It is said that you can tell a Bai girl’s ingenuity from her carved plums! Use a knife to carve patterns onto a plum and squeeze the nucleus out. Slightly press the plum meat into the shape of a chrysanthemum to marinade with granulated sugar for at least a month. My favorite way to enjoy carved plums is to serve it alongside streaky pork. The sour yet fragrant flavor of carved plums combined with the taste of pork makes the meat melt in your mouth and taste fat but not greasy.

@@brunobucciarati834 The jars are glass, correct, but each jar has a lip-seal around the inside of the lid made of plastic, i literally own identical jars. The amount of plastic is not large, but the jars are sealed with plastic, hence 'plastic sealing' jars.

I watch both Li Zi Qi and Dan xi's vids, as these two really inspires.
We don't have plums in our area here in the Philippines, I tried how they preserved the plums but with the use of rattan fruits (the closest alternative I can think of because of the sour taste and they are really great when preserved). Rattan fruits preserved in salt and in vinegar with sugar. The one I did in pure salt resulted in wine-like liquid, it did taste good and I use it for cooking. The one in sugar and vinegar are for sweet treats.
Good for you--very interesting. BTW, just in case you don't know: this uses unripe plums.

@@uekiguy5886 actually, the fruit in this video is not unripe plum, it is called ume fruit, it is very sour and has an unique fragrance. this fruit is very popular in China and Japan for making ume spirit or pickled form

It looks like a lot, but if you spent 30 seconds on one fruit you can do 100+ in an hour ... But she's more faster than that and she has help. And also doing this is very therapeutic and meditative, which is an integral and reputable part of the Chinese way of life.

You remind me of my grandmother who lived on a farm in east Texas USA. She would harvest peaches, blackberries, melons, squash and greens from her gardens & fields she preserved and pickled them what ever she did not sell for her pantry for times when they were out of season. You are a great cook and so was she!

The plum dessert or appetizer you made reminds of what we call "champoy". They are prepared in different ways. Some with seeds, some no seeds, some are sweet and sour, some just sweet, some salty and sweet, some salty like the red ones we call "kiamoy". Love them.
