    I cannot mention often enough how much I love how short and well argued these are. Thank you!

    I wouldn't argue with any of your points. It's funny how you're totally right about everything, but how much they matter to various people will vary. This is my relaxing game, believe it or not. Check this box, get this guy, trade him for that, spend for this, check a box, get a guy...it calms me.

      Your comment is exactly what I like to hear, because my hope for my reviews is that they are less "I'm telling you to buy this or not buy this" and more "here are some key aspects of the game; decide for yourself if they bother you or entice you."
      This one was almost all mixes, but for some players they might be pros and for others cons.

      @@OneStopCoopShop Not sure I've said it before but your reviews are exactly what I'm looking for. Give me the high level bullet points, quick and easy, and if it sounds like something I might like I can then go to the 20+ minute reviews and get more info. I wish more content creators did this quick reviews. I appreciate what you do!

    Out of curiosity, did you ever try the official solo campaign for this? I agree that there isn't a lot to push you into different strategies in the base game, which coupled with a score-only solo mode and low player interaction can theoretically cause the flow of games to converge fairly quickly. I found the campaign mixes things up pretty well and has kept me coming back (at least until I finish it).

    • @OneStopCoopShop

      I tried a few of them. It was better, but not enough to hold my interest longterm :)

    I skipped Hadrian’s Wall, having been concerned over many of the same personal preference shortcomings you experienced. Any thoughts on the new game, “Anarchy”?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Didn't know there was a new game! So no, I can't help, sorry :)

      @@OneStopCoopShop Correction, title is “The Anarchy”.
      This one actually has me a little intrigued. It seems to fix several of the of the things that didn’t quite land with me (or, apparently, you) with Hadrian’s Wall, while GREATLY expanding/increasing the complications and moderately increase the action choice tug-o-war. It looks like the risk of letting yourself get stuck repeating the same strategies repeatedly is about the same; in both cases, it would have been nice to see some variations and randomization in the printed pads.

      @@OneStopCoopShop I only know about The Anarchy from Slickerdrips doing a playthrough recently. Might be worth checking out, if you think there’s any chance of redemption:)

    I too prefer a win/loss instead of high score.

    • @SeanUCF
      @SeanUCF ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's actually a deal breaker for me. It's somewhat acceptable for competitive games, but in solo/co-op games its a no go. I don't mind if the game keeps score to give a player a ranking where you can determine if that rank is a win or loss like DVG's Leader games, but just keeping score is anti-climatic and doesn't feel like I'm playing for anything.

    • @PublicExecution
      @PublicExecution ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@SeanUCF I can't stand solo games that are just beat your own score with a tiered system to show how well you did. I need a legit automa OR I would except beat-your-own-score-ish with a win/loss condition attached (i.e. Underwater Cities).

      Totally agree. One exception for me - Cascadia. It's just so chill and a fun puzzle to try and wrack up points with.

    What makes this a better game than most euros for me is the setup time. I'll actually play this. I won't play most other medium euros because it's too much work to get them out and play.

    I like the game a lot, but I like Twilight Inscription better because the faction cards encourage you to try a variety of different way to win, whereas this one, I think the more you play the more you start doing the same thing over and over because it has better results. Still fun though.

    • @OneStopCoopShop

      Twilight Inscription is in my "to play" pile, and I love factions and varied player powers, so I'm excited to try it later this month.

      @@OneStopCoopShop OK I saw you mentioned Paladins at the end. Paladins is my favorite solo game ever but I think that Hadrian’s Wall might feel a little too samey given that I love Paladins so much (and I need to play it more).

      @@paulhamrick3943 for my tastes, I'm not sure I'd need to have both in my collection. The solo modes scratch similar itches for me.

    Not for me I'm afraid. I mean, what did the Romans ever do for us?
    I wanna play as the Celts kicking off against them
    Well okay they gave us straight roads and horse chestnut trees, but apart from that, what did the Romans do for us? lol
    edit, Okay, they also gave us rabbits, but apart from that...

    wow a bit of negative review... well I don't play this game but I can agree it took the "newly" gimiky roll and write to a huge box for nothing... for a medium euro with hateful mechanic like roll/flip and write all this box is for nothing why couldn't they just make a pnp page for a few bucks and that's it?
    anyway nothing here excite me even the combo engine (deck builder instead anyone?) won't save this game

    I've done the 'games like X' searches on google countless times. Problem is you always see the same 10 games and the results from a google search are probably weighted in ways I don't care about. Is there a site anywhere that will suggest games based on user input? Preferably one that doesnt require you to know all the industry lingo (or have a bgg account)? Would use.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be awesome, but I don't know of one. Your best bet is probably to find a community that has tastes somewhat similar to your own and post there (Facebook, Discord, Reddit, Twitter, what have you).
