Cool video, cool station (20 stalls), & cool Prologue. Super fun to watch & terrific location. Always great to be close in at an anchor mall instead of in the back fourty. Thx for the video. I enjoyed watching.
I was driving to work this morning in my Eruption Green Mach-E and right behind me was a Grabber Blue Mach-E...we both then came up to a Rapid Red Mach-E. So much cooler than being in a Tesla LLOLOLLO
Hi, Liv. Hello. Welcome. 🙂 Thank you, Liv and Patrick for a great site visit! I can't wait to see more of these flagship, urban sites, but I agree that the site design needs to be better. Looking forward to your Honda Prologue review.
Great video! I love the flagship garage in SF. This one…. What’s the deal with those completely useless “canopies”? No sun protection, no rain protection.
Wasn't EA calling the one in Baker a flagship when they got the Tesla Megapacks? Did they tone that back after Tesla expanded the site adjacent to them, twice?
Flagship without a roof, no windshield washing, no 24/7 toilet/bathroom access, no kids area or dog area, rubbish/trash bins isn't much of a flagship to me.
I came here to say that. No 24/7 bathroom, trash, windshield wash, security is not a flagship. Dog and kid area not urgent in an urban environment. But the other amenities are no longer optional.
Does EA call it flagship location though? The news release on EA's site about its opening does not contain the word "flagship". The title is: "Electrify America Opens New 20 Charger Station in San Diego, California"
lol just charged there a few days ago. It's a nice station but I feel like 20 stalls is still not enough to future proof it and I also sucks that it doesn't have covering for shade. I'm sure it's gonna get hot there come summertime.
My first real job was at Hazard Brick & Block in Fashion Valley in 1978. I still have the shirt from that job! What a memory you two have brought back. Thanks as always.
I like the way its set up with the pull-troughs, Patrick. It is like a gas station. I like that better than the "parking lot" Charging stations. You just need to park a little more to the left.
What is the EA definition of "Flagship"? Has EA talked about it. They used the term for Baker and now SF and now SD. They are all "Flagship" locations but totally different. But really without a definition, EA can call all of their new Next Gen stations "flagship" locations.
Great location, but unfortunately, just like their title of "flagship location," basically says there's 2. One here and another in SF. They need to build more and more of these all over. These are making machines in heavy EV areas like this.
I just looked at the EA app. There are two chargers are down now. EA seems to not be able to keep new chargers running. Hopefully they can keep them on line. 2 down out of 20. 10% down.
14:27 I think it's important to keep in mind that Electrify America still provides at least twice as much power per stall as Tesla Superchargers, so in terms of power, this site would be the equivalent of a 40-stall Supercharger. I still agree that the quality of the site isn't the greatest, but all things being equal, that is actually a much larger, much more powerful site than the average Supercharger.
Eric I love when you put your 2 cents worth in because you think of things other people wouldn’t. I wish they would have tried the car on a supercharger and called it a blazer ev in the Tesla app. I read that it will charge
Good video. Not a great location, but absolutely need the density. With the EV population so high in CA there should be sites like this all over. But it really needs to be hosted with a 24/7 convenience store and quick access to food and other services. EA and and even Tesla still doesn't get it. I feel for the guy who said he couldn't charge at home. I certainly would not put up with DCFC public charging and no home charging. We have to see this change for multitenant units and getting people access to charging where they live. This is no suitable substitute. I would refuse to own an EV if I couldn't charge at home.
What is the range of the Ford mach E? I will be in San Diego in January. I may rent a Lucid because they get 400 mile range. I know it's going to be expensive. But I will be renting it for 5 days
I love that at least 2 of the first 14 comments here are from other EV TH-camrs I subscribe to 👍 I’ve been watching this station on the EA app because I figure it would be a good place to charge if I come down to San Diego from LA. It’s getting busier, yesterday there were 19/20 in use. But it should help making road trips to San Diego easier for a while. More stations like the SF flagship and Rove would definitely be nice though.
I think you guys are right. Electrify America's 20-stall station is both a big deal because it's a big CCS1 site, but it also looks minor league because there's a 48-stall Supercharger right next to it. Personally, I really enjoy these unique station visits since they're a nice changeup from the standard EA fare. If you find more stations that deserve attention, please share!
The design of the EA station in Baker California is still the best one. Easy pull through under a full canopy, like a typical gas station setup works the best in my opinion. Although this one is a big improvement over the typical EV setup .
Agree the layout with the charger next to the car is not a good solution, especially when the parking spots are narrow. In my opinion the charger should always be at the end of the spot which will of course be in front of your car (and behind for me when I back in).
I think you are being a bit hard on this location. To give Rove a 10 with I know trash cans and vacuums but I don’t think they have night security and what about 24hr restrooms, would you want to be in that area of Santa Ana at 2AM? The SF flagship has night security and secure lounges. This location I think has a lot more security than would be at that first Rove. I do agree that finding a restroom after 9pm may be quite a challenge and that’s not good. I hope they will fix the trash receptacle situation soon enough. Thanks for showing this site, do appreciate your videos and unbiased EV coverage. BTW. I thought EA announced that an upcoming flagship will be in Santa Barbara, maybe I can meet up with you guys there when it opens! 😊
Yes, I just watched your updated video on Rove, that’s awesome that they have 24 hour security and that the lounges are available. That would make me feel comfortable sending a family member there.

irt would be nice if EA had a mid county San Diego charging set up
Considering how many Teslas are on the road compared to how many CCS cars, 20 stalls is not bad. And considering this is an urban location, it is pretty comparable in size -- it's hard to do much more than that in a location like this.
I like it when you give tours of the newer charging stations that open. Keep up the great content.
Thanks Tony! Glad you enjoyed it! - Liv
With that green glow, you could be auditioning for the EV version of Wicked.
Perhaps ⚡ *Charging - The Musical!* ⚡😄 - Liv

That's so cool! Great colors!
20 stations - that rates a score of 10/10 for me.

When will the Prologue review be uploaded?.
Soon! We're editing it right now! - Liv
That's a MIRACLE that EA charger is working... SHAME VW DIESEL GATE

Honda Prolouge!!! OMG!!
Liv is editing the Prologue video right now!
I love the EA color and appearance. Twenty 350kw plugs is awesome.
I like your charging station reviews.
Suh-weeeeet! Hope we'll see more of these sites soon! They do need to make wider stalls to avoid bashing doors on poles or cars.

@@markfitzpatrick6692 Thank you. Yes, I have seen Prologue owners successfully using the Superchargers (I believe with the Blazer EV profile).
Fashion Valley Mall will have public restrooms but agreed they will be closed after the Mall closes.
Do you guys prefer EVgo or electrify America?

Agreed! Multifamily and more big stations with amenities. Like Rove! - Liv
OMG, twenty 350 kw stations. That's amazing. I wish I lived in California instead of North Carolina. My Ioniq6, Jiselle, would love those stations.
Aww ⚡ I hope to meet Jiselle one day! - Liv

It depends on which version. It can range from 250 miles to 320 miles.

Rove does have 24/7 security, bathrooms, and lounge. The Market isn't open 24/7 though.
I'll see if I can find out about a Santa Barbara flagship!

Meanwhile over 100 stalls going in for Tesla. Ccs is a joke in terms of scale.

Have you guys heard any about the Nissan aryia getting the same adapters like you have for the Tesla chargers
