    Ok when he sat on the cardboard and just slid off I had to laugh a little. That was funny. Looks like they were having a great time. Was totally picturing myself getting road rash cuz I'd come off the sled across that asphalt lol.

    Can't wait to play in sand again. Right now it is all snow right now. You guys are hard core with even waxing it up before trying it!!!! We still have to go regular sledding. LOL!!! Cardboard is all we had to work with back in the day and also cans to kick 😂 UTTER FAILS 🤣 You know you are in TX with all those oil filelds. The last one you provided worked really well. They sped up as they hit the road!!! Looks like a lot of fun!!!

    That was a fun test! The wooden board definitely seemed like the best option. We used thick diaper boxes when going down the sand dunes at White Sands National Park and it worked pretty well after finding the right incline. Have a Happy and Healthy New Year guys!

    Slide off the board instead of down the hill on board haha, that gave me a good laugh! Drone looks awesome man! You should start doing some footage for videos using that bad boy! Overhead pan shots or something, I have always wanted one. Sandboard seems to work good, just not on pavement LOL! Hope you guys are all having a great week Jason!

    • @RoadtrippinwithTakacs
      @RoadtrippinwithTakacs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've been procrastinating on the drone. It seems like most places won't let you fly legally. It's also a bit of a nuisance to others on the trail in my opinion.

    Thanks for acknowledging you got permission to fly the drone. I see a lot of videos of parks and I’m always wondering if they got permission or if permission was even obtainable. I know the rules say no flying in state parks unless granted. Did you have to fill out any paperwork?

    • @MrSTravelQuest
      @MrSTravelQuest 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question on filling out paper work. I know I asked at various parks and it's a 90 day wait for an answer. I know at Monahans the staff is pretty cool and laid back.

    • @ConsidertheWonders
      @ConsidertheWonders 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrSTravelQuest I’m probably treading into controversial waters. But I see a lot of drone videos and I’m always scratching my head like “how did they get that shot in that park!?” Not that permission isn’t obtainable at some parks..I had heard too that it can take months.. this was one of the few videos where I noticed that it was stated (again thanks for the clarity 👍)

    • @MrSTravelQuest

      @@ConsidertheWonders People drone all over this park the last time we visited. I don’t mind droning and see why they have rules in place. I do wish the application we’re easier to obtain. Do you drone as well?

    • @RoadtrippinwithTakacs
      @RoadtrippinwithTakacs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I actually didn't have to fill out paperwork. I just called a week beforehand to get permission. When I got there, I double checked with the ranger. He showed me where I could fly the drone.

    Would the wax stick to the sand causing them to stick 🤔

    • @RoadtrippinwithTakacs
      @RoadtrippinwithTakacs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you put on the correct amount, it will make it a smoother ride. Some sand will stick, but it works out in the end. Use just a little bit. One quick pass of about 5 seconds worked best for us. If it's a new board, there is a break in period where you need to ride it a bunch of times until it glides smoothly.
      We've tested on a bunch of different sand types. I suggest lots of trial and error for what works best where ever you are going. 😀
