- A clash of titans, interesting to watch two physically strong players going head to head. These players would eventually end up meeting many times later as well, but I think this is one of the games in which Zlatan have Maldini the biggest fight. Of course, Maldini won many duels, but still could not stop Zlatan completely from causing danger.

He used to tackle just as much as most modern CB's. He was no where near as good as Baresi as a CB. As a LB though he is one of the best of all time. If u watch R9 vs maldini, u will see R9 easily gets past him on multiple occasions. Now imagine what messi would do to maldini.

On the ground, if the pass is not ideal, Maldini will sweep it away. Maldini is smart that when Zlatan already had the ball in possession he backs off, else he could easily get turned.
The one-on-one battle; Maldini just keeps the position and only reacts to Zlatan's movements. This is smart, since Zlatan tends to make a fool of impatient defenders chucking their legs at the ball or body at him, thinking they are quicker/stronger than him. I would also give Maldini the edge here since he keeps Zlatan at bay until help arrive, Zlatan makes a mistake, or the defense get in position to keep Zlatan's option limited.
