"I wanna do action figure photography tutorials." Yes! Please do this! As someone who has amassed a respectable collection over the last few years and has gotten into dioramas for them, this is the one area I have no real idea how to proceed with and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Do what you like and what you enjoy. I don't care about any particular type of content I just like seeing people be excited about things. Also I suck at posing and dios so I fully support you continuing to give me a clue on what to do.

Never heard of your channel before sir and I can see the frustration. I just recently started a channel doing stuff I want to upload and I am sure it will be a process to fine tune it for me over the year. I do want to say I just subbed and will tuning into your content sir in the future 😊

You gotta do what you gotta do. I live in the Buckeye state as well and tried being a videographer and it didn’t pan out so I feel your pain and happy for you getting a full time job doing what you love. Congratulations!

Just watching this and want to encourage you to pursue your hobby the way you want to. If you are actually enjoying what you do it will show in your content and you'll be rewarded. Thanks for mentioning me here. That Goku video you mentioned is a good example of following your passion. Im not a "figure reviewer," I only have a handful of figure reviews on my channel, and even still I was able to have that video breakout for me because I put in a ton of time and research in about something I truly wanted to make.
My personal opinion is that many figure reviewers as so focused on quanity and being first. That's a road to burnout. In my experience quality is far more important.
Excited to watch your channel as it evolves into what you want it to be.

I think doing what you enjoy, especially considering this is meant to be part of your hobby is the most important aspect of the channel. Your authenticity has always been one of my favorite parts so im glad you took some time to be honest with yourself and I look forward to whatever you put out whenever you do.

It seems like you put a lot of thought into these changes and I fully support you in doing what needs to be done to bring the passion back. Maybe I'm not the norm but tbh I barely watch anyone's reviews any more, I prefer more meta discussions with multiple people like you guys do in the livestreams. I really like the photography tutorial and the comparison ideas you have. Lighting especially is something I feel like I don't see a lot of videos on.

Started a channel this year and reviews are hard. They take a lot of time and effort and if you aren’t interested in everything and buying everything you have a very specific group that watches your channel and you still need to get stuff quick and race to get it out.

You're right. Make what you like, or what you would like to talk about. The difference nowadays is in the different content, imo, not the same as the other 100 channels. I don't see why we need 1000 channels reviewing the same figure.

I say screw the algorithm and do what you want. Unless you’re depending on this for your income remember this is a hobby. Its supposed to be fun for you. And if you’re enjoying yourselves people will notice and come back for more. That’s what hooked me.

I think a bunch of folks will be dropping collecting, and TH-cam, there isn’t a lot of fun overall. Priorities are changing, something that we loved so much as kids has become something that everybody hates and complains about its draining.

  • @JB-bm1tx
    @JB-bm1tx 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hobbies are supposed to be fun. When they are no longer fun, it's time to reevaluate. I am glad you are taking the time to reevaluate what you are going to do.
Reviews are not really why I watch the channel. It's for the banter. So it's alright that you change your priorities.

I can see what you mean about the “must review first” mentality, but I would like you to consider that there are people out there that specifically want your thoughts on a figure. Perhaps only review something that you really love, but only occasionally.

Dude you gotta pray 🙏🏾 for patience and understanding 🙏🏾 the evolution in life. Dude every one is struggling and growing and with that depression ( the devil is a liar) so pray as for patience 🙏🏾 and look at things with new eyes 2024 media is trying to destroy our beloved heros losing what we really love and enjoy like Star Wara I only acknowledge the 1st 3 original films 🎥

The biggest mistake I see a lot of TH-cam "reviewers"/toy hunters/influencers, etc. is that they try to get the latest greatest thing. Be the first, they have that "Gotta catch them all" mindset. They burn themselves out, and then you see videos like these explaining that they can't do it anymore, that they are burnt out, it's not fun for me any more. You see them pour their soul out, sometimes crying, and apologizing. And I get all that. They just have to realize why they did all this, why they collect what they collect, what made it all fun for them. Get back to that mindset, and they are usually fine. They go back to doing what they liked doing on their channels or putting up a different channel. If you opened up a TH-cam channel for fun, keep it that, (no matter what others say), the minute it feels like a chore or work, that's when you will hate doing everything you do.

I understand the desire to “solve” the algorithm, to get big enough to have this be how you make a living… but honestly it’s a mistake to try to force that. Just do what you like and if you’re good your audience will find you. My favorite part of the channel is and always will be the discussions among fellow collectors.
The reviews are whatever man. Even when someone does get a review out first, unless it’s someone whose style I genuinely enjoy I end up skipping through 90% of their video anyway just to see the parts I’m interested in. Half the time they don’t even bother showing the comparisons or head swaps I want to see so I move on and find another review.
Honestly, I think the toy community as a whole is getting a little bit too… “commercial.” What I mean by that is everyone thinks/acts like they’re some type of influencer but then their entire presence starts to feel unauthentic. They’re no longer a collector, suddenly they’re a “toy photographer” trying to convince me that I need to buy a custom $40 headsculpt for my $80 import figure.
Two polar opposite examples of toy TH-camrs for me… you got J Hernandez who started out a humble reviewer who had a very captivating style for his reviews and is honestly great at posing figures in a way that feels lifelike, but lately I feel like every single one of his posts is really just an advertisement in some way. That really turns me off. Then you got Displaying Model Behaviour who just seems like he’s having the best time just chatting it up with people and talking about anything really. He’s admittedly not the best at posing and he can ramble and jump from thought to thought, but I’ll watch his stuff JUST to hear his thoughts on stuff, even if I had no interest in that thing myself.
I honestly think you should lean way more into the toy related stuff that you genuinely love rather than try to figure out the “algorithm.” Hopefully you don’t take this the wrong way because I do enjoy the channel overall, but there have been multiple reviews I watched from you that I’ve thought to myself “I wish he wouldn’t waste time pointing out the obvious and rather give us some personal insight or thoughts instead.” You’d say things during reviews like “then you got the blue pants with some wrinkles and then you got the red boots.” It’s like, yea… I can literally see that. Give me something that I can’t just see in the video while you show it off instead.
Anyways, wish you and the channel the best and definitely don’t let this hobby become “work.” Collecting figures is supposed to be fun man.

Toy reviews for the most part are all the same and pretty boring, with a few exceptions like YoJoeJerk. Toy hunting videos make me feel like I'm going crazy because it's the same shit over and over, I don't know how toy hunting channels do it, it's the definition of insanity. However, i do enjoy podcasts and livestreams, it's great to hear fellow collectors shoot the shit, show recent pick ups and discuss the hobby
