The song just brings tears to my eyes.. these boys can take a cover song and turn it around and make it their own this is what's so amazing about Home Free.. Their Talent is just not of this World I think they're all Aliens👽 Love you Home Free You're my Boys 🏡🆓🏡🍟
I am a Home Fry from the Netherlands. The best thing about Home Free is that they will try out which voices suit each song best. They don't have a real lead singer. There is no rivalry there at all. You just happened to listen to 2 sad songs. But there are also songs where they are really hilarious. They also have no ego at all Only respond on Mayday when you have listened to at least 5 or more songs from them
If you like Tim bass and Chance's baritone check out the cover of Dire Straits's "Brothers in Arms", Very haunting. I also love "Can't Stop the Feelings" when they all get involved in some beatboxing. These guys are also very funny, the "Butts Remix" is a classic by Home Free. A mashup of songs about, as you guessed, butts.
"Sam Winchester" - real name Tim Foust is a rare basso profundo - deepest of bass voices - and yes he has an incredible range of 5 octaves, he can easily sing tenor with Rob and Austin. Adam Chance their baritone has a pretty wide range too and covers the bass whenever Tim is taking the lead. It will never cease to amaze me how "just" 5 people are able to produce a sound of huge church pipe organ and let you constantly forget that there are no instruments backing them. You had to check some of their fun stuff. They can be very serious and emotional with their songs but.... they can be completely hilarious and silly like 5-year olds on a sugar rush too. "Butts Remix", "Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget" and "Full of Cheer" ( both originals written by Tim), "All About the Bass".... there are so many...
Here's a cheat sheet on the group: Adam Rupp, co-founder of HF and beatboxer. Tim Foust, bass. He has a five-octave range. Robb Lundquist (beard) Tenor Harmony. Austin Brown, Lead Tenor. Adam Chance, Baritone ( goes by Chance). Chance replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder) who left in 2016. I would recommend reacting to End Of The Road, this will showcase Rob. When A Man Loves A Woman, this will showcase Austin. Brothers in Arms features Tim and Chance. One Man Band and Take Me Home Country Roads is a group effort. Also, find Adam Rupp's drum solo live. Honestly, there isn't a bad song in their vast catalog. I'm a bit envious of your journey of discovering all these guys' amazing talent. Oh, and Tim just released a Doo Wop a capella album, Pieces of Me Vol. 1, in which he sings ALL the parts. You might want to save that for after Mayday.😉
Just found you today. New sub here. I also thank your Uncle for suggesting Home Free. You have found a rabbit hole that will amaze you with each reaction. They are funny, patriotic and have a great time together. this is not a job for them it is a love and passion. Here for all the Home Free you will give us!!!
Listen to their working for a living and Adam shines with his "harmonica " great job gents! Thank you for your reaction. Yes listen to more and their voices.
The bass singer Tim has a 5 octave range. And Chance has a 4 octave range. They all have leads in different songs. Rob...the guy with great beard and glasses does the lead in End of the Road by Boys to Men. And Austin the high lead does a great When a Man Loves a Women.
Glad yall are enjoying here's a list to check put MY CHURCH FOLS PRISON BLUES TAKE ME HOME COUNTRY ROADS LOVE TRAIN CANT STOP THIS FEELING a few to start enjoy
Adam Rupp (beatboxer) and his brother Chris Rupp which is not in the band anymore are the originators of Home Free since 2000. They went through a lot of different members till 2013 when the group was complete with Tim Foust (bass, aka Sam Winchester as you call him lol), Austin Brown (highTenor and lead on The man of Constant Sorrow), Rob Lundquist (tenor, guy with the beard and glasses). 2013 or 2014 they won the sing-off tv show. In 2016 or 2017 one of the founders (Chris Rupp) left and chose Adam Chance (baritone) to be his replacement. Austin Brown, Adam Chance, and Tim Foust have their own channels with solo music and Adam Rupp has some drum solos out on youtube.
I can recommend an interview Chris Rupp did with reactor QoFy last August. Chris is very candid in it explaining why he left Home Free and that he actually was not involved in the recruitment of Chance.
