Classic Buick. Great music video. Tongue in cheek. Randy does it again ! "It's Money That Matters". It's true, especially here in the USA. Way back in the day, German workers were paid 3 times a day to give to their spouses/family because money was being devalued every day. Does money matter? You know it.

@Gary Jackson You are correct. Marxism does not work, and never can. The thing here is that Marx was an idealist who thought that people could live and work together peacefully for the common good. In fact, pure Marxism doesn't need a government. However, most of us understand that human nature doesn't work that way, and Marx's vision was perverted into communism, which, in practice, functions as the worst kind of feudalism, only without the fancy titles.

As an English major, I "got" the album's simple cover photo of two chairs in somebody's backyard: a big rocking chair and a little child's chair. Of course! William Blake's "Songs of Innocence and Experience." Some of the Experience songs were pretty brutal; the Innocence one's sweet and dreamy.

So wish Rand would have made a similar video to go with "It's Money That I Love" .. Might have helped sales of the song and the album as well ..

Newman was a favorite of intellectuals early on due to his sarcastic and satirical lyrics. However, it would be far too short-sighted to describe him as a satirist or comedian, as he also wrote very touching, serious texts. Musically, Newman is influenced by blues, rock and ragtime on the one hand, but on the other hand he often provides his songs with sophisticated classical orchestral arrangements. The pleasant and often catchy music often contrasts with the often biting or profound lyrics.
His versatility as a songwriter and arranger is renowned.

Money answers all things concerning mens accomplishments but God through Christ preserves the soul and turns one's heart from stone to flesh because he perfected it . For you fellow jews out there read ISAIAH 53 for its an insight of the Messiah.

So true. When my caller ID shows that a telemarketer is calling, I cue up this song, then answer the phone. I play the song without saying a word. They usually hang up after less than a minute, and I get far fewer telemarketing calls now.

One of my favorite lines in all of music, right there. There's something transcendent about it. It gathers everyone together, right at the heart of a song which seemingly takes a bold, cynical stand against something. Plus, it's phrased in such a quintessentially whimsical way. Love it.
