This baby monkey was never frightened it went on like it does this all the time if it was scared it would've sat in one place and screamed its head off until mom found them. Adult monkeys who dint know this baby won't touch it they are afraid mom is near and will attack.
That is true but there are times when a bully or kidnapper comes along at the right time for her or him and wrong time for the baby. Then the baby becomes victim of a serial abuser/kidnapper. Baby goes hungry for the day or days. Depending what the mother does, if she'll try save her baby or just stay away. It's not always the case but it does happen.
Lets hope that's not the case. The mother is relaxed because the baby is not nagging or demanding and annoying to get milk every few minutes. Besides, a mother monkey does keep an open eye for her baby, she more or less follows the baby around at a safe distance, making sure her baby is not out of her sight. But she will hold back from going to her baby, she's enjoying her little freedom. She hides well.