Of the present members, Adam Rupp (the beatboxer) is one of the founding members. Then came Rob (black bearded tenor), then bass Tim Foust, Austin Brown (redheaded tenor), and most recently (about 5 yrs) Chance (baritone).
So glad you found Home Free. They are amazing. For the shear beauty of their voices experience check out the hymn How Great Thou Art, filmed in the Austrian Alps. For Tim Foust's depth of bass check out Dire Straits Brothers in Arms. For Austin Brown's upper range ability check out Whena Man loves a Woman. Yes, please wait until you know them all and appreciate them for themselves before listening to Mayday which is one of my favorites.
I promise you they have so many fun songs, House Party is really great, Hillbilly Bone, Some Girls Do, Fishin in the Dark/ Boondocks. Never Gonna Give You Up, Working for a living, 9 to 5. They have a really huge sense of humor, you just happened to hit on a couple of really deep songs to start out with. But once you see their funny side you'll see just how well rounded they are. I strongly suggest any of the songs listed above to take you down their humorous side. You will love it all. Thanks for another great reaction!
Tim also writes songs so some of the songs they do are his and may have been released on an earlier solo album. Tim released a new solo do wop album that has two videos so far on his channel. Awesome 👏 his wife is a singer too.
Two great songs to check out are "Seven Bridges Road and "Helplessly Hoping. Helplessly hoping is a vocal masterpiece featuring a 5 part harmony with no beat boxing and Seven Bridges Road is an Eagles cover song which is simply amazing!!
I love Home Free's version of this beautiful song. They really brought out the emotion of it. Tim's lead is amazing with his deep bass. Also love Rob & Chance's solos plus the great harmonies. And Adam is tasteful in making the simple sound of pounding his chest & thigh. I believe we can change our course in life. We don't have to make the same mistakes as our parents. We can choose to rise above it.
Thanks for reacting to Home Free! Here are a few other great songs you might find interesting; "End of the Road" (Rob goes to church) "When a Man Loves a Woman" (Austin's best vocal showcase) "Hillbilly Bone" and "Folsum Prison Blues" (Country Songs with Bass deep enough to test your subwoofer) "Blue Ain't Your Color" (A cool almost Motown vibe) "The Butts Remix" and "All About The Bass" for funny but still good songs. "American Pie" (A wonderful 50th anniversary homage with Don McLean) "How Great Thou Art" (5 part harmony with no beat boxing) "Mayday" (Great song and it has a surprise once you get used to Tim's subwoofer vocals)
I can’t wait to watch you go down that ‘Home Free’ rabbit hole! You are going to be in for a treat! I love watching peoples journeys discovering them. They are AMAZING! Everyone of them brings awesomeness to the group! Have fun! Can’t wait to watch this! Butts Remix is great! Austin doing when a man loves a woman is a must see!
I’m so glad you chose this song to react to. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a reaction to it. It also gave you an opportunity to hear Chance since he didn’t have a lead part in Man of Constant Sorrow. He truly has one of the purest baritone voices out there. You can’t go wrong with any of their music, but I agree with what everyone has said about waiting on Mayday. You will be glad you did because it is truly something spectacular (and my personal favorite). I don’t know if you noticed, but Adam, the beatboxer was helping carry the background vocals along with the chest thumps and he has a beautiful voice as well. They are so addicting to listen to and each have their own moments to shine throughout their catalog.
Hi guys i´m a danish fry/new sub and i started laughing when you said Tim SUPERBASS Foust has a little range he has 5 almost 6 octaves , you need to check out some of their silly/fun songs like -- The Butts Remix or All About That Bass . Much love from Denmark
Glasses & beard is Rob Lundquist, the Bass is Tim Foust, the Beatbox ( vocal percussionist) Is the founder of the group Adam Rupp, longer wavy hair is Austin Brown, last is Adam Chance, he's a Baritone but he can fill in as bass when Tim is taking lead. You need to understand the role each member plays in the group to understand why "Mayday"is so mind blowing.
To get to know them try reacting to TH-cam episodes on the sing off where they won it. It shows their personalities and some of their rise to fame. Loving your reactions!!
