    Even though it wasn't building I very much enjoyed this perspective! I think a subway cam would be nice too.

    Just an idea;
    What if you made a small park or such that's 1 base plate that you swap out with different seasonal scenes each with it's own swap-able base plate eg; like a big Christmas tree, Easter egg hunt, summer 'party in the park' or a Halloween party.

    Your collection of spare bricks may be surprisingly small, but with that comes our awareness of an overwhelmingly impressive efficiency in project management. Your city just became that much more an accomplishment. We can now see the size of your room and wonder, "Who else but Robin could have utilized this tight space so well?" Inspiration finds a new subway stop and we find ever more to admire. You do realize that when your room reaches completion we're going to demand a thrilling biography covering all your building adventures! Plainly, once you conquer LEGO IDEAS, you'll have to head for publishing next! :)

      Wow, haha. I'll have to move onto something that's for sure. Maybe a themed world? Anyway that's ages off. Thanks so much for your kind words!

    Nice to see the tables all completed. Can’t believe how much the room has filled up in just a year. Funny idea but you should have turned the door to the closet(?) into a barn door with the bottom half just missing the underside of your tables so you could still open it and crawl in. Shame not to have access anymore. 🤣🤣

    Thanks for showing us the unglamorous but oh-so-necessary behind the scenes preparation which needs doing before the exciting stuff can be done. More real estate is always welcome! I hope you haven't left any lonely LEGO sets in that now inaccessible cupboard 😱

    Looking 👀 in from behind the camera📽 shows how much work goes into the city, its not surprising that it takes ages to get the city built.

    Your parts collection is indeed a lot smaller than I expected, bit it does make me appreciate the way you work even more. Also with the "can-spacers". You are not only an awesome builder and designer, but a really efficient one at that. I'll be rewatching this to rethink some of my own layout procedures...

    • @RobinHoodBricks
      @RobinHoodBricks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I'm very economical with the money I spend and the pieces I use. Seeing other builders use expensive pieces in quantity where they won't be seen always makes me shudder!

  • @buddyhoward8963

    Great news, you do not have to worry about modern soda cans randomly breaking open due to the contents eating away, there is a plastic lining in side the can that prevents leaching from the aluminum to the drink and to prevent the can from corroding. If you were gonna do a subway cam, it'd have to be to watch the subway go through the stations, but watching the behind the scenes of the serene city of bricknottingham is a great way to show what it takes to create such an expansive city

    • @RobinHoodBricks

    Hi Robin, Thanks for the video again.
    You had me at ‘second subway station...’ 🤩😂
    Wow, that really is a small inventory indeed. That’s one way to look at it. The other way is that you definitely use the parts you have very well.
    Good to see the 1-2-3-podium bricks on our spare parts once again. Loved the set they came with as a kid, Victory Cup Racers!
    ‘If it ain’t in here, I ain’t got it....’ And thats why we thank Bricklink 😂
    Almost every Lego City AFOL: And here are my Linnmon tables 👌🏼, those scandinavians really empty up my wallet it seems 😂
    I can see that not everybody would enjoy this video as much, but for city builders this is one of the most important things to do, because when not planned good, you have yourself rebuilding and rearranging over and over, so thanks for sharing!

    As a city builder myself I very much appreciate this look at the logistics of how you do your setup. Most folks don't share the nitty gritty details, but i think the practicality of a setup is very helpful to show! I also wasn't expecting those last 2 tables to have the amount of space they do which will be great for the fair area! 😊

    A few suggestions. Where you made a split track. Could use that to make a subway train storage to store the subway when not in use. It be perfect in that area where you have split track section. Other suggestion is. You could use a jig saw and cut out notches where the new table legs are against the old table so it be flush with the new top table. Great setup and I look forward to the farm lego setup you build.

    Great video Robin! You have a decent amount of extra pieces. I like how you showed us your process of how you setup your tables and your future project of the fair grounds. I can't wait to see it! The soda can idea is a creative idea to get a consistent height, hopefully they won't leak 😨. I don't mind seeing the lighting tripods. I consider them part of what you need to show us your city so no complaints from me 😁. I also look forward to seeing the next subway station MOC and more of the hospital. Awesome video and keep up the great work!

  • @witerabid
    @witerabid 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Really great look behind the scenes! I always love to peek behind the curtain and see how things were made and I love seeing things in construction. Somehow it always makes it even more impressing in the end when there are no gaps left to look through. Also, I think the switchtrack might make a very cool detail to see from the subway station. So, instead of hiding it I'd put it right at the end of the station opening and have a wider tunnel or a split-off from the main tunnel with either some construction workers building more track or some mechanics performing maintenance on another subway train or the track itself. Or another secret base of another villain or hero with its own piece of track where they park their special subway track vehicle for special subway missions.
    I can't wait to see what's coming and I'm looking forward to seeing the city grow even bigger. I'm dreading the day you fill up that room though... 😅

    • @RobinHoodBricks

    Very educational as well as entertaining. I was amazed at the small amount of spare bricks as in my collection(over the last 35 yrs)has a vast amount of spare parts. I tend to just buy spare parts and create my moc from what I have on hand. I end up sometimes with a variety of colors while I continue to buy more parts. I was also struck by the smallish size of your Lego room. I am blessed to be working in a 20 ft x 15 ft space. I have taken over 16 ft x 4 ft of it at this time as my wife insisted on it being the great room so we have more room for the grandkids to play. The city will be so grand when completely finished. Using soda cans is definitely a different way, definitely considering that the cost vs extruded aluminum box’s or something strong.
    That looks like a n unused closet with door blocked by table now. If so why not knock the pins out of hinges and lay door on side under table behind box’s of projects. I was thinking another table with a giant mountain containing a motorized ski slope or any thing. Just having more space for more LEGO 😁

The other point is, (and please forgive me if I don't understand) you've done away with your build table. That was your build table with all the parts on it, wasn't it? Very cool video. It is great to see how you build up the under space. watching the subway witch does sound great when it hits the corner, I fear that lowering the table for the fair might put that in danger with it being over the top. but I am sure you have that all worked out. its great seeing that you don't have this massive amount of extra bricks that you are holding just using the ones you buy in brick hauls. Now for the question, you will get a ton of. whats in the closet that is now closed forever, and if it's empty you could pull the door and use the space for the scary woods every town has with the haunted homestead that the children dare each other to enter. a second question is do the cans have to be full? is it something that an empty washed out can could hold up or do they need the weight on the drink. I use empties in my shop to hold up a work surface because like you, I found its a set even height and lets my hand reach back to the plugs easier if I have to move a tool, I was afraid that the tools would crush the cans so I sealed the opening but I am crazy like that, just full of hot air... but then again.
    As always thank you for sharing your video and how you have things set up.

    • @RobinHoodBricks
      @RobinHoodBricks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the table hits the subway when a bit lower I can move them all right a bit and have a bigger gap to bridge there. That's exactly how it is on the marina side. The donut shop is not supported by a table.
      The closet has some of the bedroom furniture in it so can't be used.
      The cans have to be full to be strong enough. It's the pressure.
