    There are plenty on here who spout about how much they earn by searching and pretty much stealing ideas but calling it inspiration. They interview others who profess to selling thousands but rarely cover the work that it literally takes to design, upload, write product info, mock ups ect. They ALL jump on to selling/promoting the same paid for tool, or courses. I realised a while ago they're just very good sales people. One guy who sells sticker has a good yt. He shares his shop and has solid info. But honest ones are Few and far between. That's why you are a refreshing, upfront bloke with brilliant info. I imagine they hate your honesty. So thanks. ;D

      Hi Dame, and thanks for your really interesting comment, I literally could write a book in a reply to you!
      You are bang on the money in what you say, and I KNOW what they are all up to behind the scenes.
      Yes, I am already being trashed in other "etsy guru" videos, and honestly I could not care less because I know what I am, and what I do is at the highest level possible.
      At the same time as being trashed though, they ALL copied my social media video, and now they are copying my "attitude" style as well in their thumbnails, but that's fine, originals create, copies imitate!
      Yea I know the sticker guy, he's OK, and its good he has transparency, the overwhelming majority of them will not show you anything data wise to back their videos up...and yes they are selling courses and want you on their email list, which in itself is fine, but the problem is they do not know what they are talking about, and that is what I have a problem with.
      Thanks for your kind words, I really appreciate knowing what you think, it helps me understand how my content, and indeed me, are perceived.

    Totally achievable. We are in month 3 on Etsy with our handmade soap company and we will have £1000 revenue this month. Steady listing and planning, making a good product, delivering good customer service and exceeding expectations. I’ve been doing e-commerce in the second hand market on eBay since 2002, I just adjusted and learned and listen to you

    I started a shop in August this year, sort of an experiment with POD. It’s okay but I learned so much from it. I’ve been working slowly to create a blueprint for a new store. I want to provide handmade items and my goal was to launch in January 2024. I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and they are always full of the best advice. I love this challenge and I’m going to make sure to focus and implement your advice in the new shop this January.

    Hi! Me again... and the emotional journey since watching this video yesterday...
    I already knew that I wanted to learn more about creating digital products for Etsy, and was delighted when Nik spoke about it in this video. Then, having been given the niche suggestion as well, off I went as excited as... (because I'd been struggling with niche-ing down before). So I started exploring the said niche, and then had a panic moment, realising that I know diddly-squat about the subject, in detail at any rate, just in layman's terms.
    Panic over, off I head to good ol' "Chatty" and after some sorting, I've (it has / we have!) come up with a list of 71 items that I could start creating for potential digital sales (some would also lend themselves to POD at a later date). And some of the suggestions can be turned into multiple variations so in fact, the 71 could turn into so many more products.
    Thanks, Nik for pointing me in the right direction😃
    Now then, off to do some work...

    I’m so glad u mention getting just 1-2 listings in a day because I’ve been listening to other videos (before finding u) and they say to do 50-100 listings a day and omg it took me a full day to get my first listing up - I just don’t have a process yet and im a bit of a perfectionist which im working on… but thank u for this reality check!

      Hi, yes please don't ever do this, the people that say to list 50 or 100 items in a day have no idea what they are talking about.
      I literally deal with clients who come to me every week with stores that have 500 or more items in and no sales having followed this bad advice.
      1 listing a day is the way.

    Hello. I just found your channel and your straightforward, no-click-bait, "contrapreneur" style is a breath of fresh air. I already have an ETSY store dedicated to tarot and astrology with only 21 products although I have not worked on it for a while. It's a digital download plus POD (tee shirts) with the digital items being digital journals, ebooks, etc. I like the idea of adding svgs and pngs to the inventory. Would you suggest building this store out (it's only had a handful of sales in the last year) or opening a new storefront? Again, thank you for your KISS advice.

    Hey there, first off thanks for your amazing no fluff content that gets straight to the heart of what us sellers want to know. I’ve learned so much from you. My question is, I am a jewelry seller and I have been given feedback before specifically on listing photographs of earrings being worn, that it is “off putting” to buyers because they may see it as unhygienic or have concerns that their item has been used and isn’t brand new (even though I always create a new pair for every sale). Because of this feedback I changed my listing photos to flatlays of my earrings. What are your thoughts? Thanks!

    • @etsyconsultant
      @etsyconsultant  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Olivia, and thanks for being here!
      Here is my answer to your question:
      I work with jewelry shops on Etsy that do well over $1million a year on the platform, and they all show real life earring shots on ears, and very very rarely get anyone saying this.
      However, if you want to add a layer of customer service, you can put in your product description that the customer will receive brand new earrings.
      I would personally not draw attention to it though, no need.

