My eldest son and his wife used to own a home in this beautiful neighborhood. He took a job in DC, too far for this mom to visit. I enjoyed shopping at this Central Market and the nearby beautiful upscale fabric stores. He bought fabric and I made custom draperies for their home. We made some great memories here!

We went to Central Market once several years ago . They have wonderful things, but all I picked up was sticker shock. We're too deep into our Walmart season for all that. 🙃 If I drove my raggedy vehicle through River Oaks, I'd have a welcoming committee on my tail in no time, talking about "Son are you lost?" 🤣 Glad you enjoyed the trip down memory lane there. #stopwishingstartdoing

Funny enough,there's a Central Market store here in Thailand,although they incorporated a shopping mall into it,the grocery store is in the bottom floor and then there are levels of different merchandise,I am from the US but I find it funny that they share the same name!

Hello chef, this is a cook or chef's paradise. Interesting store. I love the variety. I like heirloom tomatoes too. My neighbor grows them in his garden. I had some last summer, but they didn't do to well this year. Driscoll strawberries and raspberries are the best brands of your berries. I saw the Meyer lemons. Sometimes you can't find the Meyer lemons. And you ask about the starfruit, I'm like you I don't like it. Thank you for the shop along. TYFS. Be blessed. 😊

Some people who are not able to get out or just haven’t gotten to see this store, got a peek into a world that’s unbelievable.!!! You opened them up to a whole new world. 🌎🙏🏽

Also, I forgot to add that you brought back memories of when we would take our daughters trick or treating in the DFW area. We always would take them to Beverly drive and surrounding streets in the Highland Park area which is the equivalent of the River Oaks area in Houston. OMG, they do it up!!! Regular size candy bars, all top of the line candy as you said and lots of it.!!! The whole atmosphere is one of festivities, parties, and large scale decor in their yards. Décor they spent big money to have built for that holiday. Everyone is cheery and inviting and many homeowners dress up themselves!!!! Our daughters loved it and so did my husband and I!!!!!! Amazing!!!!

I grow Habanero peppers. I dry them, then crush them into flake. My husband loves them this way because he loves the flavor but has more control of how hot he makes his dish. I can't handle real spicey so I also grow habanada peppers for myself. The flavor of Habaneros but none of the heat. I use them fresh, sautéed, & dried. :-)

I work at HEB here in Austin. That Central Market looks exactly like the Central Market in Austin. When I first went in there years ago, it reminded me of Whole Foods. I think this was a way to draw more people to the HEB brand with a "gormet" grocery store.
I love the meat department at Central Market. Everything looks so fresh.

Enjoyed seeing the store. Mom's neighborhood usually gives better and handfuls of candy. The richer neighborhoods give cheaper candy and only one since they get more foot traffic.

I came upon one of those scales Thursday in Walmart 😮. I was surprised
Hey Chef, I love Central Market sushi. I haven't been there for years but I enjoyed it because they had a lot of selections that were cooked I don't eat the raw only the cooked shrimp and crab meat and such. It was always nice and fresh. They've had those lobster tails on sale for years that used to be 4.99ea and they've only gone up a dollar to 5.99ea. I'm in the DFW area and while they were in nice neighborhoods they were very attainable some were right off the highway like the one in Plano... All that is not in my budget anymore. You know the pandemic changed everything. Now I sometimes receive stuff from Central Market from the food bank. But only the one in Plano. They have the packaged fruit and even sometimes those small watermelons. They had something that I really liked from there the mixed dried fruit. It was always a treat... But one day I'd like to get back over there and get some nice Sushi. Even though Kroger's has some nice Sushi also...😅

I use to vacation in Houston every year and my friend lived in this area, westheimer (spell check) but as you said it wasn't that developed at that time. The tour was nice I was most excited about produce and pasta because that's the bulk of my diet and i learned a there are a lot i haven't heard of. That prepared food section would be used like some of those meal kits for me. A lb of food can go a long way for a single lite eater. Speaking of eating did you replace your aunt's cookie you at with a muffin...lol.
