- Train for your Commercial Driver's License in as little as four weeks, with little to no upfront costs through our tuition-assistance program.
Your education, books, hotel, and transportation costs are covered when you agree to drive for Swift for 26 months after receiving your license. Plus, you'll be paid while driving with a mentor. We also offer scholarships for military veterans.
The Swift Academy is recognized by the Commercial Vehicle Training Association.
Got my cdl yesterday through swift. Thank you swift for giving me a career and opportunity to support myself.
Welcome to the family Baker!
Baker gx Mayfield and how’s it going?
Did swift help you get your cdl permit?
I’m young but my dreams are to be a swift driver
@@MichaelAMyers1957 i was wondering the same thing
Started with Swift, 10 years later I'm still with Swift, as an Owner Operator. It takes time, those who are just getting started this life is rough, I'm not going to sugar coat it. 24/7 365 days a year.
My best advise, G.O.A.L., put some time in behind the wheel, if you don't know something ASK.
3 weeks ?! Wow. Well that explains why I have such great job security in investigating cmv accidents with a particular company leading the way 👏
Yeah. 3 weeks does seem a bit too brief in teaching students everything they need to know to be successful out in the real world.😅
It seems the course should be longer
I went thru swift for my CDL unfortunately they did not specify the real amount of time you have to go thru training. My recruiter told me 3 weeks training then your on the road working with your mentor right after. it's currently my 6th week and I'm barely gonna do the final testing. I didn't plan to be out of work for 6 weeks.
How it going since?
How are things now,
And he was never heard from again…
They just let me go bc my mentor instructed me to pull into a small area with trailer coupled and tried to leave by going over a weight scale and that didn't work. I took the full blame for some reason and now it's following me whenever I try to apply to a new truck company.
@@Radroach338Dang! This is nuts, what state where you in when you was getting trained ?
I've got several years driving otr but lost my cdl over medical condition with my back. Couldn't renew my physical and had to surrender my license. It's been almost 10 years ago and now I'm better. Bad thing is I gotta do the testing all over again. I wonder if Swift could rush me through their academy and get me back on the road?? I don't need to be taught how to drive a truck I just need to pass the test again. I got more driving experience than the instructors probably do lol. I just haven't drove in about 9 years. When I was driving I still ran a loose leaf log book. All I need is a refresher and how to use computer log. I don't even need to go out with a trainer although I'm sure they would require it again and that's fine. It sucks I gotta do it all over again though but at least it will be a peice of cake for me.
To clarify...i had several back surgeries and my medical card expired. I never renewed it because I didn't think I would drive again so I had to turn in my cdl. Now I'm much better and can pass physical exam but I don't have my license anymore . I need to get it back .
Hello! It'd be best to reach out to our recruiters to see what would be needed for you to get started with us for your specific situation. They can be reached at (888) 424-0950. They would love to talk to you!
The training application for owner ops is reporting an error. I hv days trying to apply and it shows same error. An error occurred while processing your submission.
My dream is to work in the United States. I have more than 10 years of experience as a truck driver.
🤔
Saludos desde Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 ,le s pregunto si tienen instructores bilingues(inglés y español)?
Swift doing school training in automatic transmission only ?
We are currently migrating all of our training towards automatic transmissions but there may be some manual training availability. Please contact our recruiters at (888) 424-0950 to learn more
@@Swift_Transportation all truckers should learn on a manual transmission truck. more control over the vehicle
paul shortall absolutely.... learning on a manual transmission makes for a lifelong alert driver, automatic creates an inattentive driver. Been the saying in basic automotive drivers education circles for decades. A manual car truck or big rig makes you think down the road not just to the 60 feet in front of the hood.
Is it true that auto transmission trucks have to be brought to a complete hault before engaging other modes? What if you're already descending a steep grade? And the friction brakes are already smoking...
Drove a manual for 8 years, I love my 12 speed auto, my fatigue is gone, back aches quit, I can drive longer, get better fuel mileage, yeah it took some getting use to, but in traffic I would not want a manual.
I will start my training this week any pointers? I’m excited and ready to learn
Pointers..... 🤔.... always leave your drivers door unlocked so you can jump out in a hurry
How'd it go, I start Monday.
@@Radroach338How'd it go
Not signing a 2 year contract, the most I’ll do is a year.
What about Mt and hill training

