- Welcome everyone! Thank you guys for the support on the last video! I decided to show you guys a more in-depth version of the song since there were some people who were interested in how the song was actually made.
This song is out now on all streaming platforms! distrokid.com/...
I wanted to keep the video on the shorter end so if there was anything I missed i'm more than happy to answer any other questions in the comments!
I started making these songs sometime last year and worked really hard on getting them to sounds just the way I wanted, but I was never really too sure if I was going to release them. You guys inspired me to finally put a bow on this DnB project and I want to thank you guys all so much for it. I'm going to be release a couple more snippets style videos of the rest of the songs through out the next month and then releasing them all as an EP on the 18th. I hope you guys like the other tunes as much as you liked this one! Thank you all again for your amazing support! 🎶✨ #drumandbass #liquiddnb #dnb
Thank you all so much for the support on this video it means the absolute world to me!!
Gonna be annoying and ask like where do you find these perfect sounds?
I'm not here to hide anything bro this isn't annoying at all! The drum break is from a drumkit that I found on r/drumkits on reddit, not sure which one specifically but I just remember searching for "DnB drum breaks" and downloading the one with the most upvotes. The drum samples I layered on top of the drum break are from a sample library by MOONBOY Called "Havok Production Suite." You can find very similar stuff in any other EDM/Electronic style drumkit you might find on splice, I just tried to find hard hitting samples that weren't to bright but had a lot of impact. I hope this helped man and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask!
They’re not perfect sounds they’re just sounds that he though sounded good. You can find similar sounds in sytrus or literally any other stock plugin in fl studio
@@estrogen_pills2022or you can make them yourself
@@pejwl_music yeah that too but for beginners using stock sounds is more reliable.
@@estrogen_pills2022 but one should not release such a music then
great song! its really cool how much the drum beat can change how energetic it feels even with such calming synth sounds lol.
Thank you so much bro! It is a pretty crazy realization I made myself too when I first started messing around with the genre!
Thanks for sharing some of your composition/arrangement techniques! Will be nice to add more to my arsenal as I dive into this genre!
I'm super happy to hear I was able to help you on this journey my friend! Thank you for tuning in!
Amazing!!!👍🔥
Thank you so much bro! :-)

Boom! This is awesome bud.
Thank you so much bro i really appreciate it!!
i like this but maybe swap out the snare for a tighter one. feel like it can add more to the vibe
Thank you for the suggestion bro! I do agree I wish I had initially picked something a bit tighter and not as "clappy"

EVERYTHING IS NEXUS?!??!!??!
Yeah bro! Other than I think one counter lead preset which was from serum
@@SleepyVibesOnly_ need to open my cracked nexus 4 and test it again xd
@biscuit666 dude it’s so good, I was sleeping on it too for YEARS because nexus 2 back in the day was never my favorite, but it’s got some crazy good sounds in there
so sick
Thank you so much bro!
very nice track :)
Thank you my friend! :)
amazing
Thank you so much my friend! I’m happy to hear you enjoyed :)
i love this! but where did you find the "small accent" sound that you used to create ambience? i really LOVE it but i don't know where i could find it tbh :(
All those little accent sounds were in Nexus 4 bro! I can't remember exactly which preset it was off the top of my head, but i'm pretty sure they were from the bigtone signature expansions, you can find a lot of similar stuff in the arps and pads section of nexus too!
That First Pad/Arp Sound took me back to my childhood, What exactly was that Sound you used for it? Because it sounded like it had a Lead sound behind the Pad.
Thank you so much bro! If I remember correctly the first pad/arp sound was from the lofi expansion in Nexus, the preset was called "Magnetic"
que brutal lo bueno que es
s
Thank you so much bro!
what do you use for ur synths/pads?
All the synth and pad layers on this song are from Nexus 4 bro!
its like a liquid dnb?
Yeah I would say it’s very similar Liquid style DnB!
