Secondly, Yong Jie literally raped him, and then forced Xing Si to accept his love. And the whole time, he had been stalking Xing Si. He surprise-attacked his friend on a lonely alley at night because he was jealous. Also he doesn't have friends, hates everyone including his parents, and caused Xing Si's dad to have a stroke.

This couple was the absolute WORST. I think it was highly irresponsible of the writers to add a rape scene to this storyline and then add no consequences for his actions....And it was indeed rape. Anytime you have to drug/intoxicate someone in order to get what you want sexually from them because you know they'd never consent to you while sober....RAPE. What's even worse is that there are real SA victims out there who went through this exact same situation, and no, they didn't wind up living happily ever after with their rapist. Factor in the stalking, narcissism and manipulation, and this character was a straight-up sociopath. I stopped watching all scenes with that character after he raped his stepbrother. Absolutely revolting. To all survivors of SA: I believe you. It wasn't your fault. You deserve peace and safety.

When you see their shared history so condensed, you actually see that YongJie wasn't that toxic. His behavior was sometime very immature and somewhat autistic (I don't mean to offend anyone, by that I just mean that in some moments he behaved almost emotionlessly). He was crazy with love for XingSi, almost obsessed after yearning for him all these years. But he did what he thought was best for XingSi - that's an explanation, not an excuse!. And on the other hand, you can see the attraction and affection that XingSi feels for his brother but refuses to give in because of the family bond. Because even when he's drunk, he reacts happily to his little brother's declaration of love. He is totally aware of the affection. The fact that he is horrified about their night together is not due to his lack of feelings but rather to his view of things about himself and the family constellation. So this constant condemnation of YongJie is a bit too simplistic, in my opinion. 😮
Okay autistic is not the word. Neither would I say Yong Jie behaved emotionlessly. In fact, there were very very very strong emotions of desire (call it love if you will) behind all of his actions. He was very driven and dedicated, which aren't present in apathetic individuals. You rather say he was possessive and obsessive if that's along the lines of what you're trying to say, but nonetheless autistic is not the word Also just to offer another pov, not to start a war or anything, but what Yong Jie did could be seen as both an explanation and an excuse. He's def proven that he cares a lot more for Xing Si than he does himself, so that is explanation enough, however, I genuinely believe there were so many other ways to go about trying to get Xing Si home and get his dad to accept his sexuality. The whole "redirection of anger" does he think he's a psychologist? and he did in fact r*pe him. Whether Yong Jie realises it or not, there was satisfaction he was getting from the decision he made to sleep with his brother, which is prolly why he didn't consider other options. In short, he wanted to sleep with him. This just happened to be a very convenient *excuse* Additionally, any emotions that someone expresses when they're drunk should not be taken as their true feelings, whether they may be or not. Life is about more than just emotions. All the views that Xing Si held about not wanting to ruin their familial bond were so valid and irl, outside dramaland, those are reasons enough to not pursue something with someone. Most people in this situation wouldn't get to have both the relationship and the family. They would have to choose and while in dramaland it's okay to sacrifice everything for love, not many people would actually do that in reality. I, for one, would not sacrifice family for love, or work for love, or friendship for love. Sometimes it might even be a matter such as not being in a relationship with someone no matter how much you love them because your beliefs and habits don't align so living together wouldn't work well. Or because of long distance. All-in-all relationships take more than just love. The other factors are heavily weighed in as well to make that decision. So when Yong Jie was confessing, the only thing Xing Si's happiness tells us is that Xing Si prolly harboured feelings for his brother too. That doesn't mean he should or even wants to date him though. So that shouldn't even be a factor considered when discussing whether Yong Jie is justified in his actions. It doesn't matter that Xing Si might've subconsciously wanted it. If he didn't consciously and consensually want it, then there's no debate that what Yong Jie did was wrong and there is need for condemnation.
@@nayahri Apparently we watched different shows. There is no reluctance, aversion, fear or disgust in Xingsi's expression and behavior after Yongjie's declaration of love. He smiles and even tries to kiss Yongjie. He can be heard moaning with pleasure afterwards. If he had felt raped, would he have been happy to wake up in Yongjie's arms the next morning? Why would he have felt guilty, thinking he had forcing himself on Yongjie? Xingsi was definitely not in the best condition that night, drunk as he was, and I understand why some people think it was wrong that sex took place. But for an outsider to say he was raped when he clearly didn't feel that way is incomprehensible to me.

