Awesome to see you play more of my game Squardle! Your last Squardle-video gave me a noticeable bump in number of players, so yesterday was the busiest my site's been so far! Now for some unsolicited play advice, that honestly wouldn't even have helped improve your result this time anyhow. At 8:22 when you guess SPRIG, you already know for sure that both the row and column start with "SP", and to solve SPRIG in the column you only really need to put "RI" in the correct position. So this is a typical situation where *not* guessing the word you think is the correct solution to get more information could be a smart play. Either to use more unused letters, or to learn more about the other possible words. In your situation you know that the top row has to be SPO_E and not contain an R. Admittedly SPOKE is forced if you know that SPODE (a type of ceramic ware) is a too uncommon word to be a possible answer, or SPODE is a too uncommon word for your to know it to even consider it. But let's assume that we're afraid SPODE might also be an accepted answer, or at least that we're worried something other than SPOKE could go in the top row? Then a big brain strategic play is to guess something that placed a D or K first, but still has "RI" in the correct spot, since you still get the bonus guess for solving all the letters in SPRIG even though we never guess SPRIG. KURIS would fit the bill. kuri (ˈkuːrɪ) n, pl -ris 1. (Animals) Also called: goorie NZ a mongrel dog 2. slang NZ an unpleasant or unpopular person English is my second language, so I'm not even going to pretend to be able to make these plays myself without cheating by checking a dictionary while playing. But I have been able to do it when I play in Swedish, and it adds another dimension to the game. Wait, no "dimension" is the wrong word here, that implies we're going 3D! Thanks again for showing off my game!
I very much like this game, though my eyesight makes it hard to see the clues. It would probably be helpful if if there were a mode where selecting a key would indicate which squares on the board can't be, might be, or must be that letter. Additionally/alternatively, it might be useful if letters that were being typed would turn red to indicate that they were inconsistent with clues on the board. Not that there would be anything wrong with playing such words [it would be normal for a typing correct vertical word to place some letters that would definitely be wrong for the horizontal word, and vice versa] but being able to have the game indicate for a typed-but-not-confirmed word whether any clues contradicted it would reduce the need to scan the grid for the tiny clues therein. Also, I find it hard to figure out how to switch to doing the daily game after practicing. Am I missing something?
@@flatfingertuning727 I'm all for accessibility updates and I have been trying to figure out what options are more helpful and less "playing the game for the player". My current plan is to have the keyboard letters give a better representation of the clues. Basically have them somehow give the relevant info for both the row and column you are about to input a guess for next. Without coding it and playtesting it I can't say for sure if I'll be able to make it show up in a way that's helpful and not just a confusing mess. It's on a post-it note with planned features and fixes, so I absolutely intend to at least *try* it. Right now adding stats and streaks is my top priority though, and it has been taking way longer than I intended already, so getting to this might take me a while. Thinking about how I could make the actual letters bigger now though... Zooming in on mobile likely loses you all the overview you need to be able to have it be useful to do so, but adding a setting to not have zoom disabled on Android wouldn't be difficult. (Zooming's already possible on iPhone. On desktop most browsers zoom in with "ctrl +".) But making the letters bigger all of the time *might* be possible? There could be a setting where you can have the small clues show up as a quarter or ninth of the big squares. So 2x2 small clues in the square until a square gets its 5th clue, then shift to a 3x3 grid of clues? It would have to be an optional setting though, because being able to know that every small clue in the same space in the square is part of the same guess does matter for the logic sometimes (since knowing if you've guessed multiples of a letter matters). To be clear: This paragraph is just me thinking out loud, so no guarantees on being able to make this work though.
@@flatfingertuning727 Oh, and if you can't get to the daily puzzle it's because you've already played it for the day. I'm currently only storing your latest game in the browser's cookies, as well as also storing what the latest daily puzzle who played was. So once you leave the "You won"/"Game Over" screen for the daily puzzle there's currently no way to go back and see your result for the day again. Changing this so you are able to see your daily puzzle result until midnight is on another post-it note of things I intend to fix in the future, because you are far from the only one confused by this!
@@furbyfubar Having an option so that hitting each key would enlarge every clue with the corresponding letter shouldn't come across as "playing the game for the player". On the other hand, I think it's also important to recognize that different people enjoy different aspects of the game. Some people enjoy scanning, but other people are more interested in focusing on their ability to think up words that satisfy various criteria. An option to enable or disable highlighting of places where guesses would contradict clues would allow the game to satisfy both categories of users.
An interesting quirk of Squardle as opposed to the non-grid-based games is that there's no need to guess the actual words to get credit for the answers. In, say, Quordle, there's a bit of anti-strategy in repeating letters in the positions you've already guessed them, but you're required to repeat those letters when submitting an actual guess at a word, with a minimum number of guesses required to complete them all. In Squardle, green letters are permanently filled in the grid, so when you're filling in the guess, it never hurts to consider other five-letter words that match all of the non-green letters you intend to guess, while substituting letters in the positions where you have green letters that will give you more information. So, if the G and I in GIRTH are already there, you get full credit for WORTH or BERTH, but more letters. There's also room to consider which letters overlap with other words you have yet to guess - leaving the second or fourth letter of a word open means you'll have to submit another guess for that row/column, but if you leave, say, the fifth position open, you can fill it in when you guess the last row/column and possibly save yourself a guess.
I was going to suggest this as well, and also mention that it's possible to complete two words in a single guess. For example, if the words that cross in the middle read S_ILL and GRI_E guessing CHAMP could simultaneously complete both SHILL and GRIME while also testing out the letters C and P. If the game awarded a free guess when typing a word precisely, but not for getting letters that happen to complete a word, this strategy wouldn't really help, but as it is the game will award two free guesses if two words are completed at once, even if one's guess doesn't actually spell either of them.
Yeah, I realized that forcing the players to enter guesses that they already knew 100% for sure too often wouldn't lead to fun gameplay. When there's a small risk that you could be wrong about your "it's this for sure" guess you feel smart when you're right, but just typing in the exact green letters in the exact spot you know they should go is just busy work that the game can do for you. So I will admit that I didn't make this design decision *because* it would lead to the interesting gameplay of making it possible to guess other words to hunt for more information. But once I had the game functioning enough that I could play it myself, this was emergent gameplay very much felt like a feature that should stay in the game, as rewarding players for having a bigger vocabulary is sort of an obvious and typical thing word games tend to do.
Oh my gosh, I got SOOO LUCKY on this one at first. My first word was Spike followed by something that ended in ER. But I couldn’t for the LIFE of me think of Order (cause the repeating r) and Epoch (just a word I don’t use often. Rodeo also confused me, at one point I was like “is it Romeo?” XD
This may or may not help, but you don't have to guess the correct words to turn all of the squares green. If you have any squares that have been solved and you know the word, it may be useful to see if you can find another word that solves the remaining letters but also solves letters in the other direction.
I feel like mount would be a better 2nd guess for arise, because you don't get the repeating c and mount also covers both all vowels and common letters ;)
I started with STORE which gave me the S, O, and E for SPOKE followed by ORBIT, LUNCH, SERIF, and REACH then i found EPOCH, I tried for SPORE just to get some of the letters i dont have in. But got stumped of RODEO a bit which came to mind after thinking of stampede, put SPOKE in and tried BIRTH for the bottom word which gave me IRTH, so the only thing that was left for me to solve was SPRI_ and _IRTH, which i put SPRIG because it sound like a work and got GIRTH out of that
Video 7 of asking if you could please do the word “mouse” for my mouse, dot that just passed away 🐭 ❤️ Could you also do “Black” since she was black, and “white” because she had a white Dot on her forehead 🐭❤️

