Looking for snakes is what I do as a hobby, been doing it for a few decades now. I've never found a pair of snake boots that are 100% comfortable and 100% waterproof. Tried different brands, but always land on Rocky's. Personal preference. It also depends on where we are at the time and how sketchy the habitat is in terms of walking through thick stuff where we know rattlesnakes hang out. We have 18 species of rattlesnakes here in Arizona (when you include all the subspecies), so it can get a bit dicey when you're out and about.
I own the Dryshod. Boots hold up well, but get very hot. I use a boot dryer after a days work and dry out nicely. I also use an extra gel sole for extra comfort.
And that is exactly why there are so many RATS in Ireland there is a serious problem in Dublin about 10.5 million reason's why Ireland 🇮🇪 needs snake's there. I am Irish but with the disgusting rodent problem I would not go back.
Great video, if I may, I highly recommend Lacrosse 4x Alphas. I hunt in south Georgia, where snakes are an issue, water is also an issue. The Lacrosse's have been very durable and comfortable. I'm on my 3rd season with them with no issues.
was on the fence about the Danner lace up snake boots and decided to go ahead and take the plunge once I saw the wild turkey doc with a pair....so far so good
Do you have a recommendation for the best snake proof flip flops? I'm probably gonna get the LLbean but the Orvis snakeproof flip flops comes in more colors. Also this is the first video I've ever seen on your channel and this is the first youtube video I've ever seen (in 10 years) that has zero dislikes. You got a great following and now you got 1 more
Snake boots saved my friend, bear hunting in South Carolina. I was behind him when the timber rattler struck, no rattle. The rattlesnakes here seem to never rattle off, why is that?
I would guess that the Evolution would take place over thousands of years so I think there is another reason like maybe nt seeing the heat source because of boot wear and suddenly getting so close no time for rattling so they bite very fast 🤔 Evolving NAH
I got a pair of huntershield, rubber/neoprene boots👢, I ware them hunting icefishing, winter hiking and had them for 3 years no leaking. not sure if they are snake bite proff
well, i would say they are even. if its dry and I know i will not be in wet grass or crossing streams. id take the irish setters everyday. but the dryshod are good but with my skinny legs they dont stay tight around my thigh up at the top and my ankles rubbed from walking. so i got debris down my boot once in awhile. but my feet stayed dry.
Hello John, Are there any snake boots, gaiters or chaps that are Made in the USA ? I have a cabin on top of the Laurel Mountain in Westmoreland County, Pa. and have encountered Black Timber Rattlers while mowing my grass & weed whacking ! I would gladly buy some snake protection if I could find some Made in USA !
Those Irish setter boots are terrible i have had 2 pair now first pair i walked through in a year walking through the thick south ga woods. this new pair are committing human rights abuses and genocide to my foot.

@@matiasfalconi7712 I'd probably consider a muck-type boot if I was hiking shorter distances around water areas.

Thanks for taking the Time to Document.
No snakes in Ireland but I still watch 😂
I stayed in Dublin in 2019 on my way to isle of man for the tt race.

Got the irish setters. Here in Florida they are a must. Great boot

Daily reminder ACAB.
I got some from 2012 and they still don’t leak.
I'll have to try those. I'm in SW Georgia and have LaCrosse lace up snake boots and my feet get wet super easy.
I’m in elk county pa looking to purchase my first pair of snake boots. Undecided, I need to see more reviews
The new 4xAlpha are trash won't last more than 12months
Love seeing your videos. Keep up the great content. Good luck this season.
Thanks!

Thanks! Be sure to check out our main channel. Leatherwood Outdoors. I do not have a recommendation for snake proof flip flops.
LMAO...😅🤣 Snake 🐍 proof flip flops...

I've heard they get killed a lot of the time when they rattle, so as they are evolving there's more of the silent ones now.
I would guess that the Evolution would take place over thousands of years so I think there is another reason like maybe nt seeing the heat source because of boot wear and suddenly getting so close no time for rattling so they bite very fast 🤔 Evolving NAH
Yep. A lot of people that have to kill on sight are forcing an evolution of them not rattling. Now a nice pre warning feature is no more.
They outlawed the rattles in CA.
I wear snake boots that are rubber I was doing a lawn job and a thorn went right through them!
Yikes!

Have you ever had a snake strike you on your boot or any of your friends?
Yes, we have done it on purpose before.
@@Leatherwoodoutdoors2 but like actually a situation where the boot came in handy?
@@wet_spell yes only a couple times over the years.
Great videos man, what part of Pennsylvania are you in?
Thanks! I'm in clarion county
@@Leatherwoodoutdoors2 Beautiful up there, I'm down in Westmoreland County hunting the Laurel Highlands. Glad to see some content I'm familiar with!
Any updates?

Haven't seen a new video from the boys for a few months. Everything okay out there?
Life just gets super busy. Hard to find the time to film anymore.
How high would you say these boots are waterproof?
I'm not sure on the Irish setters but the dryshod boots are waterproof almost to the top.
@@Leatherwoodoutdoors2 thank you!

Dan’s snake chaps are made in usa
Everyone talks about water proofing. Nobody talks about how these boots protect you from snake bites.
main problem i had is my toes got cold after awhile.
Irish setter wise
I use the lacrosse boots i all so dans biarproof frog legs and dans gaiters some..... They all wear out way to fast for the money.
But how are the bees doing?
