Altair's story in the first game is so amazing too because he is able to understand that Al Mualim is losing his mind and he is in the wrong even though his way is the only way that he knows. His mental strength is so amazing and the way he handles things evolves throughout the game too, he goes from a young, brash and cocky Anakin Skywalker type of character to a wise young man.