I also finished third in my class in alliance truck school in wythville Virginia
We appreciate your interest! Please give us a call at (855) 964-6346. We'd love to speak with you!
Who does the road testing for swift? Is it the state police?
TO ME 2 YEARS IS TOO LONG TO PAY THE LICENSE BACK..AND I AM A VETERAN
You can leave before the 2 years, you'll just have to pay the remaining tuition when you do
I think there’s a scholarship and it hopefully is 1 year. If it’s 2 then that’s a no for a lot of vets especially since I hear this academy is over priced.
Moro no Brasil, gostaria de trabalhar com vcs,sou motorista proficional carteira AE a mais de 20 anos estou atuando,no momento com carreta refrigerada
How long is the mentor portion of training?
Usally 30 days
Do you have to pay the upfront 6k for the academy?
26 months of repayment
@@ericolson8708that's a very very long contract. I hope when I apply nothing goes wrong and they let me complete my contract.
Hey swift my husband just did his application yesterday and he completed the 100 % on the 10 year job thing when he finished it just sent him to a blank page does that mean the application is completely over?
On the test do u have to the parrall parking or alley dock on the cdl test
Yes both I believe!
I'm in Los Angeles. South central Los Angeles to be exact. 1) question? Does swift people on parole? Please reply
Hii can i apply for a truck driver? Truck driver is my work here in Philippines.i want to experience other country.
That's a free training ?
After you graduate and you’re done with your mentor can you request to work local?
It depends on what's available in your area - our recruiters will have the most up-to-date information. Please give them a call at (888) 424-0950 for more information!
Looks promising!
I'll be there Monday. See ya then.
I just called swift today and just got my class recruiter waiting for a call back but do I have to pay anything for the training to get my cdl
Did you get your cdl
Do you need your permit first?
It's highly suggested that you have your CDL prior to starting, but we may have resources available to help depending on your location. Give us a call at (888) 424-0950 for more information!
What’s swift paying for solo otr?
They're not paying anything for doing over the road, I I did it for a year and it did not pay well facts 💯
@@d.j.ghetoswift1206 indeed job app says they were offering $1,700/week in my area. I wonder if they're trying to jip me.
Is the training paid?
Hello! We have tuition reimbursement and scholarship programs available so you can attend at no immediate out of pocket cost to you. We do not pay while at the academy, but do once on the truck with a mentor. Please give our recruiters a call at 888-539-2037 to learn more about what is available for your area.
Can a person not in Canada apply to swift for training?
Hi Wilfred! We do not take applicants from Canada for our Academies.
I want to drive but without mentor lmao
Exactly
Right.
Is it true swift is a lease only company?
No
So the training is 6k and after 12 months of driving for Swift you have paid it back through weekly withdraws from your check. And then you all put it back in each check after for the next year is that correct?
I have the same question. I'm not trying to go into debt without a job if this doesn't work out
@@dodgedeath1635 I ended up paying for it locally myself for 3.5k I have been driving a year now. At swift it is 9 grand now, and if you fail out for any reason you still owe it, don't do it. Borrow money somehow or get sponsored by your state for job training. Several companies offer tuition reimbursement anyway, they will give you a monthly amount until the full amount is paid off just for working for them
@@zachz699that's super shady bro. Falling out and not completing the contract is my biggest fear.
BECARFULL FOR NEW DRIVERS The school was Ok, the mentor was good, but after the graduation, they promise for inexperience driver at least 1000 per week, but if they complete 5 days of work and gets what, the dispatchers are sure the drivers get stock with no trailer, wrong directions, no answer the phone, anyway they do everything for doesn't give you the 5 days driving and the
inexperience
drivers get paid no more than 400 a week which means you have to sleep in the truck for 2 o 3 days with no paid, no decent conditions for less than 400. is been 2 weeks and it's been the same situation week after week. That's the way Swiff transportation makes money?
Dang.
This is why you must stipulate things in your contract, if they promise things to get you to pay for their academy and they don’t deliver on those promises then you’re at fault for not making them put that into writing.
Are students paid while on cdl training?
During training but not during classes
Do you have any program for international students .
Hi Mummad! In order to drive commercially in the United States, you need to hold a US-issued drivers license for at least 12 consecutive months to qualify to obtain a CDL A. Unfortunately, we do not offer relocation assistance at this time.
Wish I had the opportunity to join this firm. I'm one of the best in jamaica
Stay in Jamaica
300 years? They been training ppl longer then the first automobile was built lol sign me up!!
That's the cumulative experience of our Phoenix trainers

Do they train on manuals?

The lady says that they have three hundred years of trucking experience. How in the crap do you have three hundred years of experience in trucking?? Trucking has not been around 300 years!!😂😂
The cumulative experience between them is three hundred years.
Swift Transportation how is the cumulative experience add up to three hundred years?
@@rebeccabates8644 Well if you take 30 people who have been driving for 10 years... there is your math. Let's break it down further...20 people trucking for 15 years. Shall we keep going? Cumulative definition : Increased by successive additions. 10+10 = 20.
Well.. it's nice to see that SWIFT is responsible for training their own killers...
