its also the type of music that he plays...its way more complex, he must have a grade 7 whereas the likes of Eric Clapton who doesn't even read music and specializes in 3 chord stuff is a platinum artist who couldn't play 2 minutes of Al di Meola's stuff if his life depended on it whereas if you asked Al to play the blues he'd do it better than Clapton for sure...its the type of music that the "people" like. You have to be a little bit more discerning to appreciate the likes of Al di Meola in my opinion...bit stoned 😇
Bass was not met to be played with a plectrum (except for Chris Squire, that is). I wonder how the mix off of the board sounded? Good to see this stuff being out there at the moment.
I was there. That bass player sounded great. Much better than these crappy phone recordings. Homer is not the best venue for electric music. It's a bit reverberant and muddy. But Al's lead guitar tone sounded great as well as the keyboards.
one of the most underrated guitar players of all time
40 years ago he was a star, then all went down....

Great guitar player, have his first 6 albums on vinyl. Too technically and boring last 25 years, alas.

It sounded real good, nothing fancy just enough for a small venue
Guess you never heard Anthony Jackson.

Why does bass players have to be bald? That's irritating.
