Getting one of these for my 65l. Boilovers will be a thing of the past from now on. Dont see the need for bigger malt pipe though as i don't really need more than 50 litres. Great video 🙂
I just received the 35L version and the top is not round, which causes two problems. 1) the top of the malt pipe (standard size) snags on the top of the extender, but it can be pushed past the obstruction and 2) the lid does not fit. If the extender is bashed into shape I am sure that both of those issues would be solved. The item was received in an undamaged box, so I think that the item being out of shape is a quality control issue. The bottom fits the Brewzilla with no issue. That would leave one other minor issue, where the top of the malt pipe snags on the bottom of the extender instead of resting on the halo ring. Consequently, the malt pipe sits about 1cm higher, which will increase the dead space of the system by a small amount. My intended use of the extender is boil over avoidance, so raising the halo ring would not be appropriate.
@@DavidHeathHomebrew Does your malt pipe rest on the halo ring when you have the boil extender fitted? When you lift the malt pip (2:44), it's above the halo ring and roughly where my malt pipe sits when the boil extender is fitted.
Another great review video David. I have both the malt pipe and the boil extension for my 65L but I am interested to know if you know how we could plot this in to Brewfather?
Given how bad recirculation can get in my brewzilla when doing higher gravity beers I'm not sure that a taller malt pipe makes a lot of sense... How rough does one have to mill or how much rice hulls would one need to put in to get usable recirculation in that?
It does sound like you are milling too finely. You will need to experiment with gap size with the grain you use as this does vary. You should not need rice hulls except if you have large amounts of wheat or rye. Do note that the new malt pipe does not use an overflow pipe. I hope this helps.
Hello David, I have been waiting to see the Extended Malt Pipe for the 35L in the states. I can buy the boiler extender, however no one is selling the Extended Malt Pipe. Do you have any idea when they will appear on sale in the states? Or do you know where I can buy one and have it shipped to the states?
@@DavidHeathHomebrew Hello again David, thank you for the quick response, however I have been in communication with More Beer for the past few months and they have no idea. If you have any further suggestions I would love to hear them. Take care!
I have a brewzilla 65litre and 10kg grain bill is probably the Max I would go with it, saying that though with the extender, I still think a 25 kg grain bill would significantly decrease the brewhouse efficiency. But I'd be happy to give it a go. Great video David
@@loekessers The G30 heating element is now as powerful as the newer Ultra low watt density heaters found in the G40/70 nor the Brewzillas but one expansion would probably work I guess, had it fit of course.
I'm not sure how to use the extension ring. I lf I have the basket in the kettle and then add the ring, the basket gets blocker and I can't lift it out. Furthermore if I want to have a pre-book volume of over 35 liters, the mash basket will rest on top of the kettle ROM during sparging, how am I supposed to get more pre boil volume?
Hey David!! Thanks for meeting you at the Beer festival at Marks place! Im sad we didnt have more time to talk, but the sale Was good for me tho ;-) I wanted to ask you, if you know when kegland Will make a bigger malt pibe for the B65 gen 4 ? So I guess they Will make a gen 4 malt pibe for the extentions? But when? 😀 Best regards Niklas - Vemb Håndbryg ❤️
Hi! Yes it was very busy. This already exists and there are ways to increase the volume too. I covered these products in this video:- th-cam.com/video/cT1jMkifqK8/w-d-xo.html
@@DavidHeathHomebrew i think you misunderstand My quiestion ;-) What im saying is, the bigger malt pipe available is the same as gen 3 model. Perhaps if you dont get My quistion, we could try over a Phone call, maight be more easy to understand so to speak :-)
Does anyone know if the 35L extension will fit the GF G30 ? . Apparently the GF copper alembic dome fits the Brewzilla gen4 35L , so they are obviously the same diameter . Would be an ideal addition to the G30 if it will .
Great video. Just added one of these to my basket 😂 I can't find the extended malt pipe in the UK yet so how would I adjust my brewfather brewzilla profile for the extender?
Thanks Stephen. You can simply add a higher volume figure into Brewfather and that will cover it. An extra 12L per extention for the 35L and 24L for the 65L.
Hello and congratulations for your channel, very interesting, I missed one thing, could you tell me the exact diameter of the 65 liter brewzilla extension? I thank you in advance
@@DavidHeathHomebrew thanks. I'm pretty tempted to wait then. I don't think any other system I've found will do batches as small as 5l, and that's a big selling point of the Gen 4 for me.
The idea of a extended maltpipe is nice. I still think it is wasted potential to not use the new gen 4 design with the holes on the lower level of the maltpipe.
What is the diameter of the 65L malt pipes? Body and the rim if somebody would be so kind as to measure. I’m trying to find out if it would fit another vessel I have.
Very nicely done video! So much great information and no waffle. These look really great upgrades.

great video! Just a quick question. How tippy is the 35L with the extended malt pipe when raised to the higher level?
Thank you. I have not noticed any instability even with two added personally.

Hi John, I suggest that you speak with who supplied it and you get a replacement. No point using something that is not going to work 🍻🍻

You can move the halo ring onto the extender.
My Brewzilla 65L. arrived also not round. The lid fits but you gota kinda trick it on a little.
Once you have it in place it will then be easy after that.
Fantastic idea and great job on review

Is it just me, or am I missing something …. The recirculation arm would need an extension from the camlock as well to compensate for the added height?
It depends on how many you add. If its one then its fine. If two then there is an extension piece you can use.

Hi Rex, I would suggest you go straight to the main importer in the US, which is Morebeer. They should be able to give you an ETA if you email them.

I wonder if the heating element claim is for the 110volt models for those of us in North America
Hmm I do think so Kevin, just 220-240v. I should think More beer could advise you.
I just ordered my extension but I have one question: How do i adjust my recipes in Brewfather?
Hi Scott, You can add the extra extension amount to the maximum volume.
Interesting. Do you know if there is something similar for de Grainfather G30?
Sadly not. I did try to see if these would fit GF systems but no.

@@DavidHeathHomebrew but that way I would have 14 liters of dead space in the bottom, am I right? The basket rim would then rest on the extension ring
You will have dead space yes. There is an extended grain basket, as mentioned in the video, that will allow you to add more malt if needed.

Sad but true.
Grainfather will not release one for the g30 - 600 min boil would be needed. Lol
Yeah, not the strongest of heating compared to more modern systems.