I agree 👍 they need to react to the individual videos and not all of them at once. I don't like when reactors do that because it doesn't show the before and the judges reactions
There are so many Home Free songs from which to choose - it's such a deep rabbit hole! But for their ability to layer and blend flawlessly and impressively might I suggest Helplessly Hoping (Home Free cover of Crosby, Stills, Nash). Subbed for this reaction - nicely done! Thank you!
Another great reaction! Hillbilly bone is a great suggestion and I would add One Man band or today's release Amazed ...both really beautiful . The sea shanty medley, a play on the Tiktok craze earlier last year, gives a fun look at who they are too. Honestly I have listened to their entire catalog of music and can't find a bad one in there.
Adam Rupp (beatboxer) and his brother, Chris Rupp (he left around 2016 for a solo career) are the founders of Home Free. Adam also has a beautiful voice. Adam Chance, (goes by Chance) replaced Chris Rupp. Adam has videos of drum solos. Tim Foust (bass) has a five octave range. Rob Lundquist (glasses). Austin Brown (high tenor). You can hear Tim's range by watching "My Maria" with Austin Brown and/or "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" (solo). There are more than 200 Home Free videos (including studio, concert, quarantine and Story Time with Tim) If you watch "Tim Foust's Vibrations" 5-1-2016 (posted by Dana Giffin), I think you be impressed. Watch toward the end as Adam points in Tim's direction and then points to the floor. Adam also does the phantom harmonica in "Workin' for a Livin'" The list goes on-and-on. Enjoy!!
What a great reaction! To help get to know their names and also hear another amazing harmonica solo from the beatboxer Adam Rupp (without an harmonica) I would recommend "Working For A Living". It is also a happy and fun song. The high tenor Austin Brown and the bass Tim Foust can also replicate the sound of an harmonica.
Mayday is one of my favs. Adam does the harmonica in Folsom Prison Blues. You need to check out Brothers in Arms! And PATRIOTIC, check out Home Free with Lee Greenwood and the Singing Sargents of the Air Force band singing God Bless the USA!
Sea shanty medley, Working for a living, All about the bass and The Butts Remix. They have a lot of funny songs, so everyone doesn't make you look like you're coming from a funeral
A fun song (and also shows their names) is their cover of Working for a Living. They did it in the style of the movie Anchorman. Yes, I know others have said it but here is a quick breakdown of the guys: Bass singer (who you call Sam Winchester) is Tim Foust. Tim is originally from Texas, now lives outside Nashville, and has short hair in more recent videos. High Tenor (who sang lead on Nan of Constant Sorrow) is Austin Brown. He is originally from Georgia, now lives outside of Nashville. Tenor (guy with the beard and glasses) is Rob Lundquist. He is from Minnesota. Beatboxer is Adam Rupp. Adam and his brother Chris started the group in 2000. Adam is from Minnesota and sings tenor when he does occasionally sing. Baritone is Adam Chance. He is from Alabama, lives in the LA area of California (he is currently moving from one place to another) and goes by Chance to avoid confusion with Adam Rupp. Chance has been with the group since 2016 and sang bass in his previous group. Sone videos show Chris Rupp, Adam’s brother. He is usually wearing a cowboy hat in those videos. He is the one who has done videos tracing the history of the group on his channel. He has it put all the videos out yet but the ones he does have out tell you a lot about the early years leading up to them becoming the group they are now. Songs I will recommend to you: the Butts Medley (also called the Butts Remix), Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer, Helplessly Hoping (a song by Crosby, Stills & Nash from the 1970’s), End of the Road, Land of the Free (original song written by Tim), Dive Bar Saints (original song), and Remember This (another original song). They have recorded with Lee Greenwood (God Bless the USA) and Don McLean (American Pie) do I also highly recommend those videos. You will have a difficult time finding a bad song by them.
Great reaction! Subbed hoping for more Home Free. Try Broken Road for incredible harmonies and Helplessly Hoping……virtually anything they do is amazing. Do wait on Mayday until you know them better and understand their ranges (high tenor/tenor/baritone/bass, actually basso profundo, and best boxer=vocal percussionist.
