.5 per car is charged to drive the last 13,3 km to the dam. The road is open daily from 07:00 to 18:00 between mid-May and the end of October. The toll ticket must be displayed on your dashboard behind your windscreen .
Drive past the dam wall and park in the open area between the dam and the road directly at the start of the Olperer Hut trail (you will see a big sign next to the road on your right). If this parking area is full, there’s another one about 100m further. Parking is free.

In the mountains of Austria, no matter where, the weather can change from 25 crad and sunshine to snowfall and 2-3 crad Celsius within minutes! I'm Austrian and this has happened to me several times in my life! That's why it's important!!! Pack the right clothes. Rain jacket, sweater, long pants, hood and gloves! Especially if you are traveling above 2000m above sea level.

We didn’t start from Innsbruck. But I would plan for 2.5 hrs if you are driving from Innsbruck. Remember, the last part of the road is one way- 20-30 minutes for going up and then next 20-30 minutes for going down, so you may have to wait there. Check the weather carefully as it may be different at the bottom by the lake from the mountain top. This happened to us in Schafberg too; sunny by the lake, but foggy and windy at the top. It can ruin the plan.
      Good luck
