The history of China that full with tears and hardshipand touches me so much, perhaps it is because of my biological identification eventhough not by my nationality as oversea born Chinese.
I am lucky to have an opportunity to learn the culture and the language in Malaysia, the country I dearly love as well.
Thank you Malaysia for raising me. Thank you China, my forefather country for allowing me to seek comfort at times.

@@bogieman8 it’s not hindsight it’s common sense, if your policies have contributed to the starvation of your people and you don’t want to reverse those policies. Then you should buy food or ask for donations of food. He didn’t do this, he did nothing as the people of China suffered.
Also China was under no threat of invasion from America in 1958, and if the government thought otherwise that’s due to their stupidity.
I’m criticising the man who was responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of people due to his own incompetence and delusions. Why are you defending him?

Without Mao the best guess might be to look ar large regions with similar terrible initial conditions to China that took a democratic path - India or Indonesia, both still in enormous poverty today. Look up life expectancy data from 1950 to 1970, and multiply that through the large population. Mao brought live expectancy from 45 to 70 over his career, literacy from 10% to 80%. I sympathize with you as I used to have similar notion but after a lot of work realized I was completely brainwashed within Australia. Upon a lot of research it turns out that Mao did exceedingly more for the people of China than he caused problems and without Mao and their liberation of China from capitalists in the early 1950s, the whole county of China would have followed a path similar to India or Indonesia which both had a similar (even slightly better) initial conditions. Now China has eliminated poverty and has far better health care, higher literacy, economic mobility and business than India or Indonesia and is even catching up to the West which it was exceedingly behind in 1950s when Britain was still bribing and calling the shots over there.

As as well as you was lead to believe all the lies, but was deeply surprised by how much the early heroes of China accomplished. Mao was indeed a flawed man, just as anyone else, however modern China would not have been possible without him. I guess the truth was in front of our face the whole time had we just thought to ask a Chinese person their thoughts.

In other words, when the availability of resource is limited and the means to obtain it is also limited, then it could work. In a place where resource is plentiful and can be obtain easily, relatively speaking, then its a hassle.
Socialism, on the other hand, is not communism. Socialism does have circulation of money.

They argue this because of the massive amount of industrialization and agricultural organization brought about by Mao, but also retain that he was mistaken and idealistic in his ventures like the cultural revolution. Looking into Chinese history, you understand the economic and industrial foundation that Mao built, as well as his continuous role as a revolutionary figure, you can understand why he is still revered.