Thanks guys for a great reaction. For just a little bit more info on Home Free...Tim Foust is from southeast Texas, oh and Tim has cut his hair during the pandemic, so you will know the difference...Austin Brown is from Georgia...Adam Chance.is from Alabama...Rob Lundquist is from Minnesota...Adam Rupp is from Minnesota as is his brother Chris Rupp who you will see in some of the songs with a cowboy hat or cap. Chris and Adam started the band in 2000. Y'all have lots of really great songs to react to. It is gonna be fun. Lots more to come. Thanks
Adam Rupp is the beatboxer. He’s won international completions, and is considered by many to be the GOAT of beatboxers. If you interested, TH-cam has a video of him doing a drum solo in one of their concerts. Mind blowing talent in one man!
I enjoy all of their music. Not only are they incredibly talented, they are also hilarious goofballs. Try getting "rick-rolled" with their cover of "Never Gonna Give You Up". It had me rolling on the floor laughing.
If you like Home Free, there's also groups like Voiceplay and Pentatonics that do amazing work just like Home Free, each with their own unique style and awesomeness
Home Free is so good. Love this one. Yeah, it’s sad too but so amazing. They do have some sad songs but they also have a lot of happy songs and goofy songs. You just haven’t gotten there yet. Tim Foust, (Sam Winchester) is a bass with a 5 octave range so he can sing super low and yet sing up in the tenor range. Rob Lundquist, (glasses), is a wonderful tenor. Austin’s Brown (ginger) is the high tenor. He sang the lead in Man of Constant Sorrow. Adam Chance (we call him Chance so as not to confuse him with the beatboxer Adam) is the baritone bass. He has a short beard and looks a little like Leonardo DiCaprio. Adam Rupp is the beatboxer and is amazing. Try Adam Rupp Drum Solo (2015). He’ll blow you away with his sounds. For some more sad songs…Brothers in Arms, Helplessly Hoping, What We Ain’t Got. Funny….Butts Medley, Full of Cheer, Country Fried Pop medley. Fun songs Meant to Be, Die a Happy Man. We’ll be there for the rabbit hole.
Yes you should definitely check out the "Butt's Remix" for some laughs as others have suggested but also check out "Country Fried Pop" (17 Artists, 15 Songs, 1 Amazing Mashup), "All About That Bass" (their way), and for a Home Free original "Champagne Taste (On a Beer Budget)".
Yeah, hold off on Mayday for at least 6 or 7 more songs...it has two huge surprises if you it now you'll not understand. You should do a funny one of theirs....The Butts Medly ...it's older now and has Chris in it, but it's just so damn funny
Loved this reaction! Honestly anything you react to from home free will be great! The documentary thing that you mentioned is here on TH-cam! Chris Rupp (the founder and member you will see in older videos) who happens to also be the beatboxer Adam Rupps brother. They formed this group together 22 years ago now I believe. It’s in his channel and he hosts it while bringing in other members of home free. Both Tim Foust (Bass) and Austin Brown (Tenor with long hair) do solo music stuff that is definitely worth checking out at some point! Although I would maybe wait to do tims stuff until after mayday… for while I guess you will see. Rob is the other tenor (with the beard) and finally you have Adam Chance (often referred to as Chance) who sings baritone. All amazing singers and I can’t wait to see what you react to next!
To see them all introduced, watch the live version of Dreamer at the Ryman with Texas Hill. Tim introduces everyone at the end of the song, and they all sing their range. Kind of.
Definitely do one HF's fun songs next: Workin' for a Living, Butts Remix, Hillbilly Bone are a few. A good upbeat, Sea Shanty Medley, Fishin' in the Dark/Boondocks Mashup. For individuals. Rob (the beard & glasses, tenor): End of the Road. Austin (red hair, high tenor): When A Man Loves A Woman. Chance (short dark hair & short beard, baritone): Cover Me Up. Tim (either long dark hair or short w/ silver streak, bass): Brothers in Arms.
One of their songs they all sing in (except for Adam) is Woman, amen /Female mash-up. Really good one and not sad at all 😊 I hope you get to that one at some point.
So many videos to check out, Ring of Fire, Folsom Prison Blues, Butts Medley, and All about that bass for some fun, Hill Billy Bone, End of the Road, Brothers in Arms, Sea Shanty Medley, How great thou art, One Man Band, Blue ain't your color, When a man loves a woman, So many more. Definately MayDay after you get to know them.
