Fatal I-24 Pedestrian Crash near Welcome Center - Clarksville, TN (5/8/24)

UPDATE: according to the preliminary report from THP, there was a first crash that occurred with a single sedan and a tree. This is when a couple, who witnessed the crash, pulled over to the side of the right shoulder of the eastbound lanes. Both occupants exited the vehicle and ran across the interstate to assist the occupants of the first crash. The husband was just behind his wife when he was struck by a Honda Ridgeline in the left lane. The Honda pulled over immediately after the impact. The victim was identified as 66-year-old Rex Welin from Minnesota.

⚫️5/8/24: Fatal Pedestrian Crash⚫️
Clarksville, Tenn. - At approximately 9:42 p.m. along I-24 eastbound near the rest stop, a pedestrian was hit and killed by a sedan. The eastbound lanes were shut down by both CPD and THP while an investigation was conducted. More information will be available as soon as THP completes the preliminary report.
