Great explanation, information and video. I am a former IBMer, I worked for IBM Global Services 1996-1998 supporting LSI Logic's Microsoft's NT 3.52 servers, and Microsoft's NT 4 servers and Lotus Notes servers at IBM's Storage Division in San Jose, California.
Had kubernetes pods. Ran them in root as applications required to access some hardware resources on the node. Everything works. Life’s happy. Was asked to make that work on OCP, thought k8s and OCP are not much different. Brought up the control plane of OCP. Went ahead and created pods and Boom… It wouldn’t work. Some security issues, as you told they take security very seriously I guess.
Checkout VMware's new offerings called VMware Tanzu (from their acquisition of Pivotal Software). I guess VMware and Redhat will be competing once again RedHat OpenShift Vs VMware Tanzu now in modern application environment :-) Basically both are offering Enterprise-grade k8s. All in one PaaS solution to build any apps to run on any cloud and managed from a single pane of glass!
You forgot to mention RHEL coreOS lightweight container optimized os that's part of Openshift. Also, things like cluster management, integrated and supported 3rd party tools which can be a pain in Do it yourself k8s every time when the admin needs to upgrade. Operator hub is a super powerful advantage as well
Hi Sai Vennam,What a great presentation..! Could you please let me know how did you shoot this video, with flip board tech? It would be helpful for me . Thank you.
Hello Rayudu...take a look at the Containerization Explained video I did here: th-cam.com/video/0qotVMX-J5s/w-d-xo.html Let me know if this helps. --Sai
Short and great explanation. Whole series is awesome. What about serverless cloud services Appengine or AWS lambda. is openshift same as those or different technologies??
Great talk but I don’t agree with the comment about having more flexibility with k8s. You can do what you like on OC. We run a cluster with 17k pods and 300 teams. Nobody is constrained.
so to resume Openshift is better solution , on the other hand kubernetes is time consuming and lacks scalibility ...damn after hearing things i was abouting to pass the certification for kubernetes
I definitely would buy any technological course from this guy. Congratulations Sai, you're a awesome teacher.
You really like this guy. Is he your friend? 😂 I see you everywhere 😂

IBM has done a great job with this cloud series. Keep up the good work. Thanks Sai Vennam 🙏
Thanks for watching and for the feedback! 💙
Wow, I loved this short explanation and especially this "transparent whiteboarding". It seems to be trending now! awesome
Thank you so much for visiting our channel Rafael and for your compliments.
One of the best explanations about K8s & Openshift differences I have seen so far, very well done Sai, thank you :)

Crisp and straight to the point explanation. liked it.
really Interesting comparative presentation of Openshift vs k8s
Man, writing against a screen in mirroring is awesome.
Great presentation
It would be great to have comparison on both offerings focus on what is available over IBM Cloud

Love your videos Sai and IBM ❤️ 🙏

This is great, thanks for the detailed information.
నమస్కారం సాయి వన్నెం గారు.

Hi Subodh! Firstly, thank you for your compliment! Here is a blog post we wrote that explains how we film the videos. ➞ ibm.co/2LTPMjo
This was very well delivered with measured Pro's & Con's. Thanks really useful.
AFAIK, k8s also supports auto scaling load balancers, whats more advantage using openshift ?
Great presentation !
I want to know how these writing whiteboard effects are achieved, it's so cool!
Did he write it in reverse?
Hey there! We shared some behind the scenes of our videos on the Community page, check it out here 👉 ibm.co/3kX4wRa 😉
Great explanations, many thanks for sharing
You are welcome Bob! We are happy to hear this!
interested on how to use containers instead of VMs , if any migration stories from VMS to containers is of my interest

I use openshift and when I create a project and deploy an app, it does not create any pipelines. Is there something that I am missing?
Hi ,
I am an Automation tester and beginner to Openshift .
I would like to know how can I use openshift in Automation testing framework.
Does he write backwards so that we see it properly or how does it works!!??
Hi, where can i find any doc on installing Openshift installation steps for testing in lab, it will be usefull for me, Thanks in advance
Look into CodeReady Containers, which allows you to run a minimal, preconfigured OpenShift 4 cluster for dev/test on your local machine.
Seems like K8 acts like IaaS and RedShift like a SaaS
Hi, Is OS PaaS or CaaS?
Hi Renan! OpenShift is PaaS.
so to resume Openshift is better solution , on the other hand kubernetes is time consuming and lacks scalibility ...damn after hearing things i was abouting to pass the certification for kubernetes
Great Stuff - sai - thanks
Thanks, Christopher! Appreciate the kind words. Best, Sai
Interesting...Thanks.
good
Почему видео на английском, без RU субтитров, а у меня появляется в выдаче с заголовком/названием на русском?
🎉🎉keep on

I'm not surprised that IBM cloud is pushing to Openshift...blahhhhhh
I see, got it thanks. Openshift is for lazy engineers ;)
You should make a course! Well-delivered and explained, thanks for the video.
