- A lot of people go to Southeast Asia on spiritual journeys - to find inner peace. You will find no such thing at this loss-making monument.

This is one of those tracks that I like in F1 cars, but driving it in any other type of car is just painful. I think I made it half a lap in a GT3 car one time before deciding to do something fun instead.
@MetalMastodon cos lmp go brr
I hate it in everything it's so.stupidly boring to drive
That hairpin did used to have a straight exit but it was changed after (or maybe just before) the first race in 2004. A lot of cars were running over the exit kerb and tearing it up so they moved it back a couple feet.
The exit of the hairpin thing, I guess is to fit the ascetic of the calligraphy of the Chinese character 上(Shang), the first character of 上海(Shang Hai), on which the whole track design is based.
Have to say it does produce a decent race nearly every year.
It does. But unfortunately it is a constant victim of over-charging and under-attendance...
SouthPawRacer c h i n a
SouthPawRacer f1 had a good bunch of races here (2006, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2018)
You mean every LEAP YEAR 🤣
It doesn’t even have races
I love that first corner! It's tricky enough when you're on your own, but when you're battling with others it makes things very interesting. And that kink is not redundant; it takes the track where it needs to go.
Of course, Lewis Hamilton might have something to say about the pit-lane entry...
Please do Baku
Ah yes, the claustrophobia track!
or monaco
@@SurplusJester Monaco is a good track though (for small cars)
@@emmata98 monaco is a oversized go-Kart track.
I Like Baku ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If F1 is still running in 2364, I'll eat my hat. I'll also have to be resurrected to do that, so... Wotchu gonna do?
I'm sure cryogenics will advance sufficiently!
Are you planning to do red bull ring track guide? I think it would be fun >_>
I enjoy that track, so... nope. I only do these videos for tracks I personally dislike.
red bull circuit sucks so bad :D it's just a bunch of straights with stupid slow corners at the end
Xeno Man I know where that profile pic comes from
SouthPawRacer
Honestly I hated that track until I actually drove it. Sure it's a tilkedrome, sure it's just a shell of once was a mighty and historically important track, sure the turn 2 hairpin may cause depression. But it's short sweet and to the point, so I like it.
@@SouthPawRacer You would love marrakech circuit ; )
I too would open my third eye at this track... and promptly relieve myself.
I have to admit I really like the first and second turn.
Please keep doing these. I've never had so much laughter from track guides. 12/12 will keep watching
3:16 stockholm school
Wow
There is no school called like that i am 99% sure
I can confirm this as a swede
Now there’s a Stockholm school student 2 comments below you!
This track looks like that first draft of making a track where you dont have a skybox implemented
Its absolutely souless
I actually like this track. Nevertheless keep up the good work!!!!!
0:30 That sounded a lot like Homeworld lol
I totally forgot these existed... thank you for ruining my saturday.
And to think Alexander Rossi said this was one of his favorite tracks...
I will not have the Return of the King slandered like this! If anything, the ending of the movie was cut painfully short
Thank you! This is exactly how I feel about this track lol. The beginning and end of this track are fucking maddening. It's seriously designed by a 2 year old scribbling on their kids menu at IHOP with a crayon.
Topher Hendrickson aka Hermann Tilke
These are amazing! :D You are extremely creative with these
Rhys, would you agree that the new Sokol circuit is a cookie cutter Tilke design?
In all honesty, this is one of my favorite circuits on the video game known as ToCA Race Driver 3 here in the United States, but is known as V8 Supercars Race Driver 3 in Australia.
I personally think zhuhai is a better circuit than this, but that's just my opinion.
Ahh a fellow Stockholm School Alumni... I tip my hat to you sir
Jeah, 0:30, have been lift of by laughing pressure. :)
Please, continue this series!
Do Brands Hatch (Indy layout), Sochi and COTA.
Cota is good tho...
@@ollie_z yeah, it can produce some good races, but only in IndyCar or other racing series.
In F1 there have been a couple of good races, but in general, F1 doesn't bring in a good show when it races at COTA.
I would have hung up on the word Keynesian but coming from the Austrian school that shouldn't surprise anyone and I don't think China is Very fond of ABCT so they would have hung up on me at Austrian. ANYWHO the only road course corners I like are long sweeping ones that is why lime rock with no chicanes is my favorite road course. Simple, short (making it great for just a group of buddies or for leaders to battle through traffic in a large feild) fast, technical (that up hill is tough with no chicane, and I'm an oval guy Born in bread from four generations of excellence (excluding my grandfather's brief and shameful spell in road course racing resulting in things like a 2nd place in H class production at Road America in SCCA in the 50s) on track (and or illegally on the street but most of that wasn't ovals either).
Funnily enough, after playing F1 2020 Vietnamese GP, I suddenly started to enjoy this circuit. That is, when compared to that clusterfuck of a dumbsterfire and piece of shit they call street circuit.
I'd call it Street SHITcuit.
"a lot of people go to southeast asia" uh
Are there any tracks you like??
There are plenty of tracks I like!
What about the Nordschleife?
Every even numbered year*
3:44 - That just looks like a pathetic attempt at trying to copy the "La Source" hairpin.
The Shanghai track looks like Patrick from SpongeBob doing an overhead stretch. I don't know why, but that was the first connection I made upon seeing the track years ago and every time I see the track, I think of Patrick.
Wait this is making a loss all the time? NO! PLEASE NO MORE MALAYSIA SYNDROME!
I saw the 2005 F1 GP here. I was sat on the stands at turn 6. It was the most amazing experience!!!
This track was pretty good in my opinion
How to ruin a racetrack: Laguna Seca brought me here. Now I get what you did there 😂
You are fucking hilarious, mate. Keep these coming, I love them as much as I love pizza.
Top 3 worst tracks i ever raced on
Looks like a rabbit waving its fist. Probably at a cloud.
Looks like some sort of dubious butt toy, tbh.
I wonder if other F1 drivers view tracks the same way as you...
If I remember right, this track was designed by Hermann Tilke. Clearly not the best race track designer ever, but this mess is one of his best.
He also designed Sepang International Raceway which is brilliant. I think if he was allowed he'd make only awesome racetracks, but he is held back massively by the wishes and regulations of the FIA
I absolutely detest that first corner.
Inner peace
#UBS
please do spa or monaco
"The Mazoquist's orgasm"
This quote perfectly describes the Shanghai circuit
Masochist*
Whos here in 2020
are you planning on doing anymore dirt rally championships southpaw?
We'll see. It's been a while since I rallyed... maybe once I'm back from Bathurst.
JONESSY!
South East Asia?
Too funny!
Do Suzuka
Whre are u from?
Can someone please tell me what is the name of this game
This one was recorded in rFactor 2.
Alright thanks my dude. Btw I absolutely love your videos. Can you do more of the how to destroy a racetrack pls?
How To Ruin A Race Track will return after Christmas!
Alright dood
I don't get the point of some of these videos at all. if these tracks were bad, those who actually drive the cars will tell us.
Entertainment!
@@SouthPawRacer lolx, hehe
You are not funny! pls. let it go... apart from that the video was ok.