What VSTs did you use for the Rhodes and all other sounds man? Tasty beat
Thank you bro I really appreciate it! All the sounds in this beat are from Nexus 4, the Rhodes preset specifically was from the Lo-fi preset bank and is called “Dynamic Rhodes.” One of my favorite Rhodes preset for sure!
How do you get samples of instruments like that?
Which ones do you mean bro?
@@SleepyVibesOnly_ that sounds
All the sounds for this song specifically came from Nexus 4 bro, mostly all of them from the Lofi 1 expansion and the bigtone signature 1, 2, 3 expansions :-)
@@SleepyVibesOnly_ huh???????????
what vsts did u use?
Everything in this song comes from Nexus bro, except for one little accent layer that I had made in serum
do you have the full song for this uploaded? i love it
I'm really happy to hear you enjoyed the track man, it means a lot! The full version of this song along with a couple others are actually going live tomorrow on all streaming platforms!
This song specifically is called "Break My Fall". It's the 3rd song on my DnB EP titled "Purple Heart."
You can pre save it today on Spotify using this link distrokid.com/hyperfollow/johnserra/purple-heart !
@@SleepyVibesOnly_ awesome, definitely presaving, thanks!
@@bahpu_ it means so much bro thank you for the support!
@@SleepyVibesOnly_ also, do you know what BPM this is?
@@BahpuAgain yes bro! Its at 160BPM
how did you do the arps? i can think of at least two but im not sure if either are good
All of the arps were layered in with the pad presets in Nexus bro, all of them came from bigtone signature 2 and 3 expansions, I hope that helps bro let me know if you need any more help
great video man!
you should say what vst and preset u use for get each sound
Thank you so much bro! If I remember correctly almost all the sounds except for one are from Nexus, the rhodes is the dynamic rhodes in the Lofi Expansion, and the pad/arp is also from the lofi expansion as well it's a preset called "magnetic", the rest of the sounds are all from the "bigtone signature" 2 & 3 expansions! The other sound was just some random little preset I made in serum but it's a very subtle layer
@@SleepyVibesOnly_ thanks buddy, i saw all your videos yesterday and listen a few songs on spotify, youre doing a really good job. keep going
@@matias9929 That means the world to me bro thank you so much I really appreciate the support!
heinz ketchup
Haven’t had it in a while but a classic sauce nonetheless 😳
Ye I don't really even like ketchup but like ya know@@SleepyVibesOnly_
hey how do you record your fl studio screen for these videos?
It can get a little complicated bro, if you're looking to just screen record then all you need to download is OBS/Streamlabs and then sync up the video in a video editing application with a rendered out mp3. If you're trying to record both video AND audio from fl studio you will need to download a product called asio link, you can find some really good tutorials on how to patch the program and hook it up to work seamlessly with FL Studio and OBS. I hope this helped my friend!
@@SleepyVibesOnly_ yes thanks so much :)
Those drums aint nostalgic
Very true bro, tried to get more of that modern DnB sound from the drums and let the melodic layers really give that more 90s/00s vibe
Ok 👍👍
this isnt a tutorial bro fakin titles to get more views
Yeah its a bit more of a breakdown but it’s helped a good group of people and that’s what i was looking for bro!
thanks for the imspiration, keep it up! !!
It's my pleasure bro thank you so much for listening!!
i kinda like the obs noise ,,, gives the sub some flavour
I gotta be honest bro I agree! I still haven’t been able to figure out how to fix it to this day and every tomeI hear it i’m like man I should try and see if I can print that out of the screen recording some how
@@SleepyVibesOnly_ could it be sample rate settings? im looking thru obs right now and when i have audio issues, usually its the sample rate, that or its the audio devices or monitoring device settings!!!
theres also a peak meter type setting*
Realistically I think it is an issue with the sample rate since the noise does sound like dithering but sadly even after matching my sample rate settings to what I have in FL Studio it still happens :/ i’ve kind of just learned to deal with it since it seems like the only time it really is audible is whenever I play any bass sound
@@SleepyVibesOnly_ ah 💔 i wish u luck in your endeavours!
