Wolfpack He is 71 years old now and he can still sing. Not like when he was younger, but he still can. His voice is a bit raspy and he needs a lower key now. Journey wore him out. They would put out an album and tour for about 9 months and then come home, make another album and tour for another 9 months or so. They did that for several albums back to back. Singing the way he did and with that kind of schedule, it would put a lot of strain on anyones voice.
No need for dancers, lights, projectors, sequins and colors .... when you are Steve Perry and you have Voice and Feeling 💕 just come ... 👏👍👌💕 This is Music and Love 💕💕💕
Well ladies, I think there is a line to get to him and I’m in it, always been my dream this man right here. Hope he knows how much luv we have for him🥰😍
While he was still excellent you can hear the rasp in his voice on his solo album here Street Talk. All those years and shows on the road took it's toll on his magnificent voice IMO
Do you know where that information came from? I'm asking because stupid "Rolling Stone" magazine named Steve Perry 76 or 70 in the top 100 vocalists. They're crazy!
@@tammyf.7864 I can’t remember where but I saw it on TV several years ago and it was a poll of fellow rock singers/musicians. Rolling Stone is full of shit and bat shit crazy ranking him anywhere but #1. Let’s be real.
Great voice for sure, right up there with Gregg Allman & Michael McDonnell. I hate ranking lists though because you can't reduce everyone to one style & one context. Diversity is spice of life.
@@gladtobefreeagain7375I'd rank him above Michael McDonald, even though I LOVE M.M. But I don't get the G. Allman thing. I'm open-minded, so please give me a couple of links that showcases Allman-s voice. (I never really listened to him ) Thanks!
Steve had a phenomenal set of pipes for sure. Great control and just that tiny ragged edge just at the right time. Never get tired of listening to him.
Goose bumps whenever I hear Steve Perry’s voice. “You Better Wait” and “Missing You” from his second solo album are beautiful songs that showcase his magnificent voice.
There will never ever ever be another Steve Perry. His voice is very rare and unique. He's truly THE voice. No entertainer today could rival his raw talent and skill.
When you have a voice like that you don't need anything but a video that zooms in and then out on you. My all time fave Steve Perry song. Nobody does it like Steve. ❤
You know he really likes the song when he has the stank face within 10 seconds of the first note!!! Love Steve Perry...She’s Mine, Send Her My Love, After The Fall (vocals insane here) yeowsa
steve perry has some good solo songs of his own. steve perry is the "face" of journey, just like dennis deyoung is to styx, lou gramm to foriegner. great singers, who put their respective groups top tier of all bands. what even makes it more special is that there were a lot of competition/talent during that time frame. bruce hornsby adn the range was another great group during the 1980's.
Open Arms Mother, Father live - Steve hits the “angel notes” at the end, I didn’t know a human could make that sound - it’s off screen as in the video they are showing Neil when he hits the notes
Yes. I happened to catch an old radio interview with him and he did say Sam Cooke was an inspiration. He sang a bit of "Bring It On Home" Sam Cooke with Lou Rawls on harmonies. I was smiling while listening.
Steve went away for 20 years... Took a mental break from the industry. Just came back last year with "No Erasin" 70ish and the voice is still undeniable
With Steve Perry as their front man, this band was always headed for superstardom. He has a set of pipes on him that in my opinion has yet to be matched :))
Remember being a teen and trying to capture the words for this song. It feels like yesterday, but I'm almost 50 and Steve is in his 70s where did the years go.
I think he has the most powerful voice I've ever heard. Faithfully was me & my first girlfriends song and she also loved "Why can't this night go on forever" which I never understood why it wasn't a bigger hit. Think it was off the raised on radio album
We all bow down to THE VOICE..The one and only STEVE PERRY!
The man is a CLASS-ACT. Hold on....let me find you something special and post it.
I said, no more Journey psych outs!

I been a fan way back in the 70s when Perry joined Journey .... HE IS JUST HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE EVERYONE ELSE
Steve Perry is my boo. Love how he just walks out, belts out a pitch perfect hit, like it ain’t nothing. Flawless as only SP can do. 🥰
Steve is like an angel singing. I think that even if there was no music it would be beautiful to listen to! Thanks for your reaction!
Steve Perry is the GOAT!!!
And that’s why we call him THE VOICE!
Love Steve Perry❤️
The fact that Steve is singing while sitting down is a testament to the power of his voice....so effortless.
Without songs like these...how do young people fall in love today?
Omg!! Steve Perry is the man!!! I know he is 71 but I'd take him!!! ❤❤

Steve Perry- his voice is his instrument and he plays it like no other.
Steve Perry is amazing…I’m a 53 year old black man; been a fan of his since the 80’s.
Brian May of Queen says that Steve Perry is a truly luminous singer and a voice in a million.
He should know, he spent enough time standing next to the greatest voice of all time
@@HanDrumsolo well, 2nd best after Perry.
@@HanDrumsolo He absolutely did. Freddie Mercury had the best voice.
I’d love to hear Steve sing a Queen song. What song do you think would work for him?
Steve Perry was the ultimate vocalist, and Journey will never be as great without him!
Yepppp agree
There just are no words. “The Girl Can’t Help It”, “After The Fall”, “Open Arms”. All amazing.
Open Arms I vote for!!!!
I forgot about "The Girl Can't Help It". My favorite:
"SEND HER MY LOVE".

Steve's voice continued to get richer as he got older and I appreciate a WELL-SEASONED voice honey

@@007ndc I like the rasp. He's awesome!
Songs from singers that could sing. Pure voice, love Steve Perry

The Sam cook of rock, Steve Perry 💯
A simple example of why they referred to Steve Perry as "The Voice"... And he earned it each time he sang.
The most beautiful male voice. Ever.
Yessss, I love Steve Perry with or without Journey, his voice is amazing, can't explain how I feel everytime I listen his amazing voice

Steve Perry is Journey and they can try to replace him but they will never be Journey without him. Hes just as good or better being on his own!
No, he’s not better being on his own!!
He belongs with Journey…it’s his identity…just like DLR with Van Halen and Vise Versa (in some peoples eyes)
