Awww what a truly beautiful sound this oboe really has!! Took my breath away!! You should have played all of Gabriel's Oboe though, I really love that piece, and it really sounded fabulous!!! 😀
The Josef’s have become incredible instruments in recent years.. impeccable scale, a lot of core in the sound and doesn’t spread the tone. Complex, interesting, rich sound.
Lovely Celia - it really rings, doesn't it? A few years ago, Josefs were often not highly regarded, but this is superb. First time I have seen you with glasses.
The Josef oboes have evolved into really good instruments, especially in terms of intonation and evenness of the scale. That said, I still prefer the sound of a Howarth or Marigaux.
Both are true probably! Celia is a fabulous player. Have a listen to her CD here: artaria.co/ Also I think Josef have got a lot better in the last ten years. A number of professionals are now using them.
Well, if it made me sound like her, I'd buy it in a heartbeat lol. I think of all her demos, she sounds the nicest on this oboe, though she sounds fabulous on all of them. Wish I lived a bit closer for a trial. Does she normally play a Howarth?
Sheryl Rohr Celia was a career Marigaux 901 player until Howarth brought out the LXV about 5 years ago. She now owns two LXVs, one blackwood and one cocobolo. The cocobolo is her favourite but the blackwood is better for big symphonies and modern orchestral work. Where are you based?

I was honoured to play it with Morricone 🌟

Josefs are the best oboes in the market!
Celia sounds amazing on everything!
Very interesting.. If you can, I want to watch your play test of Monnig’s oboe as Albrecht Mayer’s model, and the Del SOL model also.

Has Josef improved over the years? Either that or you are an amazing player or both.