Еще бы плагины и пресеты показывал ..) а так очень круто!!
Thank you my friend! Almost all the sounds in this song come from Nexus 4, the bigtone signature expansions!
old dnb definitely wasn't mixed like that
That is very true! I tried to write the song with an old school vibe but mixed with a more modern approach
Can you do a vid where you show the plugins for the different instruments? Do you use any stock instruments?
Ofcourse bro! For this song I used a ton of Nexus 4 and a little bit of Serum I believe, I very rarely use stock VSTs but a free vst I have been using a lot is Vital, it’s basically a free version of Serum that is incredibly power!
I've been using Vital as of latey, do you know any spots where i can find presets?
There are cool stock plugins like GMS, Morphine, Sakura if you wanna make track like this, and yeah dont forget flex haha
@@alizramusic all great options really! I’m gonna try to get jn the habit of using more lf FL’s stock plugins i’ve always had them work really well!
@@juanvlemmix right here on youtube is a good place bro! You’ll see a lot of producers advertising their preset banks by allowing you to download like 10-15 presets for free, if you search up free vital presets on google too you’ll find that someone has compiled all the free presets banks they found through out the forums all on one easy to download link, i think it’s something like 4000+ presets in that alone!
Those swells at the beginning are so beautiful, this type of beat always takes me on a journey ❤
That means so much to me bro i’m happy to hear you enjoyed the song!
what plugins did you use for the melody?
Basically all the melodic layers on this song came from Nexus 4 bro
This was like a bible for my latest video 🔥
Thank you bro! I’m glad it was helpful!
This is cool, well done dude 🔥
Thank you so much bro! I’m glad you liked it!
So simple yet soo fire 🤙🔥 sounds amazing
Thank you so so much bro I really appreciate it!
This is fire sorry for asking but what vst's do you use for your synts and bass?
It’s no problem at all bro thank you! The synths in this song are 90% from Nexus 4 with 1 small lead preset coming from serum, and then the bass is actually just a one shot sub I made awhile ago :-)
Who can tell me please which BPM is used here?🤔
If I remember correctly it is either 160 or 161bpm bro :-)
@@SleepyVibesOnly_ Thank you :)
It’s my pleasure bro!
How do you make/where do you get those Synth and ambient sounds in the beginning?
All those sounds in the intro are from Nexus 4 bro, I sadly didn’t make them :/ but they are all basically pad layers and some of them have subtle arps underneath them! You can find a lot of cool stuff like that in a lot of your own favorite plugins!
bro where did you get them soft Rhodes from?
It’s from Nexus 4 bro! It’s been awhile since I opened up the project and sadly since this was one of my first videos I didn’t think to include the actual preset name, but I am 99.9% positive it is the “dynamic rhodes” preset from the Lo-fi preset bank being played at a low velocity!
good song but jet set radio doesnt even have dnb music whats it doin on the thumbnail
That is true bro! I went back to listen to the OST and I guess in my memory it had a lot more DnB in it because of how sample heavy it was (and the occasional use of the amen break) but you're right! I would say it still has some DnB influences but I guess I had just remembered there being way more in the original soundtrack
@@SleepyVibesOnly_ U did nail that y2k aesthetic tho !!
Thank you bro!!
what is a good free vst to create accents for the ambience
I would suggest “LABS” by spitfire audio bro, has a ton of free libraries with some great weird synth libraries I like to use for accent layers, I would also suggest to try and add a bunch of reverb and delay to these accent layers to try and add even more ambience to the song!
0:22 which vst & preset are those accents from?
All of the sounds for this song all came from Nexus my friend! The accent sound is from the bigtone signature 3 expansion, and the preset is called albedo 0.75. I hope that helped bro!
