As a tenured senior software engineer and tech consultsnt, i think it boils down to 4 core components, mathematics, problem solving, specialization and learning
@@chrisseantalks Just some of the things I can think of off the top are I didn't know much about machine learning and what it took to have a job doing that. Hearing Melkey talk about just grinding leetcode only to get into FAANG because they don't expect entry level to really know anything was a bit of a surprise (not the leetcode part but the expectations). Your point about how some people get in only knowing leetcode but they can't hold down a job was a reality that I don't think many consider. It was just a good discussion on what some of us need to focus on but also some of the realities only people who've been in this space for years would know, not the cookie cutter stuff we've all heard before. That's just some things but I'm sure there are others I am missing. Anyway, keep up the good work Chris, and hope you ask other questions that shed more light from others with experience.

with all the layoff with coding, I"m leaning towards cyber security. There's seem to be a lot of hacking going on these days and is not going to ever stop. But the thing about cyber security is that you have to keep learning as technology is always changing. Gotta keep up with the hackers lol
There are NO positions for Juniors in machine learning. This field is hard and it is useless to hire beginners and keep them using work time for learning for 3+ years and paying them for learning not for building a product the the company can earn money from it.
