I don't hear much about DJ's 2nd shot on #18. That is one of the great shots in US Open history. That hole is so, so difficult anytime. Under the pressure of the US Open he nailed his drive, and then flat out nuked that 6-iron to within a couple feet of the flagstick.
Jeff Hall stuttering and struggling what to say 16:00-21:00, shows they had no idea what they were doing, so glad DJ won, and now glad Shane lowry has a major
Great Job USGA, watching this re-cast and seeing Jeff Hall taking up all the space because he loves the smell of his farts too much and not showcasing the players.
If Johnson never touched the ball, how did he make it move? Did he sole his putter so hard that he shifted the Earth. And Hall's unwillingness to make a call and relay it is a true Profile in Cowardice.
At the time for sure. And no one could have known it then, but I think it made his 2019 Open Championship that much sweeter. So glad he got one after this.
Interesting conversation with Jeff Hall starting at 16:02. He pretty much just keeps repeating himself regardless of what the question is..seemed strange.
He's unable to and stays on message while commentators try to pull another answer or opinion. He gracefully avoids accusing DJ of disrupting the ball, but is also open about the fact that the ball moved as it was being addressed. He then repeats that DJ provided no reasonable outside circumstances that could have moved the ball, making it a process of elimination. There is nothing else to be got from that conversation, as the case was still active. The ball moved as it was being addressed. The officials' hands are forced.
@@DanielSong39 this is not what I recall any of the officials saying. Nor does DJ himself provide anything reasonable. "Outside agency" sounds like a catch-all term used to get away with a minor mishap when addressing the ball in this scenario. So apparently it's not that easy either.
@@TrueRahf Well he did not touch the ball or the ground with his putter, then he moved away from the ball, then the ball moved You tell me what happened I mean, you can claim he used ESP but I don't think that's a 1-stroke penalty
@@DanielSong39 this had become an issue at the 2010 and 2015 British Opens, they changed the rule after the 2010 Open when they had to suspend since wind at the time could cause a penalty even if you didn’t touch the ball, but that proved an insufficient change at both the 2015 British Open where the same exact issue came up and the 2016 US Open, prompting another rule change in 2019

Buck and Azinger's constant comments on the ball moving make this broadcast nearly unwatchable. If anyone knows even a minuscule amount about DJ is that he doesn't fucking care! He's playing as if the penalty is given. Move on!! This is yet another reason why Joe Buck and Fox shouldn't be within a par 8 of golf broadcasting.
Man..do these usga guys not golf? How many times a year do you replace your ball on the green and it slightly move due to it being on a slope, or grass that's out of place from an old ball mark for whatever reason. Absolute bs..you get greens this fast and there is a chance if it moving a bit. Absolutely zero intention.
USGA are clueless imo. Their re-write of the rules the last couple of yrs did nothing to change my opinion of them. I was a member at one time but i'd never send them another dime.
I work on the weekends and haven't kept up with the winners of the tour. During this time, I enjoy watching the final rounds of past tournaments. The thumbnails give away the winner.... that's all I'm saying. I wish they might would have the top 3-4 guys in the thumbnail instead of the winner hoisting the cup.
The referee getting camera time? What an a hat.....desperate to be involved....the players work their tails off to become great, the referees are jealous.

Dustin Johnson should win every tournament the way he hits it .

Still shameful that DJ was penalized.

Thank god that Dustin Johnson won because if he didn't win the players really would have lost their minds at Shinnecock hills
Who low key felt bad for Shane Lowry

Golf rules like the one DJ got penalized for are archaic and need to be removed from the game. It’s a gentleman’s game not brain surgery.
At least they've changed the rule since this, but they still got it wrong. Unless you're taking a stroke at the ball you're good imo

PAUL AZINGER WILL NEVER BE A GOOD SUBSTITUTE FOR JOHNNY MILLER
I got tired of Dan Hicks blowing smoke up Miller's butt about his final round at Oakmont. But Johnny didn't. I, for one, am glad Miller is history.

Same here. They seem to be more about promoting USGA than promoting golf.
Just glad the LIV golf is going........piss on the pga

I can’t believe he still has a job

I love the replays of past events, but can you please stop putting the winner in the thumbnails? Major spoiler and disappointing.

Looked to me like this POS pga was just waiting to see how far ahead Dustin would get, so they could call it on him and not make themselves look bad.
EDIT OUT ALL OF LOWRIE'S FOOTAGE SAVE 90 MINUTES OF YOUR LIFE OMG HES SLOW. SLOW PLAY SUCKS
Absolute botch job by the usga
the commentating is horrible.
Penalty should have been declared within 20 mins. They waited till the end to ensure the AMERICAN wins .
