I give the movie 10/10. The drama, allegory to nuclear bombs, and 1950s Japanese aesthetic really makes the film unique. The city destruction has great special effects for the time and foreboding music that is haunting. I also think the scenes of the aftermath of Godzilla's attack were very well done, showed the tragedy of those events.
This film is such a classic finally someone watched and reacted to the original Godzilla film' only a handful of reactors have watched this so far, most don't know what they are missing with this one. I hope you get to react to Godzilla Raids Again (1955) next' there are a lot of sequels and tie in films too!
But Godzilla is not the only threat that is out there' as there are other monsters that take place in the same universe as Godzilla with films such as Rodan (1956) & Mothra (1961) these are just two of the many tie in films and perhaps the two that matter most.
There are other ones that you might want to explore but you can also skip some or most of them if you want' I know someone wrote the list of all the Godzilla sequels but they didn't add any of the tie in films, I'll write down the names of the tie in films just in case you might want to include some or all!
But as I said above as long you got those main two I mentioned then you' re pretty much covered' but none the less here is the list of the tie in films and not all of them have giant monsters in them, some just have aliens in it instead or other strange creatures.
1.Rodan (1956)
2.The Mysterians (1957)
3.Varan (1958)
4.Battle In Outer Space (1959)
5.Mothra (1961)
6.Gorath (1962)
7.Matango (1963)
8.Atragon (1963)
9.Dogora The Space Monster (1964)
10.Frankenstien Conquers The World (1965)
11.War Of The Gargantuas (1966)
12.King Kong Escapes (1967)
13.Latitude Zero (1969)
14.Space Amoeba (1970)
15.War In Space (1977)
This is a much bigger universe out there then you realize' I hope we get to see more of Godzilla and others in future reactions but if not at least we got to see this amazing classic.
Welcome to the Godzilla movie franchise, excellent to start with the first one. It took heavy inspiration from destruction and injuries caused by atomic bombs. The Lucky Dragon fishermen for example, who were irradiated by an American nuclear test.
The greatest of all monster movies
Godzilla is my favorite film series of all time! ❤
nice, this was my first time watching any Godzila movie. Did not even know there are more.
In the future I suggest you to see the Godzilla sequels like Godzilla Raids Again, King Kong Vs Godzilla and Godzilla Vs The Thing.
This movie is a tragedy as far as Godzilla and Dr Serizawa are concerned. One is a creature scarred by our weapons and lashing out against the world and the other is a man mentally tortured by discovering the terrible effects of the oxygen destroyer.
Amazing movie great franchise overall highly recommend doing most of them which are prettt good some stinkers but mostly good
This was a great reaction very comprehensive of the movie. Godzilla is a poignant classic
This really is the most must see Godzilla movie. It's message even reigns true today as some countries continue to make threats of unleashing nuclear weapons. 😥
For me this is the saddest scene in the whole movie: 38:38
I loved you reaction to Godzilla 1954. Now time to dive into the 70 years of this beloved iconic Monster. I would recommend that you watch the different eras of Godzilla and see different Monsters that he will fight and work with. You would have a lot of fun with the rest of the movies.

It's the Reiwa Era, and consists of
-Shin Godzilla
-Godzilla Planet of the Monsters
-Godzilla City on the edge of battle
-Godzilla the planet eater
-Godzilla Minus One
There's also a few TV Shows such as
-Godzilla (Hanabarbara)
-Godzilla the series
-Godzilla Singular Point
It's the longest running film franchise in history, and it has a lot of good stuff
It is nuclear breath not fire BTW.
Godzilla DOES NOT eat people!
Hello there
You are making the same mistake so many people make when watching old movies. You are in your 2024 modern mindset. This movie was made in Japan, by Japan, with the Japanese mindset in 1954. 12 years after they lost a war and their country was destroyed by two atom bombs. You know and are aware of things today, that people back then had not even dreamt of or discovered. As best you can, when watching older films, try to forget what you know and put yourself in the time the movie was made. I always suggest watching any classic movie with someone that saw it when it first came out, because you guys miss so much due to your lack of knowledge and your abundance of knowledge.🙂😄
You say that, but she clearly understood the message of the film quite well as she details in the outro how it's clear the premise of the movie is harkoning to the deadly effects of atomic weapons.
Honestly, You should at least watch Godzilla movies until Gidorah The Three headed Monster, Since that movie marks a shift in Godzilla movies to be more family friendly, Almost an Avengers style movie
The order of movies if you plan to watch would be:
-Godzilla 1954 (The one you just watched)
-Godzilla Raids Again
-Rodan 1955
-Mothra 1961
-King Kong vs Godzilla
-Mothra vs Godzilla
-Gidorah The Three Headed Monster
React to Godzilla raids again 1955
