Yes! Go to settings > Edit and check the “free layer” box. Create a NEW project and try again. Let me know if it works!

did you create a new project? I'd try it both ways - checked - make a new project - and unchecked. Also make sure you have the most recent version of CapCut. Then let me know please. This has worked for others, so I'd really like to learn what's happening with yours.

Go to settings > edit > free layer and check the box. then create a NEW project and try again. Let me know if that fixed it!

Im amazed how quickly you produce gold, we appreciate it. One question tho, do you know if it's anyway possible to save the picture in picture effect with the border as a preset of some sort? So we don't have to create it manually every time? I don't think CapCut allows us to do that
I'm not aware of a way, but that would be a great feature! You could have a project with stuff presized in it and then just note the settings.. and copy them over to the new clips - but not as convenient as a preset for sure.

@@TrevorJonescreator i did, I used what you showed for one of my course videos! I am using Final Cut though, I tried a couple of edits on CapCut, it’s getting there, I don’t think editing is seamless enough though on the timeline, I’m sure it will be soon!
Ya, if you're already comfortable in a pro app, this will be a switch for sure! For a free app, its amazing. And it does something that would be way harder in FCP - ie, the crazy effects and transitions.

Great tutorial Trevor. I have one question - when I'm trying to put the text layer behind the cutout, CapCut doesn't let me put it in between two layers of video. I'm using the desktop version on Mac. Do you have any idea why I can't rearrange layers the same way you can?
Hmmm. Try turning off "main track magnet" (keystroke is P) - cause that slams anything on the main track all the way left and gets confusing. If that doesn't help, try creating a new project with just one video clip that you copy and stack and see if you can drag text in between. Also try dragging the video layer above the text or the text below the video - ie, try both ways. I'm on desktop on a mac as well and clicking and dragging either direction works. If all that fails, use LOOM (free online app) to screen record you trying and email the link to me. Link is in my about section. Lemme know!

I just looked at one of Jakes videos and A) Really good! B) For some of the old clips in the top left of the screen he puts the name of the clip on TH-cam where he got it. And ya, I'll look into doing a video. Some great editing and effects. Thanks!