Having a lot of fun watching you learn about this group. To change it up for you, some fun songs. "Butts Remix", "Working for a living" Pay close attention to the video and it will have you laughing. If you've seen the movie "Anchorman" you'll recognise their hat tip to the movie. " Sea Shanty medley, their take on the tic toc spree. "Countrified Pop Medley" (this has one of the founders that has since left and gone solo, his brother the beatboxer Adam Rupp is the co-founder.) Depending on your personal tastes. There is a lot for everyone. I hope you have a good time.
Another great one is Country Fried Pop Medley. I think it’s 17 songs by 15 artists combined and shows off their different voices. And My Church is another one of my favorites.
Tim and Chance, both sing 5 octaves. You will find out that, there is no leader of the group. They all sing. Tim Fost, just released a song, by himself. Do Wop, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, if you would like to hear his range. He has broken speakers, in live shows, with his sub voice. There are about 4 a Capela groups, that are great. Home Free. Pentatonic, Voice Play, and Voctave. You will see a lot of songs, where they might use a member of one of the other groups singer in their group.
They all share the lead. Adam (the beatboxed) and his brother Chris (who left the group-good terms, to do other things) started the group. He chose Adam Chance to replace him. Rob (bearded guy) is tenor, Austin Brown is high tenor, and Tim Faust is bass. They don’t have a bad song,
I can recommend an interview Chris Rupp did with reactor QoFy last August. Chris is very candid in it explaining why he left Home Free and that he actually was not involved in the recruitment of Chance. The pertinent info is at the 33 minute mark of the interview.
Just to clarify our point to Mayday ... for you to really enjoy it fully... you need a clear understanding of their ranges as to who sings what. Get to know their "individual" strengths and how good they are with those strengths because Mayday is pretty special. 😉 I'm lovin' your reactions, guys! Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!
In all of H F songs they pay strong attention to the meaning of the lyrics so when they perform the song they truly inhabit the words, be it sad or comic, they always seem to make the song their own. After you get through some of their lighter weight song, you might want to react to "Brothers In Arms" released for Veteran's Day. Truly beautiful and impactful.
OK…Let’s do something AWESOME 💥‼️..”WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN”….. Austin Brown does the lead, (high tenor, who is actually classically trained in musical theater”)….Michael Bolton, eat your heart out😳😵💫🤪👍💥 Tim Foust, (the Bass, who is Way More‼️), had been after Austin to do this one, & Finally gave in. His voice is too perfect for this one. There is No diva in this group…..it’s done according to what voice the song calls for 🙃💥‼️ And, both Austin & Tim have their own channels…..and, their solos are PURE AWESOMENESS ‼️🥰‼️💥.
Rob isn't one of the founders of Home Free. Actually the beat boxer Adam Rupp and his brother Chris started this group. Tim. the bass singer has like 7 octaves. Some of the best singers around. :D
Chris Rupp was the one who started Home Free back in 2000. None of the original 5 are with Home Free anymore. However, Chris still does work with them on occasion, for instance he was the involved in the production of Butt's Medley along with his brother Adam and Layne Stein from Voiceplay. Butt's Medley had been an idea of his for awhile. Chris has a reaction video out on that. I hope Home Free stays together because what they accomplish together is absolutely amazing and on another level. There is no genre that they cannot master. They brilliant and fit well together in Home Free.
The beat boxer Adam Rupp started the group with his brother Chris who left the group 2016. Adam Chance also known as Chance took his place. He was second solo singer and singes bass when TIm is the lead. TIm, the first solo singer usually does the bass parts but with his falsetto I am told he has a 5 octave range. Austin, the guy with the hat in Constant Sorrow, sings only harmony in this song but is a high tenor and often sings lead. Rob, the guy with the beard, also sings tenor and the other guys says he has the best voice. Adam Rupp also sings and has a great voice. He sings only in some of their songs like HOw Great Thou Art and Helplessly Hoping.
You know you are listening to some amazing singers when oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh gives you goosebumps
Helplessly hoping is a good one to do too! 🥰😘😘🥰
Powerful song. Homefree did an AMAZING job 👏
Tim has a 5 octave range 🔥

Absolutely AND Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget….an original.