    I'm really enjoying your tutorials. I have one question regarding ship globally. Are you aware of Germany insisting all packaging used to send Etsy purchases, has to be either recycled or recyclable. Etsy refer you to the German authrities to register with your personal information to get a referrance number. I admit, because of data protection, and the hassle, this put me off shipping to German. Do you have any thoughts or advice regarding this? Also as I live in Spanish Territory, Correos is the postal service for everything and globally takes 10 days. They have no published postal tarrifs so adding on shipping is difficult. Courier companies are astronomically expensive and almost all insist on sisnging a yearly contract payable monthly or yearly regardless if you use then or not. Any advice greatly appreciated. Denis

      Just leave Germany out of your shipping, it is not worth the hassle for a lot of Etsy sellers.

    I’m so nervous about starting up.
    Recently retired 50 yr old.
    What’s your opinion on selling crafts iv made ( clay and resin art) and diy craft kits with a tutorial please,
    I have a gorgeous collection of silicone moulds,
    so the kit would include
    An item to decorate ie wood blank or shape/pumpkin/ bauble etc
    a set of 6 matching resin pieces ie angels/ mermaids/ butterfliesetc
    Paints
    Glitters
    Waxes and anything else that’s needed for project
    Video tutorial
    I’m thinking £29.00 for kit
    I could also just sell the castings as furniture appliqués or to artists and crafters plain or painted options.
    I’d love to hear your thoughts

    I am really glad I found you. I have been formulating strategies for my first Etsy shop. I do work 7 days per week already and wanted to replace that income. I am thinking to slow all this down so that I can build income from the shop in a realistic manor. When you say "make 10,000" are you referring to total sale amounts or profit? I am guessing I would make about 25% profit on average. I am looking to replace my job income, so this is an important distinction. I SO appreciate the realistic estimate - I needed to see this

    Hi Nick! I love your content. Please keep it coming. I have read through the questions and your answers. Your answer to someone doing POD clothing/apparel was that it is much harder to succeed in. Would you expound on that? Is it harder because of how much is needed in my store? What makes it harder and how can I be successful in that POD space. Thank you for all that you do.

    • @etsyconsultant
      @etsyconsultant  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Terry, yes it is because so many sellers are doing it AND so many sellers do not understand the necessity of differentiation to succeed.
      To succeed you have to be different, and offer something alternative to the masses.

    • @JohnFouke
      @JohnFouke ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m learning how right you are about differentiation. That’s something the other TH-camrs address only by saying you need to “niche down”. But even when you go from animals to pets to dogs to Dachshunds, you must have some damn good design skills to offer truly appealing Dachshund shirts. That’s something the gurus never tell you - and I’ve listened to literally hundreds of hours of their videos. For differentiation with POD clothing through Printify or Printful, you can’t stand out with price, you certainly can’t stand out with speed of delivery, you can’t stand out with quality of printing, and you can’t stand out in customer service. You can only be as good as 10,000 other POD stores. So in my thinking, you MUST be as good in all of these areas AND you must be extremely specific in your target customers while offering exceptional designs. This is a high bar to reach for most of us who start POD stores because in my opinion what most of us really want is a winning lottery ticket. Sooner or later we realize this takes very hard work mastering many skills and the financial reward is typically many months down the road. Just how I see things so far. I’m enjoying hearing your take on all that you’re covering. Thank you.

    Question...If I go with the Zodiac idea.... should I put up 1 listing which targets "zodiac" themed keyword(s) and then 12 others almost identical focusing keywords on the individual zodiac sign? And If so...would my 13 listings at that point count towards my 100-200 listings goal? Or because it all has the same design, would it count as just 1 listing towards my 100-200 goal? I hope that makes sense.

    Hiya Nik, Great videos I've spent the last few days watching loads of them and will continue to do so..Just not sure about the 3 Niches you have mentioned in this video as I cannot get excited or passionate about any of these and I thought it was very important to believe in what you are selling. They just don't float my boat lol. Would you suggest that I stick with something that I can relate too or is it just that for the purpose of proving a 10000 income is sustainable these three niches are where you've had the most success. Keep providing the great content as its brilliant especially when there are so many money grabbing Gurus out there that do talk a load of BS in order for you to buy into there sponsored sites. All the best Sean.

    • @etsyconsultant
      @etsyconsultant  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Sean, it all depends on your mindset. If you can work long term on a store you are not passionate about in terms of product and niche, but will sell, then you can do that. However most people need to feel something for the work they are doing, and relate to it, and if you can match that relatedness to a niche that also sells on Etsy, that is the secret!
      Thanks for your feedback as well, I read every single message and reply to every single message (although it kills me sometimes!)

I know it decreased the conversation rate because before I started Pinterest ads I had sales and after,,,, no no no :( zero and a barely have any views now.
