世界遺産に登録されている「合掌造り集落」は大小100棟余りの合掌造りが数多く残り、また今でもそこで人々の生活が営まれている集落として知られています。
その他にも霊峰白山の麓が源泉地となる「平瀬温泉」等、伝統の知恵と技、雄大な自然が体感できる観光スポットが満載です。白川郷の一部区画は車両進入が制限されています。そのため、合掌造り集落に向かうには、せせらぎ公園駐車場から「であい橋」を渡る必要があります。このであい橋とは、庄川に掛かる長さ約107mの吊床版橋。床版はケーブルが通っており強靭ですが、厚さは20cmにも満たないので、河原から見上げると、その薄さに驚くはず。また、中央部の高さは10m以上あり、大勢で渡ると揺れるのでスリルがあります。茶色の欄干をはじめ、周辺環境に溶け込んで景観を邪魔しない点が評価され、土木学会デザイン賞2003の最優秀賞に選ばれています。

The "Gassho-zukuri Village", which is registered as a World Heritage Site, has more than 100 large and small gassho-zukuri buildings, and is known as a village where people still live there.

Hakusan. Some sections of Shirakawa-go are restricted to vehicles. Therefore, it is necessary to cross the "Deai Bridge" from the Seseragi Park parking lot to go to the gassho-zukuri village. This Deai Bridge is a suspension slab bridge with a length of about 107m over the Sho River. The floor slabs are strong with cables running through them, but they are less than 20cm thick, so if you look up from the riverside, you will be surprised at how thin they are. In addition, the height of the central part is more than 10m, and it is thrilling because it shakes when you cross it in large numbers. It won the 2003 Japan Society of Civil Engineers Design Award Grand Prize for its ability to blend in with the surrounding environment and not interfere with the scenery, including the brown handrails.

I've been up for 20 hrs and I have to be back up in 2 hrs, but I've been having SUCH insomnia restlessness lately. Somehow I had a feeling that flutes would help to soothe me, but this video was even better than I expected. The music and reason are perfectly gentle and balanced so there's no startling dynamic changes, and the background scenery is beautiful and relaxing as well, so soft and still and comforting.
