I like the different colours you have used, not using green for leaves but other hues really gave each type of leaves a different feel. Another great tutorial, I really enjoyed it. And your not boring.......I really love your channel!

As a pretty newbie, I'm not sure if special cleaners are really necessary or just a clever buy-me-you-need-me strategy. Do you use brush soap or something like that? Nia I love this tutorial. It will be the first attempt on my new sketch book. Your comments about paint color and 2nd layer could be because of the paint you are using. I am no expert but am loving the professional grade Winsor & Newton I have in tubes. Sending you some Ko-fi funds to upgrade if possible. :)

I just checked my ko-fi and I couldn't thank you enough for your donation 😭 In terms of the 2nd layer I think it has more to do with paper though, because cellulose tend to soak in the pigment more. I usually use holbein with other brands as well, I'd have to say you're right WN is great along with Daniel Smith :D They just have a certain clarity to them that I like. I think so far they're my favourite. I'll try to experiment with them more when I get the chance, and your donation definitely helps ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you so soooo muchhh!
The Cotman level from WN is great, but the professional level paints are even better. You made me feel so lucky. Your WN set is the little one I bought for my travel sketch/paint kit.
@@lorettafritz6992 I have the Cotman travel set, but I have a couple of WN tubes that I turn into 1/2 pans and some other 1/2 pans that my friend mailed to me from US :D:D I think when its used straight from the tube, you end up using more pigment so the colours are suppeeerrr bright, but I don't want to use it up too quickly since my 5 ml tube cost around $20 SGD (I bought it when I was traveling to singapore) - I think they were one of the more expensive colours, since different colours had different prices. I don't think I've seen the WN pans like the cotman set where I live sadly :/
@@Nianiani it was recommended to me to squeeze a bit of the color onto the palette and let it dry completely before using. That way you don't waste paint when it is wet. I filled my color wells up to 75% and waited two full days for them to dry. All my colors are ready to go whenever I am.
@@Nianiani I am not sure what you mean by half pans. Sorry if my suggestion is an obvious one. I am very new to the world of watercolor. But I am absorbing info like paint is absorbed by paper! :)

I always paint and do trials before filming. So I guess from a lot of doodlin. Pinterest is always great for ideas as well. Beautiful photos always help 😊

Nianiani Hi Nia. Thank you for your reply. What I struggle with is how to add different values to for example, a leaf, if part of it is in the shade and the other is in the sun. How to add details that blend well and not bloom up and with making compositions/ arrangement look right on paper. I hope this makes sense. I always paint and do trials before filming. So I guess from a lot of doodlin. Pinterest is always great for ideas as well. Beautiful photos always help 😊

Nianiani Hi Nia. Thank you for your reply. What I struggle with is how to add different values to for example, a leaf, if part of it is in the shade and the other is in the sun. How to add details that blend well and not bloom up and with making compositions/ arrangement look right on paper. I hope this makes sense. How do you plan your compositions and keep shading and layering in mind before you start? Thank you very much! Love your tutorials and classes on Skillshare.

Thank you for the suggestion, I'll keep that in the list :)) It is quite a confusing thing.. I wouldn't say that I'm an expert myself but I'll try to figure something out.
I do have patreon but I don't really use it, in terms of donations, I accept ko-fi instead, with one off donations ko-fi.com/nianiani. I don't think I would have time to offer monthly extras for the time being with Patreon, and I just feel bad if people give a monthly subscription without anything in return 😅