His behavior was sometime very immature and somewhat autistic (I don't mean to offend anyone, by that I just mean that in some moments he behaved almost emotionlessly). He was crazy with love for XingSi, almost obsessed after yearning for him all these years.
But he did what he thought was best for XingSi - that's an explanation, not an excuse!.
And on the other hand, you can see the attraction and affection that XingSi feels for his brother but refuses to give in because of the family bond. Because even when he's drunk, he reacts happily to his little brother's declaration of love. He is totally aware of the affection. The fact that he is horrified about their night together is not due to his lack of feelings but rather to his view of things about himself and the family constellation.
So this constant condemnation of YongJie is a bit too simplistic, in my opinion. 😮
Okay autistic is not the word. Neither would I say Yong Jie behaved emotionlessly. In fact, there were very very very strong emotions of desire (call it love if you will) behind all of his actions. He was very driven and dedicated, which aren't present in apathetic individuals. You rather say he was possessive and obsessive if that's along the lines of what you're trying to say, but nonetheless autistic is not the word
Also just to offer another pov, not to start a war or anything, but what Yong Jie did could be seen as both an explanation and an excuse. He's def proven that he cares a lot more for Xing Si than he does himself, so that is explanation enough, however, I genuinely believe there were so many other ways to go about trying to get Xing Si home and get his dad to accept his sexuality. The whole "redirection of anger" does he think he's a psychologist? and he did in fact r*pe him. Whether Yong Jie realises it or not, there was satisfaction he was getting from the decision he made to sleep with his brother, which is prolly why he didn't consider other options. In short, he wanted to sleep with him. This just happened to be a very convenient *excuse*
Additionally, any emotions that someone expresses when they're drunk should not be taken as their true feelings, whether they may be or not. Life is about more than just emotions. All the views that Xing Si held about not wanting to ruin their familial bond were so valid and irl, outside dramaland, those are reasons enough to not pursue something with someone. Most people in this situation wouldn't get to have both the relationship and the family. They would have to choose and while in dramaland it's okay to sacrifice everything for love, not many people would actually do that in reality. I, for one, would not sacrifice family for love, or work for love, or friendship for love. Sometimes it might even be a matter such as not being in a relationship with someone no matter how much you love them because your beliefs and habits don't align so living together wouldn't work well. Or because of long distance. All-in-all relationships take more than just love. The other factors are heavily weighed in as well to make that decision. So when Yong Jie was confessing, the only thing Xing Si's happiness tells us is that Xing Si prolly harboured feelings for his brother too. That doesn't mean he should or even wants to date him though. So that shouldn't even be a factor considered when discussing whether Yong Jie is justified in his actions. It doesn't matter that Xing Si might've subconsciously wanted it. If he didn't consciously and consensually want it, then there's no debate that what Yong Jie did was wrong and there is need for condemnation.
He raped him. No way it can be justified. Rape is rape.

Apparently we watched different shows.
There is no reluctance, aversion, fear or disgust in Xingsi's expression and behavior after Yongjie's declaration of love. He smiles and even tries to kiss Yongjie. He can be heard moaning with pleasure afterwards.
If he had felt raped, would he have been happy to wake up in Yongjie's arms the next morning? Why would he have felt guilty, thinking he had forcing himself on Yongjie?
Xingsi was definitely not in the best condition that night, drunk as he was, and I understand why some people think it was wrong that sex took place. But for an outsider to say he was raped when he clearly didn't feel that way is incomprehensible to me.
