Story time! I saw David Byrne with a friend at the Santa Barbara bowl a few years back. Incredible show! We we invited to the aftershow since I had helped the percussion tech with some items. My friend and I were surrounded by actors and musicians. He knew who the actors were (I had no clue) and I knew most of the musicians. Behind me I heard someone speak and I instantly knew it was Sia. I leaned over to my friend to ask if she was behind me. He had no idea who Sia was. I started laughing and turned around. I absolutely was her. She was talking to David. I wanted to say hi and thank her for her music, but I didn't want to interrupt or bother her. Absolutely surreal show and experience. Backing up a bit: Ibeyi opened the show. They were also amazing but a bit out of their element since most of the crowd had no idea who they were. I went to go get a beer before Byrne took the stage and Ibeyi were hanging out near the fence by the backstage entrance area. Since they were just hanging out I went over & said hi, and thank them for their music. They high fived me and were so nice. We talked for a bit about the show I had seen of theirs at the Ace Theatre in LA about a year prior. It was such a trip to get all of these experiences at just one show. It didn't seem real.

underrated in what sense? in terms of pure numbers she's been victorious since more than a decade. if you mean, she's singing about things which few artists sing about, then yeah, she's "underrated". or you can just say Sia Rules.

It was so cute to see that even you sometimes mix up the lyrics. And in the same place I also often stumble while singing along, the "I'm so confident" line. i might live under a rock or something but i have no clue who David Byrne is, and this being the first time i've even seen or heard him did NOT give a good impression, he did not sound well, he slurred like 90% of his words, sang them off-key and for some god forsaken reason his microphone's input volume was higher than Sia's, so I couldn't even appreciate Sia's effort in fixing everything he kept messing up.

The only reason this performance didn’t work is because David was forced to sing outside of his comfort zone and SIA is clearly just using David because he’s an autistic guy and obviously sia made that problematic movie that the autism community didn’t like and so she approaches a 70 year old guy to sing with her for social credit or whatever. It disgusts me because David Byrne is one of the most influential musicans of the last 40 years and yet Sia has the audacity to go and treat him as status rebound because clearly him being older he probably doesn’t know about her movie and the controversy surrounding it.
He ruined this song performance. He kinda sounded like someone twisting on a cow's tail but a lot of musicians and singers are like that. I can't sing or dance either. When I try to howl out a song my neighbor comes looking for something beating on a dog. He can sing other songs great but this song requires Sia to sing it because it belongs to her. She just masters it and makes it greater than anyone else can. It's like it makes great singers sound bad when they try to sing it.

I didnt know who he was so I thought if was a tipsy celeb wanting go crash Sia's song. I mean he really was off key and ruined that performance, I wonder who thought that was a good idea!?
i might live under a rock or something but i have no clue who David Byrne is, and this being the first time i've even seen or heard him did NOT give a good impression, he did not sound well, he slurred like 90% of his words, sang them off-key and for some god forsaken reason his microphone's input volume was higher than Sia's, so I couldn't even appreciate Sia's effort in fixing everything he kept messing up.

@@Simlife101 Maybe you should listen to David’s music and realise he’s much more talented than Sia. The only reason this performance didn’t work is because David was forced to sing outside of his comfort zone and SIA is clearly just using David because he’s an autistic guy and obviously sia made that problematic movie that the autism community didn’t like and so she approaches a 70 year old guy to sing with her for social credit or whatever. It disgusts me because David Byrne is one of the most influential musicans of the last 40 years and yet Sia has the audacity to go and treat him as status rebound because clearly him being older he probably doesn’t know about her movie and the controversy surrounding it.
When David started singing, he must have thanked God that his face was covered. 😂😂😂

He ruined this song performance. He kinda sounded like someone twisting on a cow's tail but a lot of musicians and singers are like that. I can't sing or dance either. When I try to howl out a song my neighbor comes looking for something beating on a dog. He can sing other songs great but this song requires Sia to sing it because it belongs to her. She just masters it and makes it greater than anyone else can. It's like it makes great singers sound bad when they try to sing it.
Even David Byrne on his prime couldn't stop Sia, she is really unstoppable
