I know right!?! Except I did most of my rail fanning here out in California so little less variety in what I saw come by on the (then) South Pacific sub near my house (now Union Pacific)
great video!! having railfanned the area, and then working for the CNW out of proviso..you nailed it!!! I loved watching the BRC bring in the transfer to proviso when i worked there. you could see the exhaust plume from the alco's for miles. Great job!
Yes! Lived for many years at 68th and Kenneth and would traverse the alley along that stretch frequently. Yeah, slow going but I always enjoyed being right alongside the BRC main. BTW, did you know that stretch was supposed to be the right-of-way of the CTA Orange Line if the line had been run all the way to Ford City?
Wow, lots of good Midway-area action on the BRC including its own power and foreign power. Man, those Alco Centuries could smoke even without a train in tow. And a BRC cow/calf at 30:30.
Wow, great video! This is like watching a model railroad club layout. :-)The last time I was in Chicagoland, I stayed up on Route 12 at the Best Western in Mount Prospect, IL. My room overlooked the CNW mainline and I stayed up all night watching the trains go by instead of prepping for my long workday ahead. What's funny is the clerk at the front desk warned me about the trains "making noise all night". I said don't worry I love trains. She laughed.
Fantastic video, thank you for sharing! It's nice to see so much history - I didn't really get into photo/video side of rail fanning until about 10 years ago, by then most of these consists were history, and the locations changed.

FMnut, this is a total classic video. I remember rail fanning in a lot of these areas you have. A lot of course has changed. Are you still in the area of Chicago? Im in Chicago Heights yeah there is some cool train action here. I do get out and about over by blue Island Junction & Dolton jct. Thanks for posting these videos def subscribe to your channel brother
I live around the Chicago land area. It's nice to see these locomotives operating. Can you do a timeline of the years? I have a hard time figuring out the years starting and ending.
Can someone list the locations of where these trains were filmed? I already know a few locations because I have actually been near them before in real life such as the BNSF Racetrack.

@@fmnut Used to live right next to Belt Rail Clearing yard and since they got rid of the Alco locomotives and went to gensets and EMD locomotives the air has definitely gotten better. Sometimes those Alco locomotive would have a good part of the neighborhood smoked up especially when it got cold . Nowadays nobody complains . But they are a good part of the neighborhood economics and train watchers always are going to see action.
Amazing variation in traction, roadnames and colors.
Sure there was more to see then.
Excellent video that keeps you watching.
man, this hit me right in the childhood

Great stuff! Love the sounds of the Alco Century series and the GE’s. The non-turbo EMD’s put out a pleasant sound too.
Lots of old railroads here! Great History lesson from years gone by! Made me fell 30years younger! Super Show!!
Superb video. Love the Alcos and the E units on the Burlington raceway. Surely some of them could have been rebuilt and returned to service.
What a great video!! Incredible variety.
Whoa! That stretch along the Kenton Line from 63rd to Marquette Ave used to be filled with grass?! It is a huge muddy and gravel-y mess nowadays.

Excellent fallen flag video. Excellent color from video that is up to 25 years old. Your source material must have been well cared for.
It was, but modern editing software helps.
Awesome 90's Trains

Killer video!!
Can anyone tell me why that locomotive was producing so much smoke at 14:00, and then it stopped?
The engineer cut back on the throttle as the train was cresting a grade. If you listen you can hear the reduction in rpm.
@@fmnut Makes sense. Thank you.
What's the location about 30:00 in with the Conrail train and the BRC switchers?