What plugins are you using?
All the sounds on this song came from nexus bro, except for one very subtle lead that was a preset in Serum
the ambience synth is so cool~
Thank you so much bro! I’m really happy to hear you enjoyed it :-)
How did you made at 2 and 3?
Those layers are both presets in Nexus bro I sadly did not make them myself, I cannot remember off the top of my head what presets but I am positive they are both pad presets from the Bigtones Signature packs in Nexus
I wanted to make music like that
But I'm poor and I just use my cell phone for everything etc😐
Phones have been becoming a much better tool for music production! I was in a very similar situation when I first started so maybe I can give you a few pointers on some free tools that helped me along the way, REAPER is a free DAW that is my second favorite right behind FL Studio, has a ton of depth but also very easy to learn, and then for plugins there are a bunch of really good free plugins you can find all over the place but you can always sail the high seas for the premium plugins too (reddit is your best friend for this, I don’t suggest it but we gotta do what we gotta do sometimes)
I hope this helps my friend you can do it!
@@SleepyVibesOnly_ thank you so much!!!
I've been trying to do this since 2016 but I lost hope as time went by. After watching your video, I felt encouraged to try again 😺🌷!!
@@saymonista I am so happy to hear that! I can't wait to see what you come up with!
too slow, but this is good.
Thank you bro!
aka liquid DnB
More or less yes!
what did you use to make this? also can you make more tutorials like this
Thank you bro! I luckily do have a bunch more tutorials just like this where I actually have the preset names listed for all the plugins used in the song, since this was my first “tutorial” i didn’t think of adding in the preset names yet, for this song specifically it was basically all Nexus 4 and like 1 random serum preset. I think I may have listed out the presets in a previous comment here!
@SleepyVibesOnly_ alright bro I appreciate it 🙏
@squigglydinggly it’s my pleasure bro I hope the videos are helpful!
eh
Not feeling it bro??
Doesn't sound that nostalgic though. It sounds very modern to me, but that might just be because we're nostalgic for different points in time when we grew up
You do make a great point bro! For me it was the melody and sound selection that reminded me a lot of some of the video games I would play growing up, but I did try to put a modern twist on it with the drums and the way I mixed the track the song overall
@@SleepyVibesOnly_ which games? I'm curious
@@lauridsen1381 i feel like it was mainly a lot of racing games/snowboarding games from that ps1/n64 era, definitely a bit of a stretch too but the donkey kong country games also had some incredibly ambient music that I would say influenced my taste a ton
@@SleepyVibesOnly_ I see. Yeah I recall everyone going nuts once that one bramble level song became viral. You should look into old school sampling techniques. Most video games in the late 90s relied on primitive sampling techniques
@@lauridsen1381 very true bro! A lot of the atmosphere in older jungle all came from chopping pads from those “ambient pads” cd’s you’ll see people talking about, crazy how far we’ve come!

Thank you so much bro i'm glad it was helpful!
heater
thank you bro love your content!
OBS might have added the noise due to dithering - having the sample rate of your daw and obs matched might fix this if not already set the same.
That’s what I thought was the culprit too especially because of the type of noise it was making too, but after matching both sample rates I still have this issue to this day :/
Omgg this is incredible! What chords you used?
Thank you so much! i am not really sure if these are technically the correct names for the chords but I believe it was F minor with the 11 being played, G# major 7, C# major 7th, and D# Major 9th

How do you sound design that first pad to sound so ambient/vaporwave-y?? sounds crazy
I sadly didn't make that pad sound from scratch and i'm not the greatest when it comes to sound design 😔 but maybe I can point you in the right direction! I think if you were to search how to make ethereal pads you would find tutorials breaking down similar sounds to that one!

what plugin did u use for the bass?
The bass on this song is actually just a one shot of a sub I had found on reddit! All I did was set it to loop in Edison and lowpassed it with an EQ!
