As shown on the latest documentary, Colón ADN. Su verdadero origen, Diego was not Christopher Columbus' brother but a distant cousin. This was aired yesterday, October 12, 2024 on RTVE.
While I won't deny that the Spanish version is far stronger: considering the practice described of leaving a third of the remains behind when moving a body, and the agreement that the remains were interred in Santo Domingo at one time, is it not possible that portions currently reside both in Seville and in Santo Domingo? EDIT: As irrelevant and inconsequential as my opinion is, my own suggestions for the location of the remains would be (in order of my preference): 1. San Salvador, Bahamas 2. The site of La Navidad, Haiti 3. La Isabella, Dominican Republic 4. The site of his original burial in Valladolid, Spain 5. Seville, Spain
They say so in the video, only about 20% of the body remains were found in Spain, so the rest of at least some part are still in the DR, according to them. It would be in everyone's best interest to see the DNA study completed with a sample from Colon's Faro, so that this age old mistery could be solved, don't really understand the dominican exitation...