I used nasty, liver, gumbo for today's octordle it was crazy.
nasy??
@@uglychicken121 nasy was probably nasty.
I prefer to change it a bit and go for hasty, liner, gumbo. I reckon h is better than v probably?
@@jonathannash8471 yeah
I finished with 7 attempts, I'm getting pretty good at figuring them out now!
You should try solving sedecordle, it's pretty hard
9:53 "whats called a pro gamer move"
On wordle you should try ratio, mends, and lucky three are supposed to help get it right every time
I try starting my Squardles with "react", "guild", and "phony".

I always start with arise. But I tend to follow on with couch as it has some common letters and it has all the vowels. You should try globle
I feel like mount would be a better 2nd guess for arise, because you don't get the repeating c and mount also covers both all vowels and common letters ;)
That’s like sudoku and wordle fused together
Try Raise and Ghoul to start!
Just managed to do Squardle for March 12th with 6 guesses remaining. That had to be one of the most difficult challenges.
In Wordle, play it so the next worde has to start with the last letter of the previous word, until u can solve
My two starters are piano and truce. They cover all of the vowels (except "y" I guess...) and a couple of the more popular consonants.
Order was also in the March 10th squardle I believe
I thought the english Word for the weapon which has a pointed Tip on a Long Stick is spelled spear and not speer
Yeah I thought I was going crazy for a little while, how no one was mentioning that 🤣
I always do STAIN, CHORE, PUDGY
i got it on my last try so anxiegty enducing

i just use tubes, fling, champ and wordy for everything and it works for me
I lost because I thought of odder before I thought of order
Use Salet its a great starting word
You have got to try the sedordle; its double the fun of the octordle if you know what I mean!