There isn't a single genre that don't cover. The most amazing group of guys I listen to.
If you want "less sad" songs, try their "Hillbilly Bone, "Fishin in the Dark/Boondocks", "Working for a Living" and the "Butts Medley".
Sea shanty medley, All about that bass, Folsom Prison Blues. So many to choose from
Also Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget, and for Christmas-Full of Cheer. They were written by Tim Foust, the deep base.
Don't forget about Can't Stop the Feeling and Love Train
Workin for a Livin has their names in the opening of the song. That will help you.

Their group and their crew of producing & arranging, filming, and others that have a hand in bringing it all together are top-notch. The best!
They're version of When A Man Loves A Woman is awesome !!
Enjoy!!
You might also have fun with Hillbilly Bone. For harmony try Brothers in Arms.
Yes, I know others have said it but here is a quick breakdown of the guys:
Bass singer (who you call Sam Winchester) is Tim Foust.
This is the 1st sing id ever heard from them and then I went down that rabbit hole. I love Home Free.
If you want something that's a little more on the fun side, check out Hillbilly Bone, or, Love Train. These guys are awesome. Great job guys.
and beer budget 😂😂😂😂
This song is amazing, thank you for this reaction 😊
Thanks
You need to watch Home Free's Ring of Fire. You will freak at how great it is!
They just never miss on a song
You guys are so much fun! Thank you for going on this Home Free journey. This HF fan will be subscribing to go on this journey with you!
Gotta check out their cover of Helplessly Hoping. World class harmonies
You fellows are in for a treat! Keep it up! Thanks!
Guys love your reactions. I've been at home for years. Not much they can't do I seriously recommend you watch Adam Rupp's rum solo
Yes you should definitely check out the "Butt's Remix" for some laughs as others have suggested but also check out "Country Fried Pop"
(17 Artists, 15 Songs, 1 Amazing Mashup), "All About That Bass" (their way), and for a Home Free original "Champagne Taste (On a Beer Budget)".
Boys2men cover of End of the Road is fantastic too!!
That “little bit of range” that Tim has is more than 5 octaves
To see them all introduced, watch the live version of Dreamer at the Ryman with Texas Hill. Tim introduces everyone at the end of the song, and they all sing their range. Kind of.
The beatboxer’s brother Chris Rupp actually started it, I don’t remember when he left the group. He does have his own channel and group.
Just wait the best is yet to come these guys are amazing I told you to enjoy the ride down the rabbit hole they only have about 160 videos lol
For ultimate harmonies try Helplessly Hoping
Other great ones: My Church (not sad!), Folsom Prison Blues, Brothers in Arms, Butts Medley, Hillbilly Bone (REALLY not sad).
I love this song by HF so much!!
Another great one is Country Fried Pop Medley. I think it’s 17 songs by 15 artists combined and shows off their different voices. And My Church is another one of my favorites.
Yes yes yes yes......BROTHERS IN ARMS...
Dire Straits and Club For Five !!!
The person who started the group is the one that provides all the sounds/percussions. Look up the history of this group. Its a awesome story.
Beatboxer and his brother started the band together 20 years ago.
There is No diva in this group…..it’s done according to what voice the song calls for 🙃💥‼️
And, both Austin & Tim have their own channels…..and, their solos are PURE AWESOMENESS ‼️🥰‼️💥.
Folsom Prison Blues, End of The Road, Friends in Low Places, Country Fried Pop and Hillbilly Bone.
They just dropped a new video ‘amazed by you’ today and the bass singer is featured on Peter Hollens new video that just dropped today Sunshine
The beatboxer, Adam, is the founder of Homefree.....he and his brother, Chris, who moved on to other things, founded this group
Rob (the tenor) and Austin (the high tenor) both went to college to study music study music. Rob was trained in classical music among other genres.
Tim Foust is bass/tenor, Adam Chance is Baritone/bass, Rob Lindquist is tenor, Austin Brown hi-tenor, Adam Rupp is tenor and beatboxer.
Adam Rupp is a beatbox beast ! #homefree # homefry
Check out How Great Thou Art.
That has all of them singing
New subscriber. I'm a 70+ Texan and you guys are great. Love your enthusiasm.
